My first implant was fine; side effects same as many other women. Had it replaced, no worries. My second implant has now been in my arm for 5yrs. 3 attempts to get it out, with no luck. It was inserted incorrectly.

I have been on Implanon since July 2009, and so far it has been the best form of birth control that I have came across. I have not had a cycle since July, there have been no mood swings, weight gain, depression, hair loss, etc. If anything I feel a lot more comfortable and happy now that I don't have to worry about that time of the month. The only thing I don't love is the small scar on my arm from the insertion. Other than that I would recommend it to other people who like me get migraines from the extra estrogen and are bad at taking pills every day.

I have had Implanon for a year now. I liked it at first because I was living with my boyfriend at the time and it avoided pregnancy but after having it for a few months I gained 20 pounds! I was 110 now I'm 130lbs. I want to get it removed asap and hopefully go back to my regular weight. I also experienced crazy mood swings. It's great to take if you want to avoid pregnancy and to avoid the pill and other annoying birth control but I would suggest sticking to condoms.

I have been on Implanon for almost two years. For the first year I wasn't with anyone and the implant worked great. But back in July I started bleeding hard and I had never had this before. I have had a weight gain of 20lbs and can't seem to work it off. I have been moody and very sleepy some times for no reason. There are some days that I sleep all day and all night. My OBGYN says that it has nothing to do with the implant but I haven't slept like that since I have had it removed.

I've had the Implanon since August 2009. Most birth control pills make me sick and the shot made me have my period for six months straight! Since the Implanon I've had it on and off for two weeks at a time. I've had it for the past three weeks and it's driving me crazy. I haven't experience any other side-effects. I don't think the Implanon is really to blame for such things. I'm going to try to stick it out for a few more months to see if it gets better.

I had the Implanon inserted in my arm 01/09. For 6 weeks I had no period, which was great, then in March I started to bleed, and bled until the end of June. I stopped bleeding for 3 weeks. After the 3 week break it started right back up. Since March I have also been very depressed, anxious, and just felt PMS all the time; my OBGYN put me on antidepressants for a few months, she said that it should not be related to the Implanon, but I cannot help but feel that it is since it coordinates with my bleeding. I have not had any weight gain, but I do not feel like I have been myself for 8 months now. After reading these other reviews I don't feel so crazy, and confused, and will probably have it removed soon.

I've had Implanon for about 9 months and at first I thought it was the greatest thing in the world but about 4 months I started bleeding twice a month for about 3-4 days, extreme fatigue, terrible headaches, moody, weight gain about 15 lbs(same eating habits as before). Used to be 120lb now I'm 135lb. I think its time for something new!

Well my experience with Implanon I thought was going to be wonderful. The only thing wonderful is that I cant get pregnant. Besides that I bleed for almost two weeks with blood lots and all but now I bleed regular with occasional spotting but my mood swings are ridiculous. I've gained some extra pounds and my eating habit has been the same. Everyones body is different. For some people this is right -but not for me.

I got mine put in in January of 08. I got pretty heavy periods for about 6 months after. I haven't used a tampon since, mini pads work just fine. I get it roughly every%uFEFF 8 weeks. Sometimes if it goes too long, I have taken a pregnancy test to make sure, all negative. I really don't like people making negative comments when they had it in less than a week. It's not instantaneous, you have to give your body time to adjust. The Implanon itself doesn't hurt, it hasn't pained me since the first few days. I have had NONE of these symptoms, any weight gain was from unhealthy eating habits. I do not bleed constantly, not stressed, crazy or depressed.

I had Implanon inserted in March of 2008 after my friend had it inserted and said it was fine. The only problem I have had was irregular periods there were very irregular. Sometimes they were short and I called it spotting, but then I would spot for about 1-2 weeks. But then it would go away for a month and come back. I think alot of it was stress. Since July of this year I sort of started new with my life. I have had two periods since July (it is November), and they were both short and more of a heavy spotting. But its been alot better. Overall I am happy with it, and in 2011 I will get a new one inserted, unless they come out with something better!

