For Insomnia "I have been taking Dalmane 15mg for 30 years for insomnia. I tried newer medicines such as Lunesta, Ambien, Restoril, and Sonata. None of the newer medications worked. Dalmane has always helped me to fall asleep and get a restful night's sleep without needing to increase the dosage. Now that it has been discontinued, my doctor prescribed Temazepam 15mg. It is not effective and I am a walking zombie due to lack of sleep. I urge any pharmaceutical company to make Dalmane (Flurazepam) available once again. I rate it a 10!!!"

For Insomnia "Flurazepam is now being manufactured by Chartwell Pharmaceuticals starting the week of November 13, 2023. I haven't been able to fill my prescription yet, but making calls every day. Talk to your doctor/pharmacist and let them know Flurazepam is available. It's being distributed through McKesson, Cardinal, and Amerisource."

Dalmane (flurazepam) for Insomnia "I have been prescribed Dalmane (Flurazepam) as needed for over 40 years. I could take it 1-3 nights, and then sleep without medication for 1-3 weeks. When it was discontinued, my doctor and I tried various medications. NOTHING works like Dalmane. I am currently taking Ativan every night. Sleep quality is terrible, but going without results in no sleep. I know I'm not the only one who was forced into dependency when a safe and effective medication was removed from the market. Shame on the medical/pharmaceutical complex for putting profits way ahead of patients."

For Insomnia "Was on flurazepam for over 17 years, and went thru a hard time in 2019 with terrible withdrawals. Mylan is no longer producing it however, a smaller manufacturer will start producing it by August 2023. I found this on the FDA website and called the company."

For Insomnia "I took Flurazepam as needed for over 40 years. Worked great! Only side effect was next day fatigue. 1-5 days and I would sleep without medication for 1-3 weeks. Since it became unavailable in 2022 my doctor and I have tried everything. Either it doesn't work or the next day effects are horrible. Rising Pharmaceuticals now holds distribution rights. I have contacted them many times, and I encourage others to contact them. Maybe they'll stop dragging their feet. risingpharma.com 866-562-4597"

Dalmane (flurazepam) for Insomnia "I have taken Dalmane for 30 years during which time my sleep was effective, and I woke up feeling fresh and ready to tackle my day. Without it, I am like a zombie and feel anxious and unhappy. I am reading Chartwell Pharmaceuticals are making Flurazepam (Dalmane). Does anyone know if this is true? I live in the UK."

For Insomnia "I was on Flurazepam for 15 years, it was wonderful with my insomnia, it was the only thing that helped my fibromyalgia, depression and anxious anxiety. Now I am at a total loss I am not sleeping, I have the shakes, I just feel totally awful and there's nothing that can compare to this medication. I have been on nine different medications since they have discontinued this medication. Mylan should be sued for stopping this medication so abruptly and not giving us time to withdraw from it. I am miserable and don't know where to go from here."

For Insomnia "I have taken Flurazepam as directed for 40 years. 30 milligrams 2-3 nights in a row, and then I'd sleep 5-6 nights without a dose. I have tried everything over the years and it is either ineffective and/ or comes with terrible side effects. All I ever experienced with Flurazepam was manageable fatigue the next day. Safe and effective for me. Shame on Mylan and the company that bought them for discontinuing Flurazepam with zero warning. I read there is another company that will begin making Flurazepam in August 2023. Praying this is true."

For Insomnia "I picked up Flurazepam from Walgreens on January 9th. I slept for a quality 8 hours for the first time in over a year. I recommend getting a paper prescription from your doctor. If a pharmacy can't find Flurazepam in their system, try taking it to the next pharmacy. Different pharmacies use different ordering systems. It may take some effort, but Flurazepam is available in 15 or 30 Mg."

Dalmane (flurazepam) for Insomnia "I had been taking flurazepam 15 mg for about 20 years when it was suddenly unavailable. During the years I took it, I never experienced side effects or needed to increase the dosage. I was unwell for weeks when it was abruptly unavailable. I want it back asap."

For Insomnia "This has been the best med for occasional insomnia. I only discovered it after weaning off Klonopin over many years. Klonopin is very addictive. Flurazepam does not leave me groggy in the morning like Lorazepam. 15 mg. Is all I need. A 90-day supply of 30 was perfect. I'm now rotating 3 different OTC meds that work inconsistently waiting for a new pharmaceutical company to offer Flurazepam again. The cautions about sleep meds for seniors may be warranted but flurazepam is completely safe for me. I get good sleep once or twice a week taking it. I have no problem getting up in the middle of the night if I need to."

Dalmane (flurazepam) for Insomnia "I have been using Dalmane for over 30 years. It helped me with an extreme anxiety disorder and agoraphobia. Now I'm so anxious that I can barely stand it. It worked great! I have tried several others in the last few months and NOTHING helps at all. I will have to go cold turkey and am afraid of what's happening to me is only the beginning! I don't know why Roche is stopping making it, why would do this!! It's cruel!! I did not expect at 60 years old to put my heart and body through the extreme panic attacks. I am thinking about looking into a legal option for pain and suffering from Roche if they don't bring it back."

For Insomnia "Taken for 20 years. Then discontinued. Nothing has worked since. No sleep. Worked wonderfully for me. Then gone. Has anyone received the flurazepam by Chartwell since November? I have called my doctor's office to request it. The pharmacy told me they didn't have it, but would order it, but still couldn't guarantee it. Why does it have to be difficult to get a drug back that helped you so much? That will hopefully help me again if my body chemistry will ever be the same."

