For Anxiety "I have been taking Serax/oxazepam for 30 years for anxiety/panic attacks, works great! I started out on 10mg then after a few years was switched to 15mg. The past year or so I have been having trouble sleeping so the Dr. put me on 30mg to take only at night before bed which I do and it works great for sleep. So, I take the 15mg when I need them for anxiety and the 30mg only at night."

For Anxiety "After 43 years of anxiety/panic disorder, serax has helped me have a life. Dr's tried many other treatments until I ended up in ICU with my heart enzymes elevated. Theme 25 years ago Dr started me on Serax, which finally let me have a normal life."

For Anxiety "I have to admit when I was first perscribed this medication, I was very hesitant to take it. Like with all medications, I didn't know how this would effect me. And asking doctors and nurses, I still wasn't sure. After the first time I took it, I felt better than I have had in a long time. I was calm and very relaxed. I had a small headache, that felt like a mild hangover, but that was the only side effect I had. I highly recommend this medicine."

For Anxiety "I would not use this medicine for more than a year. While it was effective - the side effects - began to be more problematic than the medication was worth. Wish I would have stopped it much sooner than I did and one must wean off - not go off cold turkey. My doctor apparently did not know this."

For Anxiety "I have chronic pain problems and a huge stress level so I haven't been sleeping. The doctor gave me a few of these to try and I found Serax definitely helps with sleep. I had my first 6 hour sleep in a row last night. "

For Anxiety "Effective when having a particularly bad day on antidepressants but less effective when not on antidepressants. Find anxiety symptoms aren't overly settled in comparison to Lorazepam unless you take a couple. Plus they take 45 mins minimum to kick in and during an attack, isn't helpful. When not taking antidepressants, got up to 45mg on very bad days but was down to 1-2 tabs a month on antidepressants."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I was prescribed 15mg Serax to take the edge of my anxiety while trying to stop drinking. I didn't have bad withdrawal (i.e. trembling, convulsions, etc) but I needed something to take the edge off. Serax was great for that. I knew when I took a dose around "happy hour" time that I couldn't drink because of the medication so I simply moved on with my life. It made me sleepy and I slept well and woke up with a great deal of energy. Then I read about the addictive aspect of Serax. My doctor said it was safe to use for 2-3 weeks but I was feeling addicted after five days and stopped. Given the choice of alcohol or Serax addiction I'd vote for Serax. My life was good using it."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I was administered Serax 10mg HS for sleep while undergoing inpatient alcohol withdrawal. I was also administered Valium 10mg TID/QID to prevent seizure, along with Dilantin. Despite the medication, I experienced a withdrawal seizure of 3 minutes' duration which led to my being treated and released at a hospital emergency room, where I was administered exactly 1mg of Ativan and treated like dirt because of my status as an alcoholic. The Serax helped me to get a little sleep after three nights of total insomnia, which is a common experience for persons in alcohol withdrawal. The onset of seizure is exacerbated by the total sleeplessness. I recommend Serax for sleep during alcohol withdrawal, but benzodiazepines must be used with caution by persons with addictive personalities, as addiction to "benzos" is common, and withdrawal from "benzos" is a serious, life-threatening process due to 'status epilecticus:' a seizure that cannot be stopped, followed by months of severe panic attacks."

For Anxiety "I was given 15mg oxazepam capsules for panic attacks while titrating up on Prazocin. I also take 40mg of Valium a day for PTSD. Serax is a low potency benzodiazepine with a short-intermediate half life. I have found that out of every benzo this one takes the longest to kick in, approx. 1 hour on an empty stomach. It's not as "intoxicating" as Valium is but it still has a marked anti anxiety effect. It is very similar to Librium. I was going through a nightmare with panic attacks and depersonalization/flashbacks and the Serax definitely helped soften the blow."

For Anxiety "I tried them all! This is the only benzodiazepine that works for my anxiety. Definitely better than Xanax Ativan or Kolonopin. I highly recommend!"