I had Implanon put in a little over a year ago and I'd say I've had all the symptoms, but I have to say the worst one is that I've become crazy. I've been so stressed, depressed, and IRRITATED. It's so bad that my boyfriend almost left me because of it (well no more reason to have it) I'm going to get it removed ASAP.

I've had Implanon for almost a year now. I supposedly had endometriosis, and PCOS. It was a little sore after the implant, but I don't bleed, (I never did) I just spot for about a day a month, if that. LOVE IT!! The only side effect is the implant gets sore around the time of the month, so I know when the spotting is coming. This is a MIRACLE treatment, and I don't have to worry about anything. My sex life is the same, I don't have any dryness or anything, and I have NO ring to worry about. ;) I love it! I'm so glad I have it, and I'll be getting another in two years!

Its been almost a year since I got it and I haven't gone a full week WITHOUT bleeding. I have gained 15lbs in 7 months, very depressed, moody, bad cramps, headaches, muscle aches, weakness, digestive problems. The list goes on. I thought it was all in my head, so I'm glad I found these reviews because I am now going to get it removed!

In my experience the only good thing about Implanon is that that you don't have to remember to take a pill every day. I had it for 6 months, and only a few days of that I wasn't bleeding or at least spotting. I also had zero sex drive, and a lot of vaginal dryness. I had it removed last week and have since started on the Nuvaring. Hopefully that will work better for me.

I've had the Implanon rod inserted the day after I gave birth to my son. This was August 21st of this year. When I first got it I was bleeding for about two weeks but thought nothing of it cause I just gave birth but it came back on about a week later and has been on every since. Also I've been feeling really depressed for the past month and my finance' says its like I'm a whole new person. I'm considering getting it removed.

I went on Implanon after being on birth control pills for 4 1/2 years. The first two months were horrible for me - I had a really heavy period for 1 1/2 weeks (normally, my periods are light and 3-4 days). I was moody and I gained about 4 pounds even though I did not change my eating habits. I got a second period about two months after I had it put it, which was a little heavier than normal but only lasted 5 days. Since then, all side effects have disappeared, I lost the 4 pounds I gained (without changing my eating havits) and I'm completely satisfied with my Implanon implant. I have not had my period since the one I had two months after insertion, which is a bonus. I have had the implant in for about six months.

I had Implanon inserted on the 28/08 this year. At first I had all the normal side effects - spotting for a few days and such. But then I got my period for two weeks. Annoying, but I'd live. Then came the thrush. Every time I get rid the infection, I spot and the pH change brings it back! Other then that, I haven't had any problems with it (even lost weight).

I got my Implanon inserted on June 30th of this year, on the last day of my period. I may have spotted for 2 days after about 15 days of having it. However, it is now October 20th and I have not gotten my period yet, no bleeding or nothing, and I am not pregnant. I may have gained about 5 pounds, but I won't blame the Implanon, I have been bad with my eating habits. I have not gotten acne, or cramps, or moods or anything, although I may have a little headache once in a while, but nothing else.

At first I thought it was awful. I had a period for a month straight mood swings and a little weight gain but now that my body has got used to it, it is great. I have no periods at all. If you can tough it out for those first few months it's great.

I had it implanted about 2 weeks ago on the day I should have started my period. My period did not start instead I had all the PMS symptoms and a little bit of spotting. However a week after I got it my period came, bleeding, cramps. The worst period I have ever had by far. My periods usually last 3-5 days and I am now on day 8 of heavy bleeding and cramping. I also feel very emotional and moody. The site was badly bruised and hurt for 3-4 days when it was put in. It looks a lot better now. I am seriously thinking about having it taken out already because I can't handle the bleeding. What's the point in taking birth control if you can't make use of it because you can't stop bleeding?

I got Implanon in June of this year. Since then I've experienced weight gain, depression, acne outbreaks and periods that last up to 5 weeks. It's effective but the side effects are harsh.

