Pronunciation: kō′lān
Definition: Parent hydrocarbon of the cholanic acids (cholic acids); androstane with a —CH(CH3)CH2CH2CH3 group in the 17 position. 5α-Cholane is sometimes called allocholane. For structures, see steroids.
