Pronunciation: kap-sā′i-sin
Definition: Alkaloidal principle in the fruits of various species of Capsicum, with the same uses. It depletes substance P from sensory nerve endings; sometimes used for pain in postherpetic neuralgia.
Examples: glitazone, GI cocktail, etc.
