"I have been suffering from a bad case of melasma for the past 10 years. And I say suffering because anyone who has melasma understands how it makes you feel. Throughout the years I’ve tried everything there’s out there, peels, creams, lasers, etc. you name it! Expensive stuff, I never cared about the price - all I wanted was to get rid of it. Nothing worked. Triluma is my best option as of today. I used it and it clears up my skin. My case is severe, black, not just dark and on my entire face. I am Latina with an olive skin so for me to see a nice result I had to use it for 2 months at least if want to see great results and to eliminate it completely, 3 months. But I have to use it every night, use a lot of moisturizer because it dries out your skin but it works. People leaving negative comments are probably not doing it right, YOU MUST wear sunblock everyday and really after 2 hours if you don’t do it, it would probably make your melasma darker. Sunblock is our best friend"

"It's been eleven years since I used Tri-luma to try and get rid of melasma on my cheeks. I was referred to the doctor by a friend. He prescribed Tri-luma to use for a month and to use sun block and wear hats when out in the sun. I bought the tube for $240 from the pharmacy and I used it for two weeks because I have very sensitive skin. I should mention here that I am a black woman. In two weeks the melasma had gone and I was happy. I went for a review and the doctor told me to continue for the full month to completely clear my skin and gave me some alpha hydroxy acid to use with the Tri-luma. After a week, my skin turned bluish-black and I was alarmed. On the internet it said the condition is called erogenous ochronosis and is irreversible. It said it happens in dark skin and also the efficacy of Tri-luma had not been tested on black skin. I never went back to that doctor. And lately I read that the FDA actually forbids the use of alpha hydroxy acid with Tri-luma."

"When I started developing melasma on my upper lip I felt completely self-conscious. I found out about Tri-Luma and went straight away to my doctor and asked him to prescribe me Tri-Luma and he did, the price was $291 at Walgreens and was not covered by insurance so crossed the border and got the same exact tube for $37. I started using Tri-Luma As directed every single night, and using SPF 100 every morning, I didn’t notice a big difference the first month and I was a little disappointed but I didn’t give up, I continued to use it every night and after exactly 7 weeks my melasma is completely gone!! I am very happy with the results. I did experience redness, burning and peeling and that was very hard to cover up with makeup, but other than that this cream works amazing..."

"First time I have seen my cheeks in years! Prescribed by my regular doctor, and unfortunately not covered by insurance this ran me about $150 for the tube, but if you are like me - I spent many more dollars trying everything else. This is working, so it has been worth every penny! In 1 week I thought I was imagining things because the doc said to give it several weeks to make a difference. In 2 weeks, there was no denying a difference. I am at 3 weeks now, and I can hardly make out where my melasma once was, and had been there for almost 3 years. This has been a miracle for me, and I hope this review will steer someone to have a similar experience as I have had. Best of luck to you!"

"Some people have commented that their skin actually has gotten darker a few days after beginning to apply Tri-Luma. The same happened to me, but I realized that my problem was that after I applied Tri-Luma before bed time, I would read for about one hour with a light directly on my face. The chemicals in the cream were reacting to the light. I stopped the treatment for a few days. When again I started applying Tri-Luma, I immediately turned off the lights and went to sleep. That worked! After two months I now have about 90% clearer skin (I am olive skinned)."

"I have been suffering from a bad case of melasma on my upper lip and both cheeks for about 6 years. And I say suffering because anyone who has had melasma can understand how it makes you feel and the damage it can do to your self esteem. I did the obagi system 3 years ago and it helped but never completely got rid of it. I then tried other creams without hydroquinone and none worked and I went from cheap to expensive. I went to an esthetician and she recommended I got to my doctor and try Tri Luma before trying lasers as they could do more damage (I'm hispanic with olive skin). I started the Tri Luma reluctantly on April 26th and I cant believe how fast this works! My family has made comments how much better my skin looks already. My mom said it looked like I was trying to cover bruises with makeup and now she can't see the melasma under my makeup! I am not clear but its much much lighter in about 2 weeks."

"Nightmare. It appeared to work at first but once I stopped applying, my spots came back with a vengeance. Now my face is more stained with more spots than I’ve ever had. Anyone who suffers from melasma knows how devastating this feels. I followed instructions very well, religiously applying 50 SPF sunscreen twice a day and completely avoiding sunlight. Please don’t make the same mistake I did and ignore the bad reviews because it’s REAL."

