Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection: I am a 27 year old woman and was prescribed Levaquin 500mg for 7 days (by my obgyn for a suspected UTI post surgery-I had a D and C). I hardly ever have UTIs. My Levaquin, with insurance, was $55. I do not take pharmaceutical drugs regularly, but I figured since this was post surgery I should do as the doctor says. I read the drug pamphlet before taking the pill. On day 3 of taking Levaquin, I started a muscle twitching in my right middle toe. I researched reviews of this drug on the internet and stopped immediately.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Bacterial Infection: SEVERE EAR INFECTION WITH MUCH MUCUS FROM NOSTRILS. LEVAQUIN 750MG DIDN'T HELP. AFTER TAKING IT I FELT MY HEART WAS BEATING SOMEWHAT HARDER. REQUESTED SOMETHING ELSE THAT ACTUALLY WORKED.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: Was just given Levaquin for sinus issues, but after reading all the reviews, I am pretty scared to actually take it. I'm only allergic to sulfa medicines, but I had psoriasis as it is, so don't need excess drying or itching!

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection: I get urinary tract infections quite frequently, about 4 to 6 per year and I am always prescribed Levaquin. By the third dose I begin to feel better but I start getting the bad side effects, stomach upset, vomiting and diarrhea. It also makes me very fatigued.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: Was prescribed levaquin 750mg/5 day dose on June 22, 2009. First week no bad symptoms except for insomnia and nightmares. It did knock out sinus infection temporarily (10 days) but then sinusitis returned. It wasn't until week 3 after using this drug that I started noticing joint pain in elbows, knees, shoulders and lower back. It's November now and things haven't improved. Along with tendinitis symptoms I've also loss muscle strength in calf's, biceps and will experience burning in hamstrings after doing simple things like cutting my lawn. I hope this goes away or somebody offers a remedy to counter these effects.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: I took Levaquin 500 three years ago and it worked great. I felt better in one day, but of course finished the course of the antibiotic. I had no side effects that I can remember, and was VERY happy that it quickly got rid of the crud I had (Bronchitis). I was prescribed Levaquin 750 for Sinusitis this week and am on my second day of taking it (will take it for 5 days total). The first day, I kept spacing out and forgetting what I was doing. It's not as bad today. I also feel soreness in certain parts of my body...my wrists, elbows, and one side of my neck. I also had mild insomnia, and I never have a problem sleeping normally. I'm still happy with Levaquin and these side effects seem mild at the moment.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Prostatitis: I was given a month supply and after 2 days the side effects are to great I just can't take it anymore. I wake up in the middle of night to use restroom and will be so dizzy I feel like I will be about to faint. I'll sit down to use restroom and my arms and hands start to tingle. My calves are also VERY sore. I'm not allergic to any other medication that I know of either. Doctor is calling in a different medicine tomorrow.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Bronchitis: I have noticed that I have a difficult time sleeping but the worst thing is the yeast infection. My doctor said this almost always happens on this med with women that have a tendency to get one so you must decide if it is a necessary evil. I hate antibiotics as a whole, but feel a bit better after only one dose. I have been taking it at night because I was afraid of the dizziness and other side effects during the day.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: I was prescribed Levaquin for a sinus infection. I have a lot of sinus infections. I have been on quite a few antibiotics. I had an allegic reaction from Amoxicillon earlier this year. Hives and sores all over for 1 month. I am on day 4 of Levaquin and yesterday I had mild chest pains which went away after I took a dose. Maybe it was from the sinus infection. Have been sleeping ok though. Today my thigh bone has started hurting. Never has before. Will see what tomorrow brings.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: I was given a 10 day prescription after sinus surgery. The pros are 1) I only have to swallow one pill per day 2) It doesn't bother my stomach (other antibiotics have in the past) and 3) I've not gotten a yeast infection. The con is that it seems to totally dry me out. I take it in the evening, and my mouth/nose/lips are incredibly dry regardless of the amount of water I drink all night long. It is uncomfortable enough to keep me awake. I also experience dryness during the day, but not the same severity.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: Seemed to clear up sinus infection but side effects were scary. Had anxiety and felt very cold. Then the shaking started, mainly legs muscles. Was resolved after about an hour by taking Ativan. Blood pressure was very high the next few days - can"t say for sure if that was related. Also had nose bleeds.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: Prescribed this for sinus and double ear infection which was not cleared by a 3 day course of Zithromax 500mg. After 2 doses of one pill per day I had SEVERE stomach pains and was told by doctor to discontinue use.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Pneumonia: I had mild to severe coughing for several months, tried several other antibiotics and nothing worked until Lavaquin. I almost gave up. Two weeks ago went into the emergency room on Las Vegas with increased breathing and coughing problems. Blood tests, lung xrays, cat scan, oxygen, etc. etc. Two to three days after taking some prednisone, and a 10 day prescription for Levaquin all seems to have completely cleared up!!!

