Definition: proximal or generalized weakness and impaired deep tendon reflexes in patients with carcinoma; this is the most common of the paraneoplastic syndromes, i.e., remote effect of malignancy, resulting from an immune disorder.
Examples: glitazone, GI cocktail, etc.