"All I can say is Hallelujah!!!! God is so good, I got my skin back. I never had any skin problem until my first pregnancy at 27. I was not make up or any other cream user, but had the very clean face. Everyone, stops me and ask me what kind of make I use. But this became story after I gave birth to my first child. I have been struggling with it one day Dr. Simpson prescribed this cream for me. With in few days , the very brown spot on my nose went away. Good is so good!!!! Ladies with same problem, please give it try and hope you won't regret. May glory be to the Mighty LORD!!"

"It's a miracle and worth every single penny! 9 days of treating my face only at night and it's at least 75% gone. The dark spots on my face especially under one eye and a huge one covering half my forehead were extremely dark and stubborn. I've tried probably every over-the-counter spot remover possible and I didn't get very good results not to mention the amount of money spent. I didn't have anything to lose and found a miracle!"

"For over a year I had dark marks on my face from the sun. I used several of spots remover cream and nothing worked. I went to the Dermatologist and he prescribed Tri Luma. I used for 2 weeks and my spots were getting cleared. I have use it for 3 weeks and I love this cream. My cheeks are red most of the time but it really works. It doesn't dry my skin, it just appears as if I wear blush. I use sunscreen when I am out of the house."

"Amazing! I've struggled with melasma for a long time. I was so tired of my extensive make up routine and feeling embarrassed to be bare faced in front of my boyfriend, my confidence was shot. After researching many products to see if there was any hope I stumbled upon this gem of a page. Tri luma!! I can't praise this product enough, it's changed my life. I went out in public with no make up on for the first time in years. It took about a month to see drastic results. Don't be discouraged if you don't see results in one week, keep diligent with the routine and it will work. So worth the money."

"I am 39, Hispanic with fair skin. I broke out with Melasma on my forehead, cheeks, above my lips and below my eyes this past summer. I tried Rodan Fields brightening kit that cost over $300. It didn’t do anything but make me peel. So I figured if I am willing to pay that much for non prescribed items, I should pay $237 and get it from my doctor. I started using this 3 days ago. Literally used it 3 times as of now, and already notice a big difference. I honestly think that it will be gone within a week at this rate. I don’t know if this made all the difference, but I did use my dermaroller each time BEFORE I applied the Triluma. So I would guess that maybe it allowed for better absorption than if I didn’t? But I am not an expert so this is just my assumption."

"I have very mild sun damage and my skin was just starting to look dull and tired. I take care of my skin, exfoliate regularly and moisturize. But I am in my early 40's and just didn't seem to have a "fresh" looking complexion anymore. HELLO TRI-LUMA! I just started using this product after my doctor suggested it. I don't have enough damage or problems to warrant peels or more intense treatment options so Tri-Luma was his recommendation. And I must say, just after a few treatments, my face looks AMAZING. I am so thankful something like this exists. I highly recommend. And the cost is nothing compared to what you could spend on facials, peels and random expensive beauty creams. Who needs $500 LaMer when $100 Tri-Luma exists? Duh."

"I've spent a lot of money on over the counter skin lightening creams to treat my moderate/severe melasma. Only tri-luma has worked to improve the appearance of this unsightly skin condition. My friends immediately noticed when I used it. Although it is expensive and requires a prescription, I can say it is an excellent product and will definitely improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation, sun spots, freckles or melasma. I highly recommend this product and only caution that it is most potent the first several applications, so only use a thin layer and apply every other day at the beginning."

"I used Tri Luma for about 4 months and it works great! The first week I used it every night and my skin became dry, so I cut back to 4 days a week and that did the trick. My skin discoloration smoothed out and the fine lines around my eyes and mouth became less noticable. I highly recommend this product."

"I have never written a review for a product before, and I fall under the category of people that had previously tried EVERY single other method out there for melasma, seeing hydroquinone products as a last last last resort. I've spent a good $300 bucks trying to rid myself of the melasma mustache that I received from a combo of birth control pills and sun exposure. After consulting with a dermatologist, the preconceived notions I had against hydroquinone got cleared up, and I started taking Tri-Luma. It's been SEVEN DAYS, and my melasma is almost gone. I could not be more thankful. My advice- get off birth control immediately, practice religious sun care, and don't be afraid of hydroquinone:)"

"Due to hormonal changes and reduced levels of melanin, I have increasingly witnessed spots on my cheeks and on my nose. I used various Vitamin C serums and other over-the-counter lightening creams. They only had minimal effect and seemed to take a lot of time to achieve anything. The Tri Luma cream requires a prescription and is not covered by insurance (I paid $107.20 for it with a discount card...think it was originally $148.99). Yes, it is pricey, but may I say, upon using it, it is absolutely worth it!! I saw diminished darkness and spotting after the first night of use and upon each night's use. I have used it for 4 nights now and it has faded the splotches significantly!! Wow!"

