Pronunciation: ser-am′i-dās
Definition: An enzyme that hydrolyzes ceramides into sphingosine and a fatty acid; acylsphingosine deacylase. A deficiency of this enzyme is associated with disseminated lepogranulomatosis.
Examples: glitazone, GI cocktail, etc.