I had the Implanon put in about 6 weeks after my son was born. I was going to try the Mirena, but my cervix was too small and the nurse couldn't insert it. So, she can back with an alternative-the Implanon. To be honest, I wasn't really into the idea of having something in my arm, but I knew I probably would miss pills again...so I had it inserted. That was April 2008. 18 months later, I'm liking it a better than I a year ago. Those first 8 months awful. I picked up a few pounds which I didn't mind because I've always been super skinny, but the unpredictable cycles were awful. My periods had always been light and short, but with the Implanon, they became MUCH heavier and longer! It's convenient, but it has its ups and downs!

I got it in October 2008. Since then, I have had mood swings, weight gain, months of stomach problems, acne, fatigue, unpredictable periods, etc. Every bad side effect you can have basically. The convenience of not having to remember a pill is not worth all the inconveniences this has caused.

I'm 17 years old and my mom works at an OB/GYN office and had me get Implanon. The only negative part was it bruised for about a week and my stomach was a little upset the next day. I have gained no weight or have had my mood effected or any other bad side effects. My sex drive is just as high as it has been. I love it because I have not gained weight, I have light spotting to no periods and it's stuck in my arm so I don't have to remember my birth control daily.

Got Implanon in April 09. It is now October and I have had only one week without spotting/bleeding since it was put in. Was not bad getting it put in, but six months of this? It's driving me crazy to always be wearing a tampon. I wouldn't know how my sex drive is cause it has prevented most of that from happening.

I just had my Implanon removed today after having it for a little over a year and a half. The ONLY good thing about the Implanon was the convenience of it; I never had to worry about taking a pill or constantly refilling a prescription. HOWEVER, the Implanon made me more moody, emotional, depressed, and anxiety ridden. I spotted for 6 months straight after I had it put in and then would randomly get my period. I gained 25lbs. The only good thing about Implanon was piece of mind. But the side effects were not worth it.

I got the Implanon implant in May after giving birth to my third son in April. My doctor did not want to fix me because I am only 22, they said I would change my mind later. So I let them talk me into getting the Implanon. When it was put in it did not hurt or bother me after. Then I started getting headaches, light headed or dizzy, panic attacks and slight depression. I did not have a period until after 5 months of having the Implanon. Two weeks before the headaches got worse as did the panic attacks. Now I have to take antidepressants and anxiety medications. Along with having to have my heart checked to make sure I do not have a heart problem. Before Implanon I WAS very healthy mentally and physically. It works for some but not for me!

I had the Implanon inserted on July 24, 2009 and had a little bruising, but nothing too serious. Two weeks later I had a very painful period, where I couldn't get out of bed, literally! My period usually lasts 3-5 days, and on Implanon it lasted almost 2 weeks. No it wasn't spotting, it was still bright red blood. But 6 weeks later, I am still spotting! I have changed my eating habits and work out 6 days a week, and have not been able to drop a pound! I have no sex drive either and have had more acne in the past 2 months than I have ever had in my life.

I have had the Implanon since May of 2009, and my experiences are similar to the bad ones. From the time I got it, I had light periods for almost 6 weeks. Then the bleeding stopped for about 2 months. Now it is September and I started again and it will leave and come back. I have also noticed that when lifting heavy objects I will have unexpected bleeding. I haven't taken it out because I am in school and this problem is a lot better than having an unexpected pregnancy. However, those who don't have the patience for this type of thing beware. I do have mood swings, my skin was beautiful before, now I break out. No headaches and weight gain yet. However, this process is scary because your periods are unpredictable.

I had the Implanon inserted 07/23/09 so its been around 3 months. I have nothing good to say about it. I have terrible acne break outs, I have had constant bleeding the whole time. I'm cramping nearly everyday, I have had nausea, hair loss, mood swings, weight gain, zero sex drive. I am getting out the 30th of September and going back to Yaz.

I had my Implanon inserted almost 5 months ago, in May 2009.
The pros that I personally experienced with this method of Birth contro are as follows:
-No periods. Very minimal spotting.
-No pregnancy.
-No real serious weight gain. Maybe 5 lbs over the 5 month period.
While these pros are all really nice things, I found the cons I experienced outweighed the pros.
The cons I experienced are as follows:
-Terrible breakouts. I've had very good skin my entire life, up until I had this inserted.
-Ridiculous mood swings and just outrageous emotional-ness. I have no past history of mental illness whatsoever, and since having the Implanon inserted, my mood swings have been insane, and I've experienced unexplainable bouts of depression.

