absinthium
Pronunciation: ab-sin′thē-ŭm
Definition: The dried leaves and tops of Artemisia absinthium (family Compositae). Now seldom used, the infusion formerly was used as a tonic; in large or frequently repeated doses it produces headache, trembling, and epileptiform convulsions.