For Insomnia "I used flurazepam for over 40 years with no side effects. It's incredibly efficient, and reliably put me to sleep. The other commenters on the site are correct - nothing else is as good. Rising Pharmaceuticals now holds distribution rights. I have contacted them many times, and I encourage others to contact them. Maybe they'll stop dragging their feet. risingpharma.com 866-562-4597 - the last I heard was they will start producing this in December 2023/January 2024. I sure hope so - it's effective, has no hangover, and got me through 40 years of teaching. Temazepam works for about five hours, and then you're suddenly wide awake, and it's horrible. So I hope that Rising Pharma will bring this back. It's safe, it's effective, and I never abused it - just used it. 15 mg a night did the trick."

For Insomnia "I have taken flurazepam to sleep for over 10 years, it has always worked, never a need to increase etc etc. Now comes the problem, same as others, terrible withdrawal, had to go to de-tox and am still having symptoms. Add to that, I am having some kind of allergic reaction to something and my body is completely swollen ( especially my tongue) couldn't sleep now if I wanted too! Allergists think it's in my head because I am acting crazy now due to 9 weeks of no sleep, possibly still withdrawing and now a swollen body!! It angers me that these companies can just PULL a drug off of the market whenever they feel the need!! If anyone has found a drug ( not a benzo) that is working to help them sleep please put it out there to help all of us that are going through this craziness!! I have tried numerous things ( latest is Rozerem), not doing a thing.. Hate living a nightmare!!!"

For Insomnia "Like others, I have tried MANY different sleep meds and only Flurazepam has helped me get a good night's sleep. I was using 30mg capsules, and I would split them into 3 or 4 capsules so that I would use about only 10mg when I needed it, and it was very effective and non-addictive. I hope it's available again now."

Dalmane (flurazepam) for Insomnia "This medication helps me sleep very effectively, and the key word is "helps," not "makes." It is the only sleeping pill I have used that did not affect the way I felt the next day. (When I tried Restoril, it made me feel so terrible that my doctor advised me to mix the pills with coffee grounds to prevent others from taking them and throw them in the dumpster!) I really don't know what I will do now that this gentle, effective sleep aid is becoming unavailable. Never sleep, maybe."

Dalmane (flurazepam) for Insomnia "I had chronic insomnia and the Doctor tried Ambien, Lunesta, and some other hypnotic which the name escapes me right now. Those drugs (for me anyway) are worthless. I would get up in morning and find a mess in kitchen, (I live alone) and no memory of fixing food. Furthermore, began having terrible dreams/nightmares. So Doctor tried me on Dalmane, he said it has been on market for many years. It worked great. No 'hangover'. Slept 6 hours straight for first time in months."

For Insomnia "I’ve been on Flurazepam for 10-years. I began with 30mg and titrated myself to 15mg, all I needed. In 2020 when my pharmacy told me it was not available, I phoned Mylan, my physician phoned the two suppliers: Cardinal and McKesson. I was able to get 30mg only, no 15mg available, through a family owned pharmacy. CVS pharmacists said they have no ability to order a drug when the drug is not “in their system”, in other words, the corporation shows it as available or not. After phoning all major pharmacies, I felt lucky to find a pharmacist at the family business who said, “I can order it, sure. Just add another Rx, I won’t order only a controlled substance for you.” I added my thyroid, the only other Rx I take. Everything was fine until June 2022, it’s unavailable again. Forever?? I have now tried nearly all other sleep drugs and I’ve laid awake many nights, had dull headaches, felt like I’m out at sea walking to my own kitchen. Living a nightmare."

For Insomnia "it's not fair flurazapam was an excellent drug for sleep and now Mylan has changed the recipe to weaken the drug and they think no one can tell what they have done and that they are very wrong. Other weaker benoz's are now more effective than the once highly praised flurazapam."

For Insomnia "I have chronic insomnia for over 55 years, and It is inherited from my Mother’s side for at least 2 generations. However, 40 years ago, an MD friend, who knew me well, prescribed 30 mg Dalmane for me. It worked so well in that it gave great sleep, slight sleepiness next day, but then 3-5 nights of good sleep with 0 effects. Most importantly, no rebound effects like other benzodiazepines. Dalmane got a bad rap because of reviews/books (like Valley of the Dolls) directed towards Valium. I’ve been using it 1X per week for 40 years and now find there is really no substitute, because you don’t suffer anxiety of not sleeping the next night. It’s goes against dogma of faddish medical practice for insomnia ( I.e. short-acting drugs) and these always give you a bad rebound effect, causing even more anxiety). This drug should be resurrected and given “orphan drug” status. In my 70s, I’m frustrated and sleepless in that I can’t break a bad sleep cycle- which Dalmane always did."

For Insomnia "I have been on flurazepam 30 mg for 15 years, I found out two days before my cruise that they no longer made this medication. This was over 2 months ago I am going through severe withdrawals, and my doctor keeps prescribing me benzos which do not work. I have the shakes, I do not remember the last time I had any sleep, and I am irritated all day. Why would they make people go through this? I am 64 years old, this is the most horrible thing I have ever been through. The doctor cannot find anything to replace it because flurazepam was only one-quarter benzoid, it had a sedative in it. This is why nothing else works."

For Insomnia "I've been on the Rx for over 20 years. I am a Senior citizen and have multiple serious and some severe health issue. Not having access to this drug as a refill on January 3, 2020 is putting my LIFE AT RISK! I know this as FACT. Mylan is absolutely liable. There is nothing that takes this long to create. I've put off surgery to even ensure that their projected date for refill would come before my surgery but they do not care about PEOPLE. Big Pharma doesn't CARE ABOUT PEOPLE!"
