Ultram (tramadol) for Back Pain "Good at relieving pain for a short duration (4 hours at a time) with few side effects. I found that at 200mg/day my pain was cut in half and I had increased energy and a brighter mood. I have used this medicine for 4 years now and find that it is very effective for about four months.. and then effectiveness decreases. At that point, my doctor switches me to a narcotic for three to four weeks and then I can continue with the tramadol over again with a "reset" in the effectiveness factor. The strongest negative for me is getting off the tramadol... withdrawl effects include major mood swings, insomnia, and dizziness. But overall, it is quite effective and has very few bad effects for me while taking it."

For Depression "I take tramadol for lower pain, however, I use it mainly for depression and anxiety. It works better than any antidepressant I’ve ever taken. I’m on the 50mg instant release tablets, and I take it up to 4 times a day. I keep my dose between 100mg-200mg a day. I don’t overtake it, as tolerance builds up quickly. In reference to the people who warned that this drug is very addictive, and that it shouldn’t be prescribed for depression because of that, I have to say, regular antidepressants are just as bad if you quit taking them (MAJOR withdrawals, brain zaps, etc) ...so prescribing tramadol shouldn’t be any different. This drug has done wonders for me, and I’m so happy I was able to find a doctor who would write it for me."

For Depression "I love tramadol. I use it for both mood and pain. I usually take 50mg a day but some days none and some days 100mg. I like it because I take as needed. Ive been addicted to opioids but this one is different. It’s like a miracle drug for me"

For Fibromyalgia "I'm a disabled veteran. Diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1992 while still active duty. Have been taking tramadol for years 50mg now 3x a day. I don't think I would survive without it. Allows me to do some of the activities with my family. It is good for relieving fibro pain. I would recommend any new patients to try it. It may change your life."

For Depression "Initially prescribed Tramadol for lower back pain. Had previously been on other forms of antidepressants for PTSD after a long military and police career. Tramadol worked wonders in alleviating all forms of depressive/anxious thoughts and feelings. I had no idea Tramadol could help in this regard and now use it solely for mental health, having discarded all other medications. Like other reviewers here, I believe more attention and research needs to take place to make this drug a frontrunner in mental health medication. I feel confident, social, and my work has improved immensely since using this medicine. I take 100mg per day and no more. My recommendation is to stick to the prescribed dose and avoid alcohol in large quantities. Please keep in mind that the only side effect I have ever experienced is constipation. With that in mind, I changed to a higher fiber diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables and noticed my gut function returned to normal."

For Depression "I LOVE Tramadol. I'm a stay at home mom and I'm over weight, big chest, and my back hurts all the time. Chasing toddlers around and doing house work can be aggravating at times. I've found tramadol to help with quite a few things. Mood, Motivation, pain, depression. I no longer take valium and effexor for my anxiety and depression because tramadol helps everything in my case! It's a wonder pill for me. I usually take 50mg when I get up, 1 later on in the day, then 1 at night. Sometimes I might take 2 in the morning and then 1 later that evening. But regardless tramadol makes me feel normal and able to do my everyday duties without being in a slump. Shame it's a narcotic now bc doctors are hesitant to prescribe and you don't get refills so u have to go every month to your doctor to get it. Hope this helps someone in pain and or depression as I've found it to be of help in both areas!!!"

For Anxiety "This drug tamadol has completely changed my life. I also take 20mg of lexapro. My anxiety has been so high in my recent years and depression hits hard. I was prescribed tramadol 3 times a day and for this past year my anxiety went from a 10 to a 1 or 2. I'm more active and it has saved my marriage. I recommend this drug to anyone with depression/anxiety and drop the other psych meds."

For Depression "I was facing several months of on and of depression since being forced to move. I had and have no one to communicate with anymore. The loneliness made me realize how empty my life is and see no purpose in anything. I lost all motivation. The greater issue was that I was starting to feel like this everyday and started pondering suicide. I decided ro try Tramadol since it was available to me. I took 100 mg to test it and I felt normal again (able to feel pleasure and then some). The experience was amazing and it gave my social confidence I was lacking. As the Tramadol wore off I was able to speak in a debate group without issue (I usually get nervous and lose track) and it was noticed. I alI'v"

For Depression "I suffer from MDD and have taken about 7 different antidepressants which have been, for the most part, ineffective. On the 4 or 5 occasions I have taken tramadol, it has has noticeable effects on my mood. Tramadol doesn't make me drowsy and has powerful antidepressant effects. I feel better for days after a single dose of Tramadol, in which I feel I have more energy, less anxiety and feel oddly clearheaded. I know this drug is not typically indicated for depression or anxiety, but it seems to crush both in one go, at least for me anyways."

For Depression "Thumbs up! I was prescribed Tram for abdominal pain, and in the process of taking once daily, 50mg, I realized that my energy is boosted, my mood is elevated, and I felt 10 to 15 years younger. I also observed more creativity and a heightened sense of wellbeing. Must be the serotonin higher levels."

