For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "Prazosin 1mg-2mg helps with dreams, however can cause dizziness, it also helps in relaxation. Taken with acetaminophen, prazosin can greatly reduce aches associated with tremors common in PTSD. Hydration is important. Prazosin and a sleep aid similar to Tylenol pm can help with sleep, however a restless night here and there is not uncommon. I am thankful to have this medication, it is helpful"

For Anxiety and Stress "After a one time traumatic event I spiralled out of control into anxiety and depression. The medicine dampened my reaction to anxiety but didn't remove it. The worst part of anxiety untreated is that it damages parts of the brain that corresponds to your personality and joy."

For Anxiety and Stress "This medication has been sooo helpful in my ability to sleep and stay asleep, no nightmares, and waking up in a calm and peaceful state. I had no idea that this medication for HBP could have such a positive effect on my severe PTSD and anxiety. My only concern is that I believe that doctors should REQUIRE people to take this medication only at nighttime. I took 2 capsules during the day, and when I got up about 20 minutes later, I fainted right to the floor. I am not even sure how long I was down. It scared me very much. Be careful! That warning in the directions is VERY true."

Minipress (prazosin) for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "Very effective in stopping many decades of violent nightmares. There was a difference for me starting the first night on 1 mg. After several weeks I'm now taking 3mg nightly and have had good success with sleeping better throughout the night. The times I do wake up I'm calmer than in the past, and can go back to sleep far more easily."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I just turned 61 today and have suffered from anxiety, panic, PTSD my entire adult life. Have taken every medication ever made. Have tried for years to convince MD's and shrinks that problem was physiological, e.g. something starts an adreneline rush, fight or flight kicks in and then it won't quit. Thus, I am in constant, 24/7 state of high anxiety. Finally my doctor told me about prazosin - said, try it, it can't hurt. First day, extreme sadness and depression. After that, startle response, adreneline and fight/flight and chronic panic-GONE- almost like magic. Too high a dose and they act like "happy pills"; not enough adreneline to motivate me to do basic chores, etc. Found the right amount--2 mg at bed each night, and I have a life. Wow."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I have been on Abilify, Lamictal, and Clonazepam for a year and a half with marginal improvement in my psychotic symptoms. Upon doing research, I learned that norepinehrine might play a huge role in psychotic symptoms in fear-based mental illnesses. I suffered from nightmares in addition to my paranoid symptoms. I convinced my psychiatrist to put me on Prazosin because it was an alpha-1 adrenergic blocker which reduces the amount of norepinehrine in the body. My theory was that if I reduced the amount of norepinehrine being produced, that I would see a reduction in my paranoia. My theory has proven to be true as I have been on prazosin for 3 weeks now. A miracle indeed."

For Anxiety and Stress "I was given prazosin for PTSD and anxiety. Childhood trauma and 4 recent family deaths that traumatized me again. Took first last night, and stood up hour later and felt very faint, been up all night on and off and when I did sleep I had huge nightmare with my screaming again. This morning I feel very hung over with headache and still some shakiness - this is all cause I had to move out of State and new doctor family doctor stopped my lorazepam and making me suffer needlessly (everything else has massive side effects and all SSRI’s cause heart palps ). Good luck, this stuff is too scary."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I take 4mg at night and feel terrific in the morning! Some nausea at bedtime, but totally worth it to have a good night sleep. I also take Viibyrd. I have noticed a significant amount of weight loss too. I have lost over 48 pounds in four months time. I'm happy, very focused and feel well rested. My depression has faded as the weeks go by. I'm glad the DR. felt comfortable putting me on Minipress. I was taking so may pills that had me in a continuous circle. Now I'm on two medications and they are working wonderful together! It sure beats 7 different medications working against each other."

For Anxiety and Stress "Is it possible to have a reverse reaction to this drug? I started 1mg per day and I’ve had INCREDIBLY vivid dreams, about 8 dreams per night. thankfullly none are nightmares but some are stressful like a dream about my boss yelling at me. I also can’t stand up for long about 3 hours into it, I get dizzy, I start hearing colors if that makes sense, and I lose touch with reality. It’s all relieved by sitting or lying down again. The last but not least side effect is heart palpitations which are exacerbated by even the least physical activity like standing up. I assumed this was just first dose syndrome and it would work properly once my body adjusted to it. The thing is, it’s been two weeks now and I’m starting to think these opposite effects aren’t gonna go away"

For Nightmares "I have been off & on Prazosin in the past few year @ 1 & 2 MG's. In between the times on prazosin, I was also put on Cyproheptadine (also for nightmares). I have now switched back to Prazosin as it helps me fall asleep and @ higher doses, DOES NOT give me violent OR devastating nightmares, keeps me in bed all night (no getting up in by he middle of the night snacking and sleeping the WHOLE night through without waking up! In fact, on the contrary, I have real, pleasant and some times joyous & funny dreams whene I even talk them out loud (which is usually funny and/ realistic, but NOT scary OR nightmarish, AT ALL. LOVE PARSOZIN, although, I feel that I need a higher dose now."

For Nightmares "I was put on prazosin to help with nightmares that were causing sleep problems. The very first night I took it was the first night in three months I didn't have a nightmare and slept through the night. I have been on it for 4 1/2 months now and had no nightmares. I have had some odd and sexual dreams but nothing disturbing."

For Nightmares "When I got back from Iraq in 2005 I've had PTSD related nightmares. I tried a lot of different prescriptions but nothing helped so I started self medicating with alcohol. But last year I had enough and went in to treatment and they prescribed me prazosin 1mg. Like a lot of other people it was a amazing I finally sleep though the night for my first time since 2005. 13 years later no more nightmares and it let me just drift to sleep on like other medications."

