This Obstetrical Ultrasound course combines obstetrics and gynecology with the primary emphasis devoted to the study of obstetrics. The first day is primarily gynecology, including lectures in sonographic orientation and terminology of the gynecology tract with hands-on transvaginal scanning labs. The remaining days are devoted to obstetrics, to include approximately 15 hours of dedicated lectures by accredited physicians and sonographers. Each afternoon is spent in scanning labs with obstetrical patients under the guidance of a registered sonographer.

The Program for Medical Ultrasound at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center has been a pioneer in providing ultrasound education since 1975. The individual courses ae enhanced by daily afternoon hands-on scanning sessions to reinforce morning lectures and develop scanning technique.