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Streptococcal Infection: Had an on again, off again strep virus for the last year. 24 hours later after taking Levaquin and I can tell a difference. Obviously a powerful medicine. If you are an experienced sinus/throat person and you've tried all of the over the counter medicine, alternative and weaker antibiotic version give this one a try. There are risks to taking this medicine. If you are not to sensitive, do it! This seems to be the only one with any effect that I tried.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: Upon taking Levaquin I have currently what unfortunately hundreds of other people have from this drug (I found out too late) - an inexplicable torn Achilles heel and the destruction of my right ulnar nerve. I went through four months of physical therapy for my Achilles heel which did not completely heal, and also through surgery to relocate my ulnar nerve to hopefully aid in healing. The healing of the nerve will take over a year as I write this. In both instances the neuropathic surgeon, nerve doctor, and occupational therapist were initially at a loss as to the cause.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: I was prescribed Cephalexin for a 20 day course for a horrid sinus infection. I had a throbbing headache, lots of mucus, etc. but I wasn't feeling any better so I was prescribed Levaquin. Within the first three days of using Levaquin I felt incredibly tired; just weak, laying around all the time, and unable to sleep during the night. My eyes felt droopy all the time, I was dizzy standing up, my heart raced when I walked up the stairs, and finally on my fourth day taking the medicine I was startled. This had been going on for a couple days, but my head and left shoulder started twitching consistently. I literally could not keep them still. I got worried and called the doctor and was told to stop the drug. I guess it was too powerful for me!

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Bladder Infection: If you don't drink enough water, you'll probably get a major headache. I have also experienced nausea and dizziness, again probably due to not enough water. It did clear up my infection though.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Bronchitis: I have been diagnosed 19 years ago with Sarcoidosis...more recently I have been told I have chronic bronchitis (have never smoked). This will be my fourth time taking this medication. It is prescribed at 750 mg. Usually I am taking prednisone with it, but I have weened off of the prednisone after being on it for two years straight. This will be my first time using Levaquin without the prednisone. In the past, I am very tired during the day and dizzy if I get up too fast. The medication has worked for me in the past, quieting down the coughing. It should be interesting if it is as effective without prednisone.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Bronchitis: I feel better after taking this medicine for 5 days. I am experiencing some dizziness and lack of appetite. I'm not feeling as much improvement as I hoped I would by this time. Sleeping well still and no hyperactivity. I do notice lots of tenderness in my Achilles tendons on both sides. We will see after 5 more days. I got the medicine for bronchitis 500 mg for 10 days.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Streptococcal Infection: Had a secondary staph infection from an athlete's foot problem. Went to ER, gave me some antibiotics (forgot the name). Five days passed and no relief; saw a dermatologist and he put me on the Levaquin. First night was like World War III in my foot. Almost ran back to the ER, but you could feel this medicine working. Two days on the pill and swelling and redness subsided significantly. Third day, I could walk again and zero pain from the infection. This medicine works. Now, I'll admit that I've had sore Achilles tendons and I could feel the medicine working its way up into my knees. However, considering the pain I was in, I am okay with the trade off. Very expensive medicine - but works!

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: My doctor always prescribes Levaquin for bad sinus infections and congestion because of my many drug allergies. I LOVE Levaquin. Within hours of the first dose all of the mucus in my head and/or chest starts to make a mass exodus. At times, the volume and swiftness that it drains can choke you -- but this medicine works and it works FAST. It's made me cough so hard I gag, but all of my coughs are super productive, if not overly so. I recommend this to anyone wanting to get better and back in the saddle at warp speed.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Otitis Media: I just finished a 10 day dose for a severe ear infection. After the second dose I began to experience extreme anxiety attacks, sleepless nights, total confusion, and thought I was losing my mind. I have had Xanax prescribed to relieve the anxiety attacks and I am hopeful that the attacks will stop now that I'm done with the Levaquin.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: I took Levaquin for a sinus infection. It cleared the infection but had terrible side effects. My heart was racing, pulse was like I had ran a marathon. It shot my potassium levels off the charts (had to take medication to flush my system of that).

