afferent loop syndrome
Definition: chronic obstruction of the duodenum and jejunum proximal to the gastrojejunostomy performed in a Billroth II–type gastrectomy; the distended afferent loop of jejunum and duodenum causes symptoms of pain and fullness associated with food ingestion; weight loss is common.
