brain contusion
a bruising, usually of the surface, of the brain with infarction of brain parenchyma and extravasation of blood but without rupture of the pia-arachnoid; healing results in a superficial depressed sclerotic area, possibly with incorporated meninges.See Also: brain cicatrix
