Lupron Depot (leuprolide) for Prostate Cancer "69 years old. Had seed implants 16 years ago . PSA slowly creeped up and due to an incompetent doctor, it spread to my spine before getting any treatment...Thankfully , I made a visit to another MD and got 1st class care. I just had my 2nd Lupron injection (3 month interval). No side effects other than mild hot flashes. I keep a strenuous exercise program in place and I thinks that helps a great deal . On Zuniga also. PSA down to .50 from high of 17"

Lupron (leuprolide) for Prostate Cancer "at age 60 biopsy showed prostate cancer psa was 10. had it out. After it was out, psa still ten. Started Lupron and psa dropped to 0 for two years. Then my doc suggested I go without the lupron... I did for 8 months and my psa climbed to 4. back on lupron and it dropped to zero. Did lupron for another year, then went off of it again. Why? The side effects, bad arthritis hot flashes, weight gain, 30 lbs in first two months, then no more. No libido and everything shrinks. No body hair. It was a joy to get off that stuff for awhile but my psa started climbing again. Now back on Lupron, but no change in psa. Went to a monthly shot, my psa stayed at 4. Added Casodex, grew boobs, really bad. My psa is now 2. I've been fighting cancer now for 6 years."

Lupron Depot (leuprolide) for Uterine Fibroids "I had my first Lupron shot on August 10, 2012. I started bleeding August 21, and it is now September 29 and have been bleeding ever since. I've had a problem with anemia due to two fibroids. I had my second Lupron shot on September 10. I'm not sure I should continue this because I'm scared I won't be able to have surgery on November 2 due to anemia caused by blood loss. Overall, Lupron is not working for me."

Lupron Depot (leuprolide) for Endometriosis "Ok y’all I admit before taking Lupron Depot 11.25 Mg 3 month injection; I read every review I could find. I was disappointed to find mainly negative reviews but I took a leap of faith and decided to get the injection anyway. Within the first month I truly regret that decision. In tough situations I typically look for the silver lining. However I was not prepared for the extreme fatigue (No more 5am workouts), hot flashes all day every day, night sweats that literally leave my side of the bed soaked (it’s totally gross), but the topper is body aching and hurting down to my muscles and bones like I have the flu...every day going on 63 days straight. I am 38 yrs old, good shape, active when I started the injection I was 115lbs, I am now 130lbs with no energy. Needless to say I am declining the 2nd treatment and look forward to 2-6 months when all of the side effects should fully wear off and hopefully get my normal life back."

Lupron (leuprolide) for Prostate Cancer "Diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer involving bones. PSA was 130. Gleason score is a pair of bad 7s (4 3) and a pair of 8s. Also undergoing chemo with docetaxel. I've had 4 of 6 scheduled treatments. I also have xgeva injection monthly and lupron quarterly. I've had one lupron injection and 3 xgeva injections. After 42 days PSA dropped to 2.9. Three weeks later it was .7. That's a 98% drop each time. Was urinating 12 times a day about 4 to 6 ounces at a time and storing 9 ounces all the time. First treatment was docetaxel, xgeva and lupron on same visit. Relief was almost immediate. Eliminating 12 to 14 ounces now 4 to 5 times a day. Also take prednisone twice a day until chemo is done. Side effects have been fairly nominal."

Eligard (leuprolide) for Prostate Cancer "I have had my second dose of Eligard 45 mg, 6 months apart. Radiology convinced me I should do this to prevent the recurrence of cancer. I had a Grade 4, contained to the prostate. Had 28 radiation treatments. My PSA now is at zero. I have told the doctors I "will not" take any more hormone injections. My life has been ruined. I am turning 76, but been an active walker, biker, lifted weights, etc. all my life. Now I have intense bone pain all over my body, my muscles are half what they were, and I have hot flashes all day and night. I force myself to exercise, but life is now hell. I get depressed and emotional. Wish I had never taken the first injection. Not sure if my body will ever recover. The doctors need to educate their patients with proper data and let them make a choice."

Lupron Depot (leuprolide) for Endometriosis "This made my pain much worse. It is the worst experience I've ever had with a medication! The side effects are much worse than the endo pain! This medicine shouldn't be given to women for endo! I have been in the worse pain and depression that I've ever had in my entire life thanks to this medication"

Lupron Depot (leuprolide) for Prostate Cancer "I’m a 66 yo male who was diagnosed with moderately aggressive prostate cancer with Gleason score of 8 and PSA of 7.2. I’ve had 2 Lupron injections which have caused the following side effects: a chemical smell, muscle weakness, hot flashes, fatigue, PSA - <.01, insomnia, anemia, decreased leukocytes, decrease size of penis and testicles, bone pain in back and sacrum. I have one more shot in July. I was taking Zytiga for a while."

