"I was on Diovan five years ago for high blood pressure and had been taking it for about two years when I woke up one morning and felt so sick and weak that I could not walk. I happened to be in hospital at the time and they discovered that my potassium and blood pressure had dropped significantly. They stopped the Diovan and two days later I was back to normal. However, my blood pressure is above the recommended levels and the local doctor put me back on Diovan about six weeks ago and this week I got the weakness back plus muscle aches, severe, so I stopped Diovan two days ago and so far I still have all the bad side effects, but hoping they will go away soon. A visit to the doctor is on the cards."

"I used to take 360mg a day, now I'm down to 80mg a day. I have taken this for years. I wouldn't change to anything else, it has really done wonders on my blood pressure (BP). Now my BP is well controlled."

"I have been taking this medication off an on for abut 10 years. My experience is that it lowers my blood pressure to around 120/60 from average 140/75. My problem is it causes me to have problems with my legs and I can't have good erections. I stop it for few days and my erection returns to normal. That's my biggest problem with it."

"I've taken Diovan for 5 years. It controlled my blood pressure for about 4 years and then my blood pressure started to rise. My only side effects that I am aware of is extremly cold feet and loss of sex drive. I have sinced switched to Metoprolol with no improvement and same side effects. Both of these drugs are expensive. I'm going to ask my doctor if I can be switched to Atenolol. According to description of this drug in Drugs.com, it seems to be the same, except you can get it from Walmart or Walgreen's for $4."

"Diovan 80mg was prescribed to me. It did nothing for my blood pressure. I started on 160mg/12.5, this increased my BP from 140/90 to 160/107 and gave me serious side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, etc. My sister takes this medicine without any problems."

"Shortly after beginning Diovan, I started coughing, and it just never stopped. Little by little, it increased to the point, that I just couldn't take it anymore. I still have a lingering cough, but not as bad as when I stopped. I am hoping it will stop completely with time. I wish I had known it was a common side affect before I started using it. Now I am afraid to take a different med for high blood pressure, until I research it thoroughly."

"Diovan was prescribed by my doctor nearly 10 years ago. Turns out both my parents also take it. None of us have any side effects that we are aware of, and it controls the hypertension effectively. Never been on any other high blood pressure treatment."

"I have been taking Diovan 160 mg along with three other medications. My blood pressure went down from 160/100 to 135/90 but I'm not sure if it was due to this medicine or the other three. I seem to get tired in the afternoon when my dosage was increased from 80 to 160 mg."

"I've been taking Diovan for 2 weeks now and so far, it has the fewest side effects (other than hives and painful walking) and gets my blood pressure down (144/88). My system is very sensitive, but with blood pressure running 176/100 and higher, I am thankful this helps."

"Been taking this medicine for three months. Was on Exforge. I am pleased with the results and also it helps me to lose weight. Lost 10 lbs in one month without trying. Need to loose 30 more lbs going for the gold. Side effect: makes me feel week at times other than that it appears to be working hopefully. I will be off medication when I lose the weight."

"I had used Diovan for some time which worked well and when the insurance provider had me to switch to Valsartan and I began to have problems and now am not able to go back to Diovan because of the expense of it, the charge $402.00 for a three month supply. Outrageous!"

"After two weeks I started experiencing intense vertigo, this is the third day I'm experiencing it, and it's just terrible. I'm trying to sleep and the room is just spinning. Vertigo is listed as a possible side effect of diovan. I'm never ever touching this medicine again, other than throwing it into the trash bin."

"I take Diovan along with amlodipine and benazepril. My blood pressure is typically about 120-130/70-84. I don't know how much is due to the Diovan vs Lotrel, but I do know that Lotrel taken by itself was unable to get these results. As for side effects, I do seem to have dry cough(varying amounts), some dehydration, darker urine, and substantially less-frequent ejaculations. However, I am not sure if it is the medication that causes such things even though such things are recognized as side-effects."

"I took Diovan for two months to reduce blood pressure. It appears to be working, with no apparent side effects, other than COST. It is not available as a generic and even with a good prescription benefit it was costing me $60/month."

"Have been taking Diovan HCT 160/12.5 for nearly 20 years with absolutely no issues. Recently, have noticed more fatigue and dizziness. Began checking and recording my blood pressure multiple times a day and found out that it is too low. I'm in the process of coordinating next steps with my doctor. Suspect that a slight dosage adjustment should do the job and have me back on track shortly."

"Works better than Cozaar or Losartan at keeping my systolic blood pressure more even or stable throughout the day and in normal range. Losartan causes erratic pressures daily failing to lower systolic readings for me."

"160 mg after I wake up and 160 mg before I go to sleep. Also, taking rilmenidine 1 mg in the evening. My blood pressure is always from 120 to 140. Diovan (valsartan) saved me for real. I tried zofenopril, captopril, quinapril, got me dermatitis, tried amlodipine, nifedipine, felodipine, lercanidipine, my heart was like a ticking bomb. I can only take *sartan medicine and *nidine central nervous system anti hypertensive agents. So I chose Diovan (valsartan). The doctors also tried olmesartan and irbesartan on me, but, valsartan seemed the best for me. For my angina, I take metoprolol tartrate 50 mg after I wake up."

"Just changed from Enalapril to Valsartan, due to a cough, and then to Diovan due to a weird sensation that's like tripping. I can only describe it as almost an out-of-body experience. It just happens randomly but only lasts for a few minutes. Diovan is less spacy. I haven't seen anyone else report this so l guess they are LSD flashbacks from a misspent youth. Blood pressure is very good though."

"Over a several year trial and error period to try to manage my familial hypertension, I now take 3 drugs to manage it. Diovan, Doxazosin, and Lercanidipine. I take all 3 at bedtime. I don't have any side effects I'm aware of, and my BP is now very well managed. Just be mindful that you need a blood test each year, and I understand they can affect liver function. After about 6 or 7 years, I've had no problems identified."
