Seroquel (quetiapine) for Bipolar Disorder: I love this antipsychotic. We tried them all and this is the only one that did not give me akathisia - I know another person like me and same thing with him as well. I have taken 600mg since January and it is fabulous. Definitely chills me out and calms me down. Does not put me to sleep though. That stopped a long time ago - I think you get used to it and the lower doses are more sedating. I have done some reading though and it has to hit a certain dose (I think 400mg) to actually hit the dopamine receptors, anything lower and it only works on histamine and would not work as a antipsychotic. I now take the XR version as I was taking the regular version twice a day for psychotic symptoms, I don't take this for sleep. Very nice overall.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Bipolar Disorder: Seroquel really snapped me out of a terrible manic episode. The self-injury, obsessive thoughts and sleeplessness stopped within two days of my first doses. Currently it is a regular part of my drug cocktail, at a maintenance dose of 50 mgs. It is the only drug that has truly been able to hold the mania at bay. I have had weight gain, but I will select weight gain over a living hell every single time. Seroquel makes me happy to be alive again.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Depression: I've been taking Seroquel for 4 months now. I was in a medical detox for narcotic dependence to pain medication and Xanax. I'm on another medication now which interacts with Xanax, so I can't take it anymore. Since being on Seroquel I sleep amazingly. I used to take 1mg of Xanax and 6 or 7 Tylenol PM's just to fall asleep. Now I take 75mg of Seroquel a night and I fall asleep easily and stay asleep. I do get a weird pain in my hands and fingers, and have started getting muscle pain in my calves. I originally was prescribed to take 25mg in the afternoon and 50 mg at night, but the daytime dose was making me so exhausted I couldn't function and do my daily activities. Taking Seroquel has greatly improved my insomnia, depression, and anxiety.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Depression: This made me very tired. Definitely helps if you have insomnia, but makes it pretty much impossible to have a normal day's worth of activity. If you try to force yourself to wake up early, you will be rewarded with dizziness, headache, and overwhelming fatigue. A good sleep, but didn't really help my depression.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Depression: It made me incredibly sleepy, which was a bonus. I took the medication combined with Lexapro, and gained 20 lbs in my first 3 months on both. Since I got off Seroquel my weight returned to normal.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Insomnia: Traditional sleep aids (Ambien etc.) did not work for me, and I have been using Seroquel for several years with great success, and no side effects. However, since Seroquel is not FDA approved for insomnia, I am having difficulty getting approval for an individual health insurance policy.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Insomnia: This medication has helped me greatly with my sleep trouble. I'm on other antidepressants (SSRI) that caused a condition called Akathesia, so I was prescribed this to help me sleep. The SSRI's made me toss and turn at night, giving me a feeling of restlessness. I have been taking it for 5 years at bedtime, anywhere from 25mg to 100mg. The best sleep medication I have taken. I have tried others - Ambien, Trazodone and Serzone, but none of them compare to the effectiveness of this for insomnia or other sleep troubles. The company who makes this drug should seriously consider FDA approval for insomnia. Also, it's not addicting at all.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Insomnia: I have been taking 100 mg of Seroquel for about a year now, does worry me some because when I do miss a dose I don't sleep but it does work well. I do have to eat before I go to bed or want to sleep well.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Insomnia: I am 49 yr old female with a lifetime of insomnia. I had been taking Ambien for sleep for over a decade for my insomnia, but had been waking up during the night, cooking, cleaning, drawing, etc., so my doctor suggested I try 50 mg Seroquel instead. I've been taking it two weeks now, and I am sleeping and waking alert (YES!) and not semi foggy...you all know that feeling right? Added benefit is I am less anxious through out the day.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Insomnia: My doctor prescribed 50mg of Seroquel for insomnia and it worked well for about 3 years. I then had to up the dose to 100mg and it caused me to have restless leg syndrome. It is a great medicine for insomnia for the short term, not so for long term.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Bipolar Disorder: I was prescribed Seroquel after I got out of one of those psychiatric hospitals and after a terrible bout with Abilify (extremely jittery and restless). Unfortunately, Seroquel affected me in just the opposite way. I consistently went up in dose, peaking at 600 mg for 2 days, then dropping back down to 300 mg. I was on it for almost a month but I was living in my own little world. I was very muted. It may have stopped the manic episodes, but the depression became worse, almost landing me back in a hospital after I went "cold turkey." The good thing though was that I slept so peacefully every night. No racing thoughts.