Lupron (leuprolide) for Prostate Cancer "Saving life is most important. However, so is quality of life. My husband of 30 years, the most stable, peaceful, fun, loving person I had ever met, completely disappeared with this drug. Physical side effects are horrible, but the potential psychological and emotional impact of this treatment can be even worse. And, it is not at all addressed by the medical community. He's gone for support, he's gone for counselling, but nothing seems to get through. The fact that he's alive apparently is not enough. SO, after dealing with this for so many years, I would strongly suggest that couples fully deal with this together. Your husband/or partner will become a completely different human being on this drug - and the impact is not reversible."

Eligard (leuprolide) for Prostate Cancer "My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer 2 years ago. Underwent surgery to have prostate removed as well as lymph nodes and some cancer that was on his bladder. He started the Eligard injections every 3 to 4 months since. His PSA levels have remained at a 1.0 until recently. A friend suggest he take a multi vitamin of Quercetin, zinc, stinging nettle root, Vitamin C and D3. He has been taking it for 3 weeks and just went back in for another injection. His PSA was 0 but yet they still gave him the injection. If his PSA is 0 why would he need another injection. He continues to suffer from all the same side effects of night sweats, frequent urination, mood swings, depression, and loss of memory. I want him to stop the shots but wondering if anyone else has quit taking the shots with a PSA of 0."

Lupron Depot (leuprolide) for Uterine Fibroids "I feel the obligation to share my experience as it might help someone looking for some answers. I was prescribed this Lupron Depo shot prior to my second fibroid surgery with the intention to shrink a large fibroid, as the 1st surgery was unsuccessful at removing the whole thing. I was bleeding significantly due to the fibroid and the only benefit of having this shot was that it did stop my bleeding completely for 3 months. Other that, I cannot ethically say anything positive about this shot. I started to have these large, painful cysts on my face that have yet to subside. It’s been 6 months since I got a 3-month dose shot and my face is still covered in cysts. Ironically, this shot also made my fibroid grew bigger. It took an additional 2 attempts to remove the fibroid. The whole point of the shot was to shrink it so only 1 more attempt would be needed. Please do your research. This shot completely messed up my hormones."

Lupron Depot (leuprolide) for Endometriosis "Worst mistake of my life!! I had one 3 month shot when I was 17 and I'm still regretting it (I'm 21 now). I was pretty much paralyzed while on it. I couldn't move on my own. I needed help to even sit up in bed. I missed so much school/work and cried almost all day every day. I was in so much more pain. I was constantly sick (vomiting, nausea, painful bowel movements, headaches, joint pains) and the menopause symptoms were absolutely crazy. I still to this day have stomach issues I didn't have before. I have bone density loss as well. I will never recommend this drug to any woman. It is not meant for us."

Eligard (leuprolide) for Prostate Cancer "I was given my first injection with Eligard on December 1st 2010. I started to have bone pain a little before this and a PSA of 116. It took control in about 2 days and the pain went. As I decided to wait until the pain returned (to see how long it would last) I had to have another one 6 1/2 months later. My PSA dropped to 0.17 the first time and 2.6 the second (where it is now). I will take a 3rd one in 5 months time and see if it goes beyond the 4 months for the 30mg to have effect. The date is 8th December 2011 and the 3rd one is due in March 2012."

Lupron Depot (leuprolide) for Uterine Fibroids "I was diagnosed with a 13cm fibroid. The doctor wanted to shrink it to be able to perform a lathroscopic hysterectomy. I was having CONSTANT heavy bleeding for months on end, even the transamic acid wasn't slowing it down. First drug we tried was Fibristal. It was supposed to slow the bleeding and shrink the fibroid. I took this for 6 months and it did ABSOLUTELY nothing. The doctor then suggested Lupron Depot. The first week on Lupron was hard. Bleeding was much heavier than before (which was already horrible). But by week 2 the bleeding completely stopped. By 5 months on Lupron my fibroid had shrunk to 11cm. A bit of hot flashes. Some fogginess/irritability, but that's normal for me...lol"

Lupron Depot (leuprolide) for Uterine Fibroids "I was so skeptical about these shots, scared to death of the side effects after reading posts...I could kick myself! My shirts fall past my waist, I always looked pregnant. Slight headache, took generic aspirin, did the trick, hot flashes, weird but no that bad. Cycle, had one regular (heavy) period then skipped. Overall, I was so satisfied, I just called and ordered my second shot (I get them quarterly). Everyone reacts different to different types of medication...what works for others may not work for you but this did work for me. Good Luck...Sorry for the grammer stuff was in a rush"

Lupron (leuprolide) for Endometriosis "I just finished my 3 month course of shots. The first two months were not to bad but the third month has taken its toll on me. I can deal with the hot flashes but the joint pain has become very intense. The pain is disruptive where my hands are aching all the time. It keeps me up at night time then lack of sleep becomes a problem. I wish they would suggest a joint therapy program for you to take if you need because its not like you can just call up your doctor and see him right away."

