Amitiza (lubiprostone): I've been taking this medicine for about 6 months, and it has made a world of a difference. I've had constipation for over 8 years, I'm in my late 20s, healthy, female, & moderately active. Things that normally would give others runny diarrhea, like prune juice, I would barely see any effect. After being tired of painful amounts of fiber intake & OTC stool softeners that didn't help enough, my doctor put me on this twice a day, & it works great. I had few side effects, and only for about a week.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): A person has to decide if it is worth the less serious side affects of nausea and headache and I have to say that it is. It is brief and therefore, I feel that the alternative is much worse. It has only been a full week and I am hoping these less serious side affects will subside eventually when I get used to taking it on a regular basis.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): I just began taking Amitiza and had immediate results. I've stuggled with this condition all of my life. No side effects except I feel a bit tired. If that's all I have to deal with, that's fine with me. The alternative is much worse.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): I would be much happier if nausea wasn't a part of this. That's the one side effect that makes it hard to deal with.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): I only experienced some slight nausea and abdominal pain that was worse when taking the medicine on an empty stomach.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): I noticed on the previous reviews that nausea and headache are a problem. I had those too when I first starting using amitiza but have learned that you MUST take it with a FULL meal and drink lots of water and both side effects won't happen. I love the results!!

Amitiza (lubiprostone): Definite improvement in regularity, however slight feeling of tiredness and, fatigue which I hope will go away with time as I adjust to medication.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): If taken as prescribed, it worked wonders. I am very happy my doctor had me try this. I've taken so many over the counter drugs, with a lot worse side affects. This works for me.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): I am 71 and have had constipation all of my life. I've tried OTC products (all of them) and even some prescription products. I take 4 of this per week with plenty of water. More give me some cramps. However, my constipation is finally under control. It isn't easy, but I do get results about 4 times a week. That beats 1 or 2 with a lot of bleeding from strain. I may increase to 7 times per week and see if the cramping stops. I have a superlong colon which has caused the chronic constipation.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): Had side effects - not even understanding it was from this medication. Went to Doctors many times with flu like, systems and breathing problems with chest pains. After stopping this medication after being on it for months, it has now been a week, my breathing still has not returned to normal as of yet. PLEASE if you have any flu like symptoms, breathing problems, or even seem to just have a change in your voice, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): I was nervous taking this after reading the reviews, but this medicine has been great! I first started out taking the 8mg twice a day, and was using the bathroom every third day. I moved up to the 24mg twice a day, and I actually use the bathroom once a day. The first time I took it, I did have stomach cramping during the night, but that just lasted for one night. I have had no side effects what so ever. My stool is actually what it is supposed to look like and I feel great. I used to be on Zelnorm and I miss that so much, but this medicine seems to do its trick. Hopefully this one will stay on the market. Don't be afraid of trying this at all after reading some other reviews.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): I have been on pain medicines for the last 6 and 1/2 years. My doctor finally gave me some samples of Amitiza. When I haven't gone in so many days, I just take two pills late in the evening and they work great in the morning. I haven't noticed any side effects at all.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): I began taking Amitiza twice a day in 2007 and like others in this room swore by Zelnorm. My experience has been great, although it seems I need to stop taking it for a few days every 4 to 6 months to reboot, so to speak, as it begins to diminish effectiveness. I'm curious if the extra long colon plays into our problems? I deal with this as well.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): I have had chronic back pain for years, taking pain pills and was always constipated. I was miserable. My doctor prescribed Amitiza and I have had excellent results. No more straining and trying one laxative after another. Absolutely no side effects. What a great medicine!

Amitiza (lubiprostone): I found Amitiza moderately effective as a laxative, mostly just reducing straining. The side effects were outstanding, however. Abdominal sensations went from offensive to extremely pleasant. I spent the whole week that my presciption lasted laying around feeling like a cat in front of the fireplace. I don't think my doctor approved.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): I've on this medication for a full week and I haven't had any results yet. I'm drinking lots of water as I always do, and staying active.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): I have had very severe chronic constipation for over two years that has just seemed to get worse and worse over time. I've tried Amitiza on a few occasions over the last couple years and each time has been a awful experience. It works but it takes about 3 days and those 3 days are unbearable. Horrible gas and bloating, headaches, cramps, nausea, not to mention the pain in my back and sides from the severe bloating. I gave a friend some of my samples and it worked wonders for her, she had none of those side effects. Everyone is different, it's always worth a try.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): I have been constipated for the past 8 months following an injury that left me with two broken vertebrae. Nothing seemed to help. Went to GI and they ordered a scope. Started me on Amitiza. I had been taking Miralax and Ducolax as well as the occasional stimulant laxative. The day I started on Amitiza I destroyed my bathroom. Very few side effects. I take the 8mg dose. People that complain of bad side effects are probably taking the higher dose. It's literally like the scene from 300 where the Spartan kicks the Persian in the chest and he falls down the well. It's like Amitiza is doing that but in my colon.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): Have taken it for one day and I feel better already. When you go to the bathroom once a week, you look for anything that will help. It's Tuesday and 2 movements already this week. It's great.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): I have had Chronic Constipation for over 10 years, I would only go once a month usually the first day of my period. I have tried all types of medication and had procedures done because I thought something was wrong. I spoke with my doctor and she prescribed Amitiza to me the price was crazy even with my insurance but I was willing to try anything I took it for 15 days. I am very active and drink water like crazy and did not have a single bowel motion during that time. I am disappointed, thought I had found a solution to my problem. Back to the drawing board.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): I started taking this medicine 4 days ago and so far it hasn't done anything for me at all, but then I don't have chronic constipation or IBS, so I'm really not sure why my doctor prescribed it. I have sudden, severe, acute constipation. The good thing is that even though it hasn't worked, it hasn't caused any side effects.

Amitiza (lubiprostone): I have been taking Amitiza for about a week now. I have been having an average of 1 bowel motion per day! I used to move only 3 per week, so I'd say it is working wonders so far.

lubiprostone: Don't want to sound like a commercial for this stuff but I have suffered with constipation for many years (had tried every herbal and OTC concoction I could find) and after only a couple of weeks of taking this medicine I was finally regular again. And no side effects at all.