"I used Tri-Luma for 8 weeks early this year. It worked great but a few days after I stopped the Melasma reappear. I was told by my Dermatologist to wait for 2 months to try again. After 2 months my face looks bad and I tried applying for 8 weeks. I stopped a week ago and my Melasma is back. I applied SPF 50 twice a day and wear sun protection hat faithful. I am not going to use Tri-Luma again."

"I was told by two plastic surgeons the only thing that would remove my dark spots was laser. Several treatments at that and at a cost of $1500-$3000. I will admit may spots were very dark and covered most of my face. I was at my dermatologist for an unrelated problem and asked about Tri-Luma, which I had seen an advertisement for. He prescribed it for me and I cannot say how happy I am with the results. It is an expensive medicine (not anywhere close to laser) but it works. Also check around on prices. My husband noticed a difference within the first week and my family is amazed how light my spots are. I have been on it for about 6 months. I go off for awhile and then start back . Use sunscreen."

"I have acne scars as well as hypo and hyper pigmentation. My skin was a mess. My dermatologist recommended tri luma after trying everything under the sun (from microdermabrasion, to chemical peels, I even tried laser treatments). The cream has worked wonders! It has been just three months and my skin looks great. Everything is fading. The cream, while expensive, lasts a long time. I bet I get 4 months out of my first tube. While I paid $127, that only averages out to about $30 a month. Not bad at all! The only downside to this cream is that you do have to be VERY careful around the corners of your mouth and open sores."

"I am not a blogger at all but I feel it is my duty to write this review because I know there are countless other women who suffer from persistent melasma like myself. It has been almost two years that I have been fighting with ugly dark spots on my cheeks and upper lip due to contraceptions which I quit using after finding out what I thought to be harmless sunspots are actually a nightmarish side effect of birth control pills. After several visits to different doctors' offices and a ton of useless over-the-counter and prescription drugs (like Tretionin) my last and and most understanding dermatologist prescribed Tri-luma, even though this is not a cure, in less than ten days my spots are visibly lighter and barely noticeable. It works!"

"For about 5 months I struggled with melasma from birth control pills. I originally thought it was just from a bad sunburn but I finally decided to go to my dermatologist. She prescribed tri luma. It cost around $120 (insurance did not cover) but I have to say it was worth it. I've been using it for about 3 weeks and the brown splotches on my face are almost all gone. I saw improvement in a week. My only regret is that I did not visit the dermatologist sooner to get it!! Its a lot of money but it definitely works. Very excited to not look like a star trek character anymore ;)"

"I've had melasma since 2007. I notice a small brown patch on my right side of my cheek and didn't think nothing of it till someone else noticed that it was there and was spreading. I think I was in denial until I seen it on my forehead and then on my other cheek and also upper lip. I spent a lot of money, time, and a lot of disappoint on many products. Until 2 weeks ago when my dermatologist suggested that I try tri-luma. I was at the point to where I was so discouraged and depressed I was at my point that I just didn't even want to try. I thought to myself. I'll try one more item and only cuz I looked up the reviews on tri-luma and believe me it's not cheap. But I will admit it is out of this world amazing. And it really works."

"My dermatologist recommended Tri-Luma to me when I came in with melasma on my upper lip brought on by sunlight combined with the birth control I was taking. I was put off by the price but the other options to treat melasma were even more expensive so I ended up paying $100 out of pocket. The first time I used Tri-Luma it left my skin red, irritated, and peeling like crazy and I stopped use immediately. Once my skin healed about a week later I tried again and put barely any product at all on my lip. It was still red and irritated but less so. I applied very little of the product every other night for 2 weeks combined with a lot of moisturizer in the mornings until my skin adapted and I was no longer having any side effects. Then I began using the product every night and saw amazing results after 4 weeks of consistent nightly use. Now the dark skin is totally gone (even though I probably only used 1/5 of the product). Less is more with this product!"

"this is a product that TRULY WORKS, I'm 58 years young and I have a a few dark spots on my cheek. After 2 weeks, all 3 spots were lighter, after 3 weeks they are nearly not noticeable. I'm on my 4th week and I couldn't love this product any more. One expensive tube will last several months and is worth every penny of it."