Minipress (prazosin) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I am 66 and have been taking 1 mg of Minipress/prazosin per day for BPH for at least 25 years. It works well with minimal side effects. I still get up about 1x per night to urinate but the stream is reasonably strong and I can fully empty my bladder. Missing a dose for 2 or 3 days results in noticeable degradation of initiation, stream flow and complete emptying of bladder. Some years ago I tried Cardura which had more impact on the BPH symptoms, but had unacceptable side effects on potency and desire. Minipress is available as a generic and for me is a superior solution."

For Anxiety and Stress "My new pysch prescribed this prazosin for hypervigilance. (I've been dealing with this since I was a child.) I was asked to pick up a blood pressure monitor and to keep track. My blood pressure is about 107 over 68 before my dose. It changed a bit over a three hour period, but the change was not significant. I took the pill with food. I did NOT experience any dizziness, nausea, or thumping heart beat. I slept ok. Woke up ~10 times, as usual, but went back to sleep quickly. I had dreams, but nothing scary or alarming. I woke up and my BP is still normal. So, I took my second dose. (I read it's best to take the first dose at night. Since my hypervigilance is during the day, I'll be taking the med in the morning.) I noticed a dull headache after taking the medication. I'm tired this morning (nothing new) and my vision is a bit off (this happens after I consume sugar, so it may not be related?) I'll rate the med based on side effects, day 1. Note: I am not a veteran."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I am 63 and have had CPTSD all my life. Prazosin has helped a lot. BUT it's been rocky. The first dose I took felt like a miracle. I was serene and amazed. But then my nervous system got confused. Used to the constant fight stimulus. I would get wired taking it before sleep. Took it during the day which helped. WHAT I experienced felt like when one's arm goes numb and then circulation returns. My whole body felt like it was coming alive again. It hurt but I knew it was good. My digestion worked better. (makes sense) I had insomnia about 3 nights a week. After 2 months I'm so so much better - hardly any hypervigilance, less nightmares. So decrease the dose if you need to and gradually build it up if you have the problems I had."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "Prazosin is the best thing that has happened to me. I've gone from 3-4 nightmares a week to occasionally one every other week, but when I have them I have no reactions and I forget the content immediately upon awakening. I don't have any side-effects or problems with lowered blood pressure in the morning. Seriously, ask your prescribing doctor about this medicine if you're struggling with nightmares. It will change your life."

For Nightmares "Jesus Christ I'll keep my nightmares I had before taking this. 1mg a night and each night I took it he said give it another try and when I did I couldn't wake myself up. It was like Freddie Krugers nut house. I thought my nightmares were bad before and not being able to sleep or just drop from exhaustion, but I couldn't wake myself up. They were intensified! I am scared now they'll stay with me. Now that I have stopped taking it I have some like that from time to time. So essentially it made them worse."

This has also helped his benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). My only concern is that this is also for lowering blood pressure and his is already low."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "This prazosin has helped my PTSD more than any other pill any dr has thrown at me. I even see improvement during the day. I still get triggered into fight or flight response but not as easy and it doesn’t last as long now. Also my therapy has really progressed since I’ve started it about 6 months ago."

For Nightmares "I had an event trigger increased anxiety, panic attacks and recurring nightmares. Dr let me know it sounded like PTSD and suggested I try prozosin in addition to my normal medications. I started off on the lowest end of the dosage and after a couple weeks it was working well. Every few weeks I found the nightmare would come back and I did have to up the dose. That would stop it for another few weeks or more and when it happened again I'd up it again and now I take the max dose (I think it's 10). It's improved my sleep since I'm not waking up from this panic dream every hour. Cannot recommend enough for traumatic nightmares. Do have one side-effect- if I smoke a cigarette in the morning it almost always makes me puke. Why?"

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "Suffer from ptsd and bipolar disorder. Reliving traumatic violence during nightmares, waking in pools of sweat, and physically defending myself for many years while attempting to sleep. In addition to 200 mg seroquel prescribed at bedtime for 5 years doctor added 3 mg prazosin 3 years ago. The results have been life changing. Very few night terrors. My wife feels safe sleeping beside me. I'm so appreciative to my psychiatrist for prescribing this medication. I can't recall any side effects. 30 years of living with this affliction have been all but been remidied. Thank you"

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I have PTSD from childhood trauma. I have had nightmares for decades. Not every night, but often enough that I would put off going to sleep until I passed out from exhaustion. The sleep deprivation was taking its toll, and I could barely function. I don’t remember where or how I heard about prazosin, but I asked my doctor about it and she put me on 2mg. I still was in a total rut about staying up late because I was afraid to go to sleep, so she prescribed trazadone too. I noticed the first couple nights that the dreams weren’t as bad, but I was still having them so my dr bumped me up to 4mg. That worked very well for about a year. Now I’m at 5mg and doing well. Maybe one nightmare a month. No side effects at all. I can’t say what a change this has made in my life, to get quality sleep for the first time in so many years."

I would ask the same question about a half dozen times within a three hour span. Terrible headaches too! Little did I know that those headaches was about my brain being fried. But I am told that this doesn't happen to people."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "Great meds...been taking zolpidem daily plus over the counter sleep meds every single night for a year...changed docs, gave me this for paranoia and nightmare, now I don't take zolpidem and otc sleep meds. My nightmare slowly changed to different dream, not to extreme anymore. I don't speed and beat red lights anymore when driving. This at night and bupropion in the morning will help you find peace. No negative impact on sexual performance. Still run 3k every day and work out."

Its been at least 2 years since I stopped taking Prazosin I still wet the bed from time to time. I am afraid to sleep in the same bed as my wife now because of this. I wish someone would have told me this could happen."
