Definition: The dried gummy exudation from Acacia senegal and other species of Acacia (family Leguminosae), prepared as a mucilage and syrup; used as an emollient, demulcent excipient, and suspending agent in pharmaceuticals and foods; formerly used as a transfusion fluid.