I had the Implanon fitted in May this year. From having it fitted I think I bled for nearly 9 weeks. I have put on a stone in weight and have suffered really bad mood swings feeling sometimes like I'm going mad. I felt tired all the time with no energy. I was really snappy with my children and my other half all the time.
I am normally a really laid back sort of person but this changed me into a nutter.

I'm 25 yrs old, I got my Implanon inserted 02/08/2008, it been 19 months. When I first got it, there was a lot of bleeding, I didn't like it. My periods were like clock work before insertion, But when I got the Implanon it was out of whack. But I guess my body had to get used to this new foreign body inside of me. It's different for everyone. I'm not having the problem with weight gain, or hair loss, but I do get headaches and my breast are sore sometimes. I like it because I'm not worried about contraception. But like I say it different for everyone, my periods are normal now. I'm dealing with the side effects, better than another kid.

I had implanon fitted on the 1st July this year after having my first baby in February, and it has been nothing but bother for me! I can feel it at all times, even when I'm not moving my arm. It is so uncomfortable and I have bled heavily every day since having it in! So up to now there has been no point in having it, as we cant have sex if I'm bleeding. I have also had headaches, which I NEVER suffer from usually but, unlike many others, I have not gained weight. I have actually lost weight since having it in, making me clinically underweight, which is another reason for the removal. I am getting it removed tomorrow afternoon.

The only reason I give this a one is because it is effective. However I have constant headaches, acne, mood swings, weight gain (over 40 lbs!). And the most important thing is absolutely no sex drive!

I got Implanon in January 2009. It has its up's and downs since I got it. I started having light periods for 6 weeks then I didn't get a period anymore. The Implanon has moved from its original place so have to get it checked.

I had Implanon inserted in March, 2008 about 6 weeks after my son's birth.
- periods are very infrequent (I skip 3-6 months at a time)
- periods last 4-6 WEEKS (as opposed to my normal 4-6 days)
- weight gain (I weigh as much today as the day I walked into the hospital to deliver my son!)
- mood swings (I'm nearly as emotional as during pregnancy)
- dizziness (I get light headed/dizzy quite often).
I loved the convenience, but the side effects have become too much for me. I'm getting it removed this week.

I decided in 06/08 after I had my 3rd child to do something more long term, so I chose Implanon. At the time of insertion I weighed 167, and now after 15 months. I have been stuck at 194. I also have have been bleeding for 15 months with an occasional 3-7 day break. I am constantly using tampons, and panty liners. My sex drive is awful, I don't even think about it. The sex drive and the bleeding is putting a damper on my marriage, and has made my husband kranky. The last 3 weeks I haven't bled. I'm hoping I have either stopped for good, or its making me a little curious if I am pregnant. I go to the Doctor on the 15th and I am going to see what other options I have.

Since I got this birth control implanted I've gained 20 lbs and have experienced irregular bleeding. I have also gone through several pregnancy tests because the Implanon gives me the same symptoms as pregnancy. I'm nauseous, I get headaches, I'm tired, I have cramping, and I have mood swings. However, it is nice that I don't have to worry about a pill, patch, or a shot every three months. It has never really been painful. I would compare the pain of initial implant similar to the Depo shot.

I got the implant in March 2009... a little over a year. My only problem is the weight gain. I have gained 48lbs. I also got acne and have had my period twice since I got it.

I love Implanon so far. It has been a year since having Implanon inserted. I do have occasional back and chest break outs but just a pimple here or there. Nothing more than 2 or 3 at a time. Instead of weight gain I have had weight loss without trying at all. Normally during the winter I put on anywhere from 5-10lbs. Over the last year my weight has decreased by 10 lbs. Initially my mood swings were ridiculous. Now I may just be used to the mood swings, not sure! I haven't had my period since before insertion. It's worth a shot!

I honestly LOVE Implanon! I am a worry wort and not worrying with the monthly pregnancy scare has been fabulous. I have mood swings (but I've always been hormonal). I almost chickened out after reading online reviews but I'm glad I didn't. No weight gain. No acne. Slight bleeding. Highly recommended by me.

