"I am 22 and I been on since I was 21, I havent had a period since I have been on, which is fine but my sex drive is out the window. Haven't had sex with my boyfriend in 6 weeks and we live together. I'm just not in the mood AT ALL. Also I notice I have been dry and that has never been the case. Also a lot of weight gain and no matter how much I exercise it wont come off. I also feel like my feet keeps growing. Its perfect for effectiveness but its the price you pay so to each its own. Different bodies react different ways so my story may not be yours."

"Implanon often tends to get a bad rap, but so to does every other type of contraception. I was on my first lot for 3 years never having a period, after it ran out I wait two months before getting a new one. In those two months I had regular periods. When the new one was inserted I went back to no periods. My mother had an implant for years with regular periods and loved it. I have loved it. It was the best thing for me as I have depression and the pill and some injections caused me to become lifeless and made my depression horrible. Everyone is different so different things work for different people. The upside of the implant is that if you do have issues you can take it straight back out with no side affects. I recommend it"

"I've only had Implanon for 6 months. They say anything can happen so they can't tell you much about your period. But, in my experience I've had no period so far and no cramps or PMS symptoms. I don't believe the Implanon made me gain weight. I was gradually gaining my Freshman 25 in college from September-May and I got the Implanon in January. It didn't make me gain weight abnormally. I just continued my weight gain from eating such unhealthy food at school. Since then, I've lost 17 pounds and I don't believe the Implanon has slowed down any of the weight loss. Unfortunately, reviews are not going to help you because Implanon is strictly person to person, when it comes to side effects. In my case, I love Implanon!"

"I've been on Implanon now for about 2 and half years now and I'm still getting my periods. They started off normal & now they are just irregular. I've had my period now for the past three weeks now and it's not normal period blood it's more brown and chunky than anything I've experienced before. I'm not the type to go to the Drs. but it's getting to the point where it's ruining my sex life. I never had depression or weight loss or gained any but I do get less headaches then what I did before. I would recommend the Implanon to people who are forgetful about taking pills it's just risky because the symptoms are different for everyone."

"I had Implanon placed back in 2010 for 3 years later found out it was extended to 5 years I didn't notice any - side effects right way My sex drive was normal skin normal everything was fine I noticed a major change after 4 years I started getting depressed angry for no reason 0 patience As time went on I started becoming a really mean person uninterested in everything I would eat and snack constantly I didn't want to go anywhere or see people because I just didn't care to converse or act like I cared what was happening in their life. My sex drive was low. My health started being affected too I suffered from severe migraines nausea mood swings I went to the doctor had MRI's done and nothing came from it I was "fine" I didn't even think to associate my birth control with it I started getting educated read reviews and saw that I was not alone It is now removed and I am slowly becoming the woman my family deserves I would 100% not recommend this birth control I hope this helps someone."

"What everyone needs to realize if that everyone's body is different n reacts different. You have to see what's best for you!!! You may react differently than the next person. I was on the shot for 8 months n gained 20 pounds and fell into a terrible depression. I've switched and have been on the implant for 8 months now and have dropped 10 pounds! No depression! I'm actual happy! No mood swings. I'm very satisfied so far with the results. So my advice, find what fits you and your body. You may have to try a couple till you find a fit. But don't off of how other people's bodies reacted."

"I've had this since March of 2010 and at first it was great. I had a period maybe every other month sometimes they would last for a week or a little longer sometimes they would be shorter. Now after 2 years Ive been bleeding for about a month and it is heavy. No pregnancies but I feel like I am. I've had crazy mood swings, sometimes I'm super hungry and sometimes I can't eat and I feel like I'm always tired. Thinking about taking it out"

"I have had Implanon for over a year and the side effects have been going on for that long. My hair is falling out I have the worst anxiety and mood swings and have gained over 30lbs since on it, no amount of exercise and diet can help. I have an appointment in 3 weeks to have it removed because of the side effects."

"The good: Implanon was 100% effective, and very convenient. The bad: It killed my desire for sex completely. I gained 30 pounds within two months. I have a history of migraines, usually getting them every couple of months, but during the last six months of having Implanon, I was getting them twice a week, with bizarre symptoms. My migraines would make me feel like my face and entire left side of my body was numb. I would forget words, I would have trouble forming sentences. Sometimes it felt like I was totally disconnected from my body, and that my head was caving in. My doctor sent me to get an MRI, but nothing was wrong, and they diagnosed "complex" migraine. Had Implanon removed 2 months later, and the weird migraines stopped."

"I love the Implanon! I have been on it for almost 2 yrs. I get it out in Dec 2015. So far I like it because I always forget to take the pill or get my shot for Depo. I decided to try it and I love it. I did gain weight about 60 lbs but its not the birth control. It was stress with home, work and family. I wont get my period for months, then one day I get it. I would have for like 2 weeks. I had it with everything like cramps, mood swings and a heavy flow."

"I had the Implanon Inserted in October 2014. The first couple of weeks I felt quite queezy and depressed. After a few weeks I was fine. I have not gained any weight or had any nasty side effects. I have a light and short period once a month. However, sex drive has gone out the window."