Seroquel (quetiapine): Four years ago, at age 70, my doctor gave me a starter pack of Seroquel. It turned out to be the proverbial, "silver bullet". I haven't had a single episode of depression or hypo-mania since I started taking it. Three noticeable side effects have occurred: 1. I typically sleep 12 hours out of every 24 hour cycle, 2. My body fat distribution has increased my waist by 5 inches, but my weight has remained about the same, 3. Two years ago I was diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic. For approximately the prior 20 years I experienced several episodes each year as a "rapid cycler". Dozens of drugs had been tried without much success. As a staid person when not in an episode, it is not my style to be hyperbolic in describing my personal experiences.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Insomnia: I have had a problem with sleep for a long time. My doctor prescribed Seroquel 50 mg. It works great - it takes about usually and hour and fifteen minutes to make me fall asleep. I have to eat about 35 minutes after I take it because I get hungry from it. If I don't eat I won't sleep well. It's a very good medication. I do sometimes once in a while feel dizzy and feel lightheaded. Other than that it's good.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Bipolar Disorder: Seroquel has helped me a lot in the crisis days. However I have gained a lot of weight and get drowsy easily. I would recommend it if you are really agitated and full of anxiety and have racing thoughts.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Insomnia: My doctor prescribed this to me because I have trouble sleeping. I don't know what I would do without it. I am 28 years old and I have had insomnia most of my life. The first time I took it, it helped me so much. I so would recommend this pill to anyone who has had my problem.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Paranoid Disorder: I was given this medication for alcohol/drug psychosis and after 2 years in 12 step recovery programs I am still on 450 milligrams. I started a reduction regime and was down to 150 milligrams and my paranoia symptoms returned. Went to see doctor and resumed my previous dosage. I experience no side effects listed but must say I am in good health and keep fit. There is the issue of weight gain, using fitness I managed to lose 10 kilograms.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Schizoaffective Disorder: This drug is good for controlling symptoms. You can lead a normal life on this drug. It is sedating at first and on higher doses. I find that the only troublesome side effect has been weight gain (around 2 and a half stones). Overall a good drug.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Bipolar Disorder: I've been taking 150mg at night for years. I sleep for 8 hours when I take it. If I don't, I don't sleep 8 minutes. I am a forty year old male. I didn't take it last night and I've been up for 36 hours and I can't even think about going to sleep.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Schizoaffective Disorder: I have been taking Seroquel for a number of years. I have been prescribed numerous other antipsychotics which have had worse side effects than the condition. Love the Seroquel, good nights sleep is the best side effect. Used to get the munchies for chocolate and sweet things. Eat a whole block of chocolate or packet of biscuits. Only take it at night because morning dose makes me a zombie. I don't know if it is addictive but if I miss a dose it makes me all zoned out and crook. I think I will be taking this for the rest of my life but it makes my head clear and stops the hallucinations. I've had some bad life experiences lately and this has stopped me from falling and dealing with what has happened.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Schizoaffective Disorder: I was put on Celexa, Depakote, and Seroquel when I was a month into being 13 years old. I was fine for a week then the voices returned with a vengeance, much worse and far more taunting and tormenting than ever before (or since). I became a zombie, unable to communicate the problems to my doctor or family. In addition, when I described problems to my doctor he insisted Seroquel didn't cause those effects. Drowsiness, craving sugar, problems with walking and balance, and becoming a far more ill person than I was when I began the medication. I gained 60 lbs in three months. When I stopped Seroquel, I returned to "base sanity". My weight returned to normal.

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Bipolar Disorder: This is a very powerful drug. Eventually I got up to 300mg a night, it made me relaxed and I sleep like a baby.