I have been on Implanon since February 2008. I must say, I love not having to remember to take the pill, but the downfall of this implant is my weight gain. The doctor who did the procedure warned me about possible weight gain.

I got my Implanon on January of 09 and I love it. I had no problems with the bleeding except at first, for 2 weeks I would have irregular bleeding. 7 months later I have had 2 periods that lasted a whole 3 days, very light. This is the first birth control that I have been on and it is great. There are a lot of people that have had bad experiences with it and I am sorry. But I give it a 10.

I had Implanon inserted in January of 08. I have had such a terrible experience with it. For the last year and half I have had my period for a total of roughly 8 months (that's a combined total not a constant total). I chose Implanon because I was terrible at remembering to take my pills on time. I do have to add though, I am very jealous of those women who are having a wonderful experience with it!

I had Implanon since July 07 and I 100% love it. I got it after having an abortion and not wanting to have to make that type of decision again. After I 1st got it, I was period less for 3 months, and since then, my period comes every 4-6 weeks for about 5-7 days, but no weight gain, mood swings, or acne, until 1 or 2 days prior to my period starting, so I just chalk it up to PMS. Other then that, I love not having to thing about pregnancy or remembering to take some pills or get a shot. I highly recommend it.

I had the Implanon inserted in May 09, six weeks after having my baby. The only great thing is I don't have to take the pills but apart from that my hormones are up and down all the time. My first period after having it in was okay but the next one has lasted six weeks and counting. I don't know what to do? As for my weight I have just stayed the same but I'm trying to lose weight. My daughter is four and a half months old so I think I will give it one more month for my bleeding and hormones to settle down and if not I will be getting it out.

I had Implanon inserted in December 08. I have only great things to say about it! About a month after it was inserted I had slight break through bleeding for about seven days. Other than that I haven't had any bleeding and have felt fine. No mood swings (that I am aware of). I feel great and it works GREAT!

I chose this method after my body rejected 3 IUD's. I had never had a baby, but I wanted a long term and effective method of birth control. I found this to be the best fit for me. I had great success with Depo in the past. I was on it for nearly ten years with only minimal spotting. When I did spot I took estrogen supplements and stopped spotting in a couple days.
It didn't hurt at all when I got it. It hasn't given me any problems the whole time I had it. My only concern is what will happen when I get it taken out.

I'm 22 and I had Implanon inserted August 2007. It's been almost 2 years and I'm going to have it removed next week . I LOVED not having to think about taking pills but the irregular bleeding has been a huge pain. I was so bad with birth control pills that this was a great option for me though. I bled for 2 months straight during first year. This year it has slowed down. I won't put this back in due to the bleeding and I would like to stop taking hormonal birth control all together. I am wondering if I gained weight from it or if it was just me gaining weight. Not sure about the mood swings either maybe I was just emotional. If you just got it, give it time. The cons are worth it.

I give this a two due to the simplicity of it. However, I am a completely different person. I have mood swings; I have daily or weekly mood swings, I'll be ticked off for a whole day, then crying about nothing. I have had mood swings before and get over them. I don't get over these ones. My boyfriend has told me I am not the same person. As everybody's doctor has told them that everyone is different. I don't have my period, which is okay but can't handle the mood swings, I notice it during everyday life. I am actually getting it taken out.

I had the Implanon put in so that I would not have to remember to take the pill. My hormones went sky high and I have been bleeding ever since I got it put in 2 months ago. I do not recommend this to mothers who have just had a baby. Your hormones are already trying to get back to normal and the Implanon will only make it worse. I had it removed last week, I'm still bleeding and my hormones are still high. I would rather take the pill.

I gave the Implanon an 8 only because of the initial breakthrough bleeding. I mean it does exactly what it is intended to do, prevent pregnancy. For the first three months I bled nonstop but about three weeks ago it suddenly stopped. I had the Implanon implant inserted four weeks after having my baby and I have had no problems with weight or mood swings. As a matter of fact when I found out I was pregnant I weighed about 122lbs and now I'm down to 116lbs and my daughter is 4 months old. I love not having to think about the pill or worry about having another baby sooner than I want. I'd advise anyone who gets the Implanon implant to wait at least 6 months before removing it. Give your body time to adjust to the hormones.