"I have been on the Implanon a little over a year now. I have not had any periods besides a little spotting the first couple months. (Yay for not having to pay for tampons & chocolate!) I love the fact of not having a period and not getting pregnant right now, but there are a few downsides to it. My downsides: I never had acne previously and I now have it really bad, i gained about 45 lbs, and I have horrible mood swings. It has its good and its bad to it, just be cautious of the side effects."

"I'm going on 8 months now. The birth control is great, the only issue I had was my period. I feel like I've had my period all those months and they last about 2 weeks. I'll get a little break (1 week) and I'll get it again. I did get really bad cramps one month but other than that I haven't had any side effects. I feel like a lot of woman blame birth control for gain weight. But it's all about will power you can't let one thing control your life. People just need to get off their butts and workout. That's how you won't gain weight."

"I gave it a 2 is because I never got pregnant on it. After much research I decided Implanon was my best bet, since I wouldn't have insurance anymore. The first couple of months were good, until I got a period that never ended. After 2 months of bleeding I got on birth control pills to regulate my period. I was good for 2 months, then started the bleeding again. I basically had my period for 3-4 weeks, then spotted for 2, and *if* I was lucky, had 2 weeks period free. I gained about 20 pounds in the first 3 months, which I could not lose no matter what I did. Mood swings were awful, at one point I was depressed. My skin got bumpy. Finally got insurance to take it out. "

"I am getting this removed as soon as possible. I have only had it in for a few weeks now but I just can not handle what it is doing to me. I am having massive anxiety, depression. Its literally driving me nuts. As I read other women's reviews I see other side effects such as weight gain and non stop bleeding and I know that's something I do not want to experience either. "

"Hi everyone! My name is Emily and I have had the implant for 4 months now. I have my period every month right on time but it is much lighter and there is no cramping. My doctor let me know that the implant is even safer then getting your tubes and you should not gain any weight from using this birth control. She told me the only thing people complain about is your period because it can come whenever or not at all. I haven't experienced any weight gain or mood swings like I did on the pill. My sex drive is healthy as well. I recommend this birth control !"

"I got my Implanon in May 2011 after my son was born, I didn't have a period for a month after that like normal, then the spontaneous bleeding began ( like I expected, the doctor told me it would happen) but then 2 months passed then 3 then 6! With almost constant bleeding, I called my doctor and she said to give it 6 more months and at the year mark my periods would stop all together, that day came and went but the problem continued. Along with that I have had a non existent sex drive, severe weight gain, acne, depression, anxiety, hormonal and hair loss, getting it out in 2hrs! "

"I love this thing! I've NEVER had a problem with it! Had it for three years and about to put another one in. Birth control is tricky and it's not for everyone! I have a high metabolism and have never gained any weight with it! Stopped having periods after about eight months also! Greatest thing ever! "

"I had been on the pill for 7 years and had a good experience with them, but every time I'd forget to take a pill, I'd bleed. My husband and I decided to wait on kids so I got the Implanon inserted. I love the convenience of not having to worry about taking a pill or having to worry about being pregnant if i forget the pill. The only major downfall is the lack of sex drive. I've been on the Implanon for almost 2 months and it's affecting my sex life. My husband and I went from doing it 3 times a week to 1. I'm seriously considering taking it out early."

"Implanon is awesome, I've had mine in for around over 2 years now and have never had a problem with it. The first two months were tricky, my period lasted for about 3 weeks then just spotted and then stopped completely. I haven't gotten it since. I also don't get period pain or the mood swings. It's awesome."

"Okay so I got the implant for two reasons: I was terrible at remembering to take birth control and my menstrual cycle every month used to be AWFUL (heavy bleeding, terrible cramps, committing, and heacaches). I absolutely love implanon. My monthly symptoms stopped and I only bled three times this past year for only a few days. I can't speak highly enough of this! It stopped by mood swings caused by hormones and this past year has been amazing. I was so worried about getting it because there are some bad reviews of this. I was worried about weight gain, mood swings, and breakouts because I used to have severe acne. I did not experience ANY of those symptoms."

"I had the Implanon inserted in June 2011 and had it taken out recently in June 2014 when my three year mark was up. I'm giving it a six because it did prevent pregnancy in my case. Pros from my experience: No periods & no pregnancies. Cons from my experiences: 80lbs weight gained(I also had some family issues, work & school. Not blaming it all on the birth control). NO sex drive at all I was never in the mood, and my feet seemed to get bigger. Other than that its a great birth control. It works effectively on other people. Some have no weight gain and some do. I do recommended this because it does work great for preventing pregnancy!"

"I just had my 2nd Implanon put in yesterday. Solid 3 years of no babies, light mostly regular periods. Insertion was not too painful. I had it removed and a new on put in yesterday so I have slight bruising and tenderness today. My doctor was wonderful, helpful && gentle with the procedure. I recommend it to anybody who is wanting to wait on having kids. "