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Bronchitis: I started my first dose of 750mg last night before reading the adverse side-effects! Big mistake. I only slept one hour, which was 4:40am to 5:30am and it was fitful. I feel extremely energetic, even hyper. I don't even feel tired! My face was getting red around 9:00am and now my face, neck, chest and shoulders are bright red and painful. I feel like I'm super sun-burned. I called the pharmacist and she told me to take some Benadryl immediately and call my Doctor. I'm waiting on him to return my call. It doesn't matter since I don't plan on taking a second dose. This is really a very powerful antibiotic and I my breathing feels much better even after one dose. If I wasn't having such a bad allergic reaction, I would recommend this medicine.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: Have had a serious sinus infection for 5 years now. It's been getting better, but it flares up every few months. 10 days ago, on the last flare up, the doctor prescribed 10 days of Levaquin. On the first day I experienced strange dreams/nightmares, but I stuck with it. My sinuses haven't been this clear since before the initial infection, even though other antibiotics were tried and failed. The real test will be weeks or months after I'm done with this dose.
For now, Levaquin is the best thing I've taken for these sinus problems. Within 48 hours, my sinuses felt clear again, and now I'm starting to feel normal - for the first time in 5 years.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Kidney Infections: I was put on Levaquin due to a nasty kidney infection that was found (finally) after I went to the ER because of severe seizures. I have epilepsy, Pallindromic arthritis, and Lupus. After reading this information. My husband picked up the script for me and he was told that these needed to be taken at the same time. Now I am bothered because the side effects of this drug are very much like what I live with daily (joint pain, rashes, seizures, insomnia, etc). I am wondering if this drug is really a good fit for me? But my kidney is GRATEFUL.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Kidney Infections: I only had to take this once a day for about 7 days. It is expensive but most insurances cover it. It really made a significant difference in just a few days. I loved this because I have trouble remembering to take medication more then once a day.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Urinary Tract Infection: I was on a 3 day dose, and wouldn't have been able to stay on it any longer than that. My skin became red and dry. Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Kidney Infections: Levaquin started relieving symptoms in about three days, but developed terrible red, itchy skin rash after a morning outside. Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Prostatitis: I am 21 years old and my doctor put me on Levaquin for 10 days, so far everything is good all my prostatitis symptoms have gone away, the only problem so far is some of the side effects of the Levaquin. I noticed that it makes my skin or tendons very tender. The first day I used it I was cooking eggs in my kitchen, I had to stop for a second because I felt some pain in my hand. I looked at my hand it was red right where it was gripping the frying pan handle. As of right now I've been having a very difficult time falling asleep.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: Had severe sinus infection caused by allergy and polyps. Treated infection with Zithromax and would get relief as long as treatment lasted. Within days symptoms would start to return. First Zithromax treatment was for 5 days then twice in 14 days. Went to a specialist and he recommended surgery for the polyps and prescribed Levaquin for the infection. Felt relief within days and weeks later no recurrence of the infection.
Will still need the surgery. I've had it twice before. The recovery time from surgery is about 3-4 weeks and very miserable but worth the agony for the relief it brings.