I got the Implanon in May 2008. I was told I would have irregular bleeding for the first 6 months then it would stop. It's been 14 months and I have had my period ever since I got it put in. I've been very patient since my doctor kept saying just wait another month and maybe it'll die down. My mood swings are off the charts, I find myself always being angry and depressed. It's so annoying to always have a tampon on and I can't even mention how that affects my relationship with my husband. Also have horrible acne. The only positive things I can say from the Implanon is that you don't have to remember to take the pill, and I didn't gain any weight from it. I made an appointment to get it removed tomorrow, I can't take it anymore.

I got my Implanon in May. I was on my period when I got it so I hoped that it would stop soon. It went on it's normal cycle and then totally stopped. About 5 weeks later I started spotting and it continued for about 3 weeks with little breaks in between. It stopped for about 5 more weeks and now we're on with the spotting again. I've had massive mood swings and it's getting a little uncontrollable. My friends love it and as far as I can tell, it will all level out soon. I recommend it if you don't like remembering to take pills or such. I'm happy that it's pain free and sometimes you'll forget you have it. Just remember that it's going to be different for everyone.

I've been on Implanon since May of 2007 and I absolutely love it. I was on the pill about 5 years back and I could never remember to take it every day at the same time. I then went to the patch and while that worked good and was easier to manage, after hearing all of the side affects, I wanted to switch immediately. I went to my doctor and told her there were a few things I was looking for: 1. something that had no real routine to worry about, 2. something that when it was removed, I wouldn't have to wait an extended period of time to conceive. 3. minimal side effects. She recommended Implanon. My only complaint is that the cramps are a little more intense then before I got it. Other then that, I love it!

I got my Implanon in March 2009. The procedure was simple, but painful for a couple weeks. I am excited about the possibilities since I am an older mother who is not sure I am finished with babies. However, I have "spotted" for 68 of the 90 days! My actual period has decreased to very minimal but the constant use of a liner is just driving me crazy. In addition I also have seen some weight gain and skin breakouts. I am trying to add a estrogen patch for a month to see if we can break the cycle.

I've had the Implanon in since October 07 - brilliant. For the first 6 months I had bleeding/spotting. For the second 6 months, I got my period for 2-3 days every 2-3 weeks. However since January 09, no period at all (whoppee!). I actually lost 4-5 pounds after getting it in due to the constant bleeding. My libido has fluctuated a bit every now and then (very very high just after I got it put in, and somewhat lower at the moment). I have several friends who also got it inserted: 3 had similar experiences to me, another had it removed due to anxiety/ depression (but bear in mind she was only 16 at the time which I think would be a bit young to get it!), and another had it removed due to bad acne. Everybody's different, it's worked for me though.

I had Implanon inserted in November 2008 after being on the Depo shot for 9 years. For the first 5 months I had no signs of bleeding or any other side effects. One day I started spotting and haven't stopped since. Some days it is super light, some days it is like a regular period. Thinking of having it removed because I don't know if I can keep this up for the 6-8 months others have mentioned.
Otherwise, it has been great.

I have had my Implanon since the end of November 08 and so far it is great. I love it. Not having to remember anything is amazing (I am the most absent minded person ever). When it was inserted I was on my period, it stopped two days later (should have lasted another 5 or 6). I now have my period once every 6 or 7 weeks and it's for about 8 days, which is longer than normal for me. Cramps and pains have not increased or decreased at all. I've been reading other peoples comments on here and if you are planning on getting Implanon just keep in mind that everyone is going to react differently to medications, especially birth control. I have not had any more weight gain than with other birth controls. Insertion was fine, just a small scar at site.

I've had the Implanon for about 6 months now. The insertion hurt a little bit but it was definitely worth it - the next 3 years of worry free birth control. I absolutely LOVE not getting a period anymore and I truly trust this method enough to not need the reassurance of a period. The ONLY things I do not like about Implanon are the mood swings and weight fluctuation (about 5 lbs more or less). People close to me have really noticed a change in my irritability. I wouldn't consider myself a extremely bad by any means, it is tolerable, I just demand a lot more alone time than I used to. I would recommend this birth control to anyone.

