Definition: lipoprotein lipases that appear in plasma during lipemia and catalyze hydrolysis of triglycerides only when the latter are bound to protein and when an acceptor (serum albumin) is present, thus “clearing” the plasma.
Examples: glitazone, GI cocktail, etc.
