Pronunciation: ar′ji-nās
Definition: An enzyme of the liver that catalyzes the hydrolysis of l-arginine to l-ornithine and urea; a key enzyme of the urea cycle. A deficiency of arginase leads to arginemia.
Synonym(s): canavanase