I've had the Implanon for about 4 months now and I'm getting it removed in a few weeks. I've had no period since I've been on the Implanon which is a MAJOR plus for me. But I have been an emotional person ever since it has been inserted. I'm seriously surprised my fiance is still with me. I can't even stand to be around myself sometimes I get so bad. Also at random times it will start to itch at the insertion point and if I lay on my arm in an awkward position it will pinch the rod. This is a really good form of birth control if it is inserted correctly, but it also has major side effects for some women.

I've had the Implanon for a little over a year now. I love it! I have tried every birth control under the sun. The pill, the patch, the ring, and I had managed to find a way to forget, mess up, or skip each one of them. The Implanon has given me so much more freedom. The only side effects I've had were a few months where I would bleed a little each day, but after about 6 months I haven't had another period. I haven't gained any weight and any moodiness was probably something I would have experienced without all the hormones. I recommend it.

I just had Implanon removed after nearly 2 years. I loved the fact that there were no more monthly pregnancy scares but hated everything else. I went from 9 stone to 11 stone without changing my eating habits and was so cranky and moody and down in the dumps. I'm surprised my husband stayed with me. But feeling so much better now even though it's only been out for 2 days. It just didn't suit me.

I got my Implanon inserted in November 07 and it was great at first, very easy to insert and in fact had no period for the next 7 months. The first year was pretty good, a little weight gain and mood swings but not bad. That is until last November of 2008. I started having severe stomach pains along with back and leg pain, had these episodes last 3-4 days and are so severe I felt I was in labor all over. I have had migraines, leg and arm pains, severe mood swings, depression, my periods are so out of control, I wear a pad every day just in case. I have had to go the Emergency room 3 times in the past 4 months. I had insurance when I had it put in and now I don't so I am in the process of acquiring it to get this thing removed.

December 1 2008, I had the Implanon inserted and have had problems since. I have mood swings like crazy. I am now taking depression and anxiety pill because they think it was postpartum depression. It's not though. I have been snapping at my 7 month old son and husband. I was admitted to green leaf since they thought I was a danger to my family. Turned out that the Implanon is causing this. I cry all the time for no reasons and I am now taking depression and anxiety pills. I bleed all the time. The Implanon has been hurting since I had it done, I have gained 25lbs because of this as well. I am taking it out this week for the sake of me and my family.

I got my first Implanon in March 2006 and just had my second done in March 2009. This birth control is my freedom. I've read that some women have had bad side effects but reading those seem so foreign to me. I did have random light spotting every three or four months (sometimes even longer) that would last from 3 days to 7 days. I never buy tampons anymore. I feel carefree and never notice the implant. I'm a typically moody person that is quickly set off so I don't put the blame on the Implanon. I have noticed that after having the second one put in, my sex drive has gone down. I find this quite frustrating because I really do enjoy being intimate with my partner.

I got this in November of 2008. My doctor said that everyone is different, some people bleed and some don't. I bled for about 4 months off and on. It is now April 2009 and I couldn't even tell you the last time I bled or had a period. I love it. I don't have to think about taking a pill every day. This works for me.

I had implanon implanted in Dec '08, and have not stopped bleeding since (that's 4 months). I have also had many other side effects: hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings and irritability, no sex drive, and slight weight gain. I'm sure the hormone delivery in this drug affects everyone differently, but for me, the adverse effects outweighed the benefits of not taking a daily or weekly drug.

Got mine inserted on December 31,08. Have had problem since. I have a headache every other day. I will spot for four days then period for 20 days. This has been going on since I got it. Only good thing about it is I don't have to worry about taking the pill. I cry for no reason and mood swing are crazy. I barely have a sex drive. I cannot take the bleeding, headache and mood swings.

I had Implanon inserted in January 08. I get my half-period roughly every 9 weeks. Of course there's spotting. Half period is when you don't use a tampon, just a mini pad. I haven't used a tampon in at least 11 months. There's no need too.