Due to the side effects, etc., be sure it's an infection and not just a virus prior to starting antibiotic treatment.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: I was prescribed Levaquin for acute sinusitis and I had a horrible experience after only the first dose. My arms, hands and ankles were tingling and my knees hurt. I got extremely cold and was shaking uncontrollably. It was then I read the 10 page 'black label warnings' that the pharmacist gave me. This drug will do severe damage to your tendons and after only one dose, I was feeling the effects. My joints kepts popping non-stop with everything I did - walk, type, etc. My joints ached as well. My DR immediately switched me to another drug. The literature claims people can blow out their tendons rather easily, even months after taking the medicine. Not worth the risk of future joint damage when there are other drugs out there.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Pneumonia: I've been given this medicine twice - once for serious bronchitis/pneumonia that nearly required hospitialization. Since I am a well trained athlete, hospitalization for a lung infection was serious. Doctors tried several other drugs before the Levaquin, but Levaquin was best. Now dealing with a relatively minor bronchitis and have it again. I've never had any of the side effects others listed - bear in mind that weakness and headaches and many other symptoms might just be the progression of the disease and not due to the drug. It's hard to tell since each bout is different but compared to many other drugs, this is statistically a very good bet. If you have bronchitis or a respiratory infection, take your medicines with lots of fluids.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: I have been taking Levaquin now for 4 days and feeling great. I have been suffering with a severe sinus infection. For the first 4 days the doctor put me on 2000mg/day of amoxicillin but I continued to be sick. After the 2nd dose of Levaquin I began my recovery. I had difficulty waking up during the night due to head pain prior to taking the levaquin, but have experienced some insomnia and vivid dreams while cat-napping. Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Bronchitis: This is the first time I have taken this medication and I am on my last pill (I was given 7 pills - one for each day and I take it very early in the morning). I too have developed a sore on my upper lip. Nothing drastic but, I think, relevant with this particular medication. Since beginning Levaquin, each day I note additional tiredness. The last couple of days I could sleep around the clock, though the first day or so on the medication. I also feel lightheaded particularly during the morning hours and I have little energy for every day chores. My breathing has gotten better though.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Prostatitis: I just finished 20 days of Levaquin. It certainly has helped and I'm hopeful the prostatitis is over. The reason I visited this site was to see if Levaquin was the reason for two episodes of swollen lips. The first was a big swollen lower lip at church a week ago and tonight, a swollen upper lip. The only other person to comment on this medicine on this website also had this problem. Aside from looking grotesque in a very primitive way, it doesn't seem a big problem.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Bronchitis: This medicine has really helped me. I've been drinking lots of water anyway, and the Dr. also gave me Mucinex and Tessalon to help with productive coughing. Thank God for modern medicine.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: After 10 days on Levaquin, my sinusitis is better but the side effects are killing me. My mouth is so dry and I'm having horrendous dreams that are so vivid and disturbing. I can't wait for the cycle to be over.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Bladder Infection: Within 24 hours of beginning the medication my urinary tract pain was noticeably better. I had lots of anxiousness & trouble sleeping though. This could be because I took the medication about 1 hour before dinner every night. Thanks for the helpful site.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: I was given levaquin for a sinus infection and bronchitis. After first dose the sinus pressure was gone and after the third dose the chest congestion was breaking up. I am on the fourth day now and feel much better than I did five days ago. I was also told to take Musenex. Next time I wont wait two weeks before going to the doctor. The only side effect I have is the itching all over, but that is much better than not being able to breath.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Bronchitis: I Have been taking Levaquin for 3 days for bronchitis. Having difficulty sleeping and have no appetite, along with headache and a persistent fever. Pharmacist never told me to take the medicine with a full 8 oz glass of water. Might have been good to know. So far, still have bronchitis, coughing up mucus and needing an inhaler. I have never used an antibiotic that after 3 days I remain ill. Jury is out however, as I may be better...soon I hope.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Bronchitis: I don't like Levaquin at all. The doctor prescribed this to me after going in for acute sinusitus and bronchitis. He said it was a strong medication. The first night I woke up suddenly with a massive headache, and then heartburn. The next day I noticed more problems which made me feel even worse than my original ailments. I had cold sweats, felt nervous, anxious and like I was losing my mind! I couldn't sleep.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Prostatitis: I took this a few years ago for prostatitis and after 1 pill I got hives on my lip. I took it again the second day and got more hives on my lip so I discontinued it. I forgot about it and for some reason saved the prescription. Anyway, I got prostatitis again and forgot about the hives, so I just took one this morning and within an hour I had a big hive on my lip. It has been a little over 2 hours now and it is begining to go away. I am not allergic to any other medication I have ever taken.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: I've been taking levaquin for a sinus infection. I am on only my second dose, but yesterday after taking my first dose I felt immediate results. Much less nasal discharge than in the days and even hours prior. I had no problems with sleep, in fact that night was the first time I slept through the entire night in weeks, without even waking up to go to the bathroom.

Levaquin (levofloxacin) for Sinusitis: I have a sinus infection that hasn't responded to any other treatments and I had decided to ignore it but 3 months have passed and it's gotten into my chest too. I was put on a Bacitrin and that did nothing so the Dr put me on Levaquin and thus far, I can say i haven't had any issues with sleep, I actually fell asleep watching TV last night and slept fairly well considering I have a ton of coughing congestion in my chest and that awful sinus discharge-we'll see how the rest goes/if it works.
