agouti-related peptide
Definition: a peptide released with neuropeptide Y from specific neurons of the arcuate nucleus. These neurons are stimulated by ghrelin and inhibited by neuropeptide PYY and leptin. Release of agouti-related peptide and neuropeptide Y stimulates appetite while reducing metabolism.
