Definition: A genus of fungi (family Moniliaceae, order Moniliales) that causes eumycotic mycetoma; three species, Acremonium falciforme, Acremonium kiliense, and Acremonium recifei, produce whitish to yellow grains in the tissues. Produces keratomycosis, occasionally other infections, and the antibiotic cephalosporin.