For Pain "I'd like say there are many misinformed people here. Tramadol DOES help all kinds of pain. Tramadol is an opioid, it attaches to the same receptors Oxycodone does, and it's a PRODRUG -- meaning it must metabolize via CYP2D6 liver enzyme to work. Once it's converted over, it turns into M1 aka o-deso (for short) which is 6-10 times more potent than Tramadol, where it's real pain relief comes from. So People giving it 1 star? They are lacking proper metabolism OR they are taking a P2D6 inhibitor (some antiacids, like tagament), grapefruit juice, among others. A 50mg Tramadol tablet in studies has SUPERIOR pain relief to 40mg codeine+300mg Tyneol, and also showed the same pain relief as 5 to 7.5mg of Oxycodone. It works for pain..."

For Depression "I been diagnosed with depression, by every doctor I been in face to face contact...I always try to hide my depression from everyone, even doctors. I would go to the ER about twice a year for anxiety attack. The doctors in the ER would identify my depression right away even with me trying to hide it. I taken a hand full of antidepressants Zoloft, exfexar, welbutrain, and paxel. Took Zoloft for 2 years and gained 115lb. I got prescribe tramadol for pain, I would stand all day. Immediately did not have the need for Zoloft. I was able to get a better job (still standing all day ) I lost 104lb (saggy skin now). I take 50mg twice a day... On an empty stomach is best. Just like everyone else tramadol has gave me my life back!"

For Fibromyalgia "I've got fibromyalgia, as well as osteoarthritis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome-C, anxiety/depression, and ulcers. I've tried EVERYTHING, but because my tummy is so sensitive, most medicines make my constipation problem worse, or upset my stomach. Plus, the "usual" side effects of many medicines (feeling hungover, bloating, weight gain, etc) can be just as debilitating as the condition itself. Tramadol helps with ALL of my problems without unbearable side effects! My doctor wanted me to wean off of it, so I tried other medicines again (gabapentin, Cymbalta) but my body just does not like any of them. I am quite thin, and only take 25-50 mg a day (I cut the pills in half!) and this works for me. I have not had to increase this dosage and it's been about a year."

For Anxiety "When I was prescribed Tramadol for abdominal pain, little did I know about the Bonus effects. I was able to lose 20lbs in 3 months (less appetite). My mood became so good and I got my joy of life back. I took 50mg daily. I felt less anxious and depressed. Mostly, I cared less about what people think of me. I started to swim and hike. My mom, who is against pills, said " you changed so much whatever that you do, keep doing it". I'm a 45 yo male."

For Depression "I've had depression and anxiety for about 14 years now. I can't even count how many antidepressants and other meds I tried without any results at all. I even spent so much money on ketamine therapy without any benefits. Only tramadol has ever worked for not only my anxiety and depression but to my surprise, it has helped my ADHD. Unfortunately, thanks to the government, the doctors would rather let you die than give you a prescription for tramadol."

Ultram (tramadol) for Back Pain "I have found that this medication not only relieves my chronic pain but I am able to take it and still work- I could not do that with the standard narcotic pain relievers which are typically prescribed. Thanks to my doctor's recommendation of this medicine I am able to live a much less painful and much more fulfilling life."

For Fibromyalgia "Tramadol is my miracle. I've had fibromyalgia for about 6 yrs, but I've had depression & anxiety my whole life, sometimes severe. This not only combats that tricky fibromyalgia pain but makes me feel better emotionally. I find that my focus is better, my mind sees things with more clarity (maybe because I'm not in pain) & my depression is nil. Traditional opiates don't work for my type of physical pain and I hate their tiring effect. Tramadol doesn't cause fatigue- for me, it eliminates it without making me jumpy or manic. Just a nice, clean energy. I keep my dose at or under the prescribed-for-me dosage. Along with Lyrica, it has saved me from a life of fibromyalgia pain, anxiety & unnecessary depression."

Ultram (tramadol) for Chronic Pain "Tramadol works as expected. It does just enough so I can remain functional without stepping up to stronger painkillers. Tramadol only works for me if I take the doses consistently. When I first started taking Tramadol it took about a week for the medicine to be fully effective."

Ultram (tramadol) for Pain "I have been taking this medication for about two years. At first it completely killed the pain and then gradually i have built a tolerence to it. The days that it works and feel good it is awesome but other days i wish i had other options. I like the fact that it is non narcotic and seems not as habit forming."

For Depression "I experienced only adverse reactions to SSRIs and TCAs thanks in part to being bipolar, but Tramadol has been a God send for my depression. I was sick and tired, literally, of trying different medicines only to have my mood get thrown around crazily. Tramadol worked when nothing else could touch the depression. I take it twice daily. Could not live without it. I am so thankful that my psychiatrist is open to new ideas and tried this, I only will encourage others to try this also. Because of the Tramadol I am now recovered from any form of self injury - I am free for over 3 years. It works. Simple."

It does not give me a headache, does not make me loopy or sleepy or even depressed. Not sure why its classified as a strong pain pill, it just makes joint paint go away and you can function normal."

For Anxiety "I was prescribed Tramadol for back pain because I am allergic to NSAIDs. I was taking two 50mg tablets per day and noticed that my mental state also improved while taking this medication. My anxiety subsided and I found that I did not get upset even in stressful situations (I work in HR which is very stressful for me). It's been a miracle for me since I deal with anxiety issues almost daily. It puts me in state of calm, but I'm still me. The only side effects I've experienced while taking Tramadol have been entirely positive. I wish it was prescribed for anxiety disorders."