Lupron Depot (leuprolide) for Endometriosis "Honestly I was so sick of having surgeries constantly and so my OB recommended me trying Lupron for my endometriosis - 1 shot once a month for 6 months and longer if i would like to. I was told I couldn't have any more babies. I had tried everything and nothing worked to have another. Got on lupron for my extreme pain from endo and for the first month I got a horrible period like period then after that I didn't have a period. When I got off it I was prego and didn't even know. I got my rainbow miracle baby thanks Lupron and my endo hasn't returned since then thank goodness. Yes hot flashes, being sick in the morning, tired a lot because I couldn't sleep and mood swings from hell was all worth it. I will definitely be back on this if my endo comes back!!!! Definitely a 10 star review from me! (I stayed on lupron for 9 months)."

Lupron Depot (leuprolide) for Endometriosis "I would like to address women who already struggle with depression, insomnia, or mood disorders, like myself. If you're already bad off don't do this to yourself, it might be the final "push". I got the 3month shot (+add-back) and it made me suicidal. My moods went from extreme anger to sobbing, insomnia, HOT FLASHES, and my left arm kept going numb in daily activities! This went on for a month, at 2 months I leveled out. Not far into the 3'rd month the hot flashes came back, cold sweats (felt like drug withdrawal), and my pain was back! I went to my Ob/gyn 1 week early because of this to find I had grown 11 new painful cysts! It didn't even work, and to stop it is also unpleasant (withdrawals). Worst med decision I ever made! HELL!"

Lupron (leuprolide) for Prostate Cancer "I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in November of 2016 my PSA was 14.8 and my Gleason Score was 6. The good news is that the cancer did not spread outside to prostate and was in 9 out of 12 from the biopsy. I took Casodex for one month and had one Lupron injection then stared 44 treatments of radiation around treatment 20 my PSA went down to .09. After I complete radiation I have one more Lupron Injection to take then that is it no more Cancer I hope. The side effects are some hot flashes, weight gain, shrinking testicles and frequent urination. After my next and last Lupron injection I hope to be done with Cancer"

Lupron Depot (leuprolide) for Uterine Fibroids "I had the Lupron shot on 1st July 2019 for fibroids. It was fine for the first 2 weeks. Just slight breast soreness and general signs like I was gonna get my period. After the first 2 weeks, I started getting hot flashes, fatigue and memory loss. Had a lot of problems recalling thoughts. I never bled since I had the shot which was weird. I thought I'd get one last major period or something. I had surgery to remove my fibroid in early September. The fibroid never shrank. Guess the jab didn't work on me. I'm still getting the hot flashes and the body aches as well as fatigue has gotten worse. I also gained weight! I found the drug increased my appetite. I still haven't gotten my period yet. Kind of happy about that but worried my hormones are all messed up. For reference, I'm 40 years old."

After that I haven't bled since. I'm being treated for lifelong (23 years) Endometriosis. I have been disabled since 13 years old because of it. The only symptom I have had is SEVERE NON STOP hot flashes. I will have a hysterectomy in December."

Lupron (leuprolide) for Prostate Cancer "Nov. 2012 I had a double lung transplant. July 2014 I was told I had prostate cancer (this after several PSA's that never dropped below 4. My last was in the high thirties and I had had 3 biopsies). Had a radical surgery in November which included nerve scraping and removal of 11 lymph nodes. Post surgery I had no radiation but did have the long term Lupron injections twice. I was cancer free for a year and now it is back. Started Lupron again and the side effects are already out in full force (after 4 days). Because of my compromised immune system and the medications I must take for life and kidney issues as a result of the lung transplant I worry that the Lupron will not work. What would be an alternative treatment?"

Lupron Depot (leuprolide) for Endometriosis "I was actually on Lupron Depot for 18 months. My periods stopped within a week and my pain was gone within the first month. I almost didn't go on it because of the horror stories I read online, but I'm glad I did. My skin broke out more than normal, but nothing a little makeup couldn't hide. The hot flashes were intense at first, but slowly started to subside. After six months they completely stopped. I also fully understand night sweats. The side effects were well worth it to me since I no longer have cramps that hurt so bad I pass out. I am also enjoying being period free after never having a regular cycle and being anemic the better part of my life."

Lupron (leuprolide) for Prostate Cancer "I was diagnosed in September 2016 with prostate cancer, and I have been on lupron ever since, in between I had 37 radiotherapy sessions. I have to be on lupron 2 years, but I would love to end it now. It has done o/k at lowering PSA but my QOL has suffered greatly, along with that of my dear wife. My mental health has taken a big hit with extreme depression and anxiety and bodily I have no strength and no ED. It works great for some men without any side effects but for others like me they can be overwhelming. Best wishes to all on this journey. kluff."