Be prepared for prolonged bleeding. I had the Implanon inserted at the end of January 2009 on day 2 of my period. I had my normal period until day 6 and stopped bleeding for 7 days when I started spotting for 9 days. I then stopped bleeding for 7 more days and then started spotting again for 5 days. I stopped bleeding for 9 days and have had a period now for 9 days (more than just spotting). I was prepared for irregular bleeding but not prolonged bleeding. I'm hoping it will slow down. I used to have the Paragard IUD and for the 1st year my periods were bad but then they were very light for just a few days.

I had this inserted in 2007, the anesthetic needle pinched a bit (used to numb the area) and after that I didn't feel a thing. I had bruising in my arm where it was inserted for a week after and it was a little itchy but I didn't feel any pain. I took care not to use my arm too much.
I didn't get my period until 13 months after and then it was very irregular and there were times when a couple of months passed and I didn't have a period at all. My periods lasted for the same amount of time as previous to the Implanon, 5-7 days. The period pain was as before. The side effects I noticed were weight gain - about 10 kilos off and on - and my mood. I got cranky easily and people close to me noticed I was a bit more moodier than before.

I've had Implanon for about two weeks, and I don't feel any different than I did before. A few of my friends who got Implanon said that they didn't stop bleeding for six to eight months, so I was a little worried. But I had it implanted in the middle of my period, and the second day after I had it inserted, my period was over. The only thing I can say is don't do anything strenuous with the arm you get it in. I play on a high school softball team, and it's been hurting me because I've refused to not play. So, all in all, the irritation I'm getting every now and then from my Implanon is entirely my fault. But it's great to know that I don't need to remember to take a pill or anything. Worry-free birth control. That's the way to go.

I have had the Implanon implant for about a month now and not long after I got it, I have read reviews that really scared me because a lot of the people had bad side effects such as non-stop bleeding and mood swings, etc. About 2 weeks after I got the implant I had a period for about 4 days and then I was spotting for a week after that and then it stopped and so far I haven't had anything. I love the fact that I don't have to take a pill everyday and when I was on the pill, I forgot to take it a lot. Luckily I didn't get pregnant. I love this thing and recommend it to anyone who asks. Hopefully everything stays the way it is, but so far so good. The insertion was painless, so if you want a good birth control Implanon is the way to go.

I got it about a month ago and it was quick and painless. The doctor said I have tough skin. It made a small bruise and a little sore. Be careful - use that arm very little like the 1st day or so. If you pull a muscle around that area or move it the wrong way it hurts. I have no periods - I spotted the day I got it and at 1st I was moody but it's great now. I recommend it to everybody.

I just received this birth control a while ago. I didn't even get my period which was due in a couple days after. The only bad thing is that my back cramps and headaches have gotten worse but it may just be my PMS. I am not experiencing any of the other side effects yet. The insertion was only a little painful, but even the weakest of heart could handle it. I would recommended this for anyone who does not want anybody to find out that they are on birth control, and it is a sure thing that you will never miss a pill, or a shot.

I have this and I love it. No periods, nothing. It is great. I don't have to worry about a thing for three years. When it was first inserted I did feel a little sick, but it passed after a day.
I would recommend this form of birth control to anyone that asks. I love it.

I really like this implanon, no more worries. I even forget I have it sometimes. I really recommend it to everyone. I used the patch and the pill before, but so far, Implanon is the best. The only thing is, which is not bad, I'm getting lighter periods. Oh and I'm losing a lot of hair but I'm not sure if this is a side effect from the implanon.

I got my implant in September 2007, a month after I had my daughter. It was practically a painless insertion, the only thing that kind of hurt was the numbing of the area. It stings a bit when they inject the medication in your arm. I love this thing, its the best ever. I've had no periods until now. I would recommend this to anyone who is absent minded and forgets their pill.

I just got my Implanon implanted on Friday, after being on the Depo shot for 3 years. Very simple. The anxiety is the worst part. It took about 15 minutes to actually prep/insert. I consider myself moderatly tolerant to pain and needles - the numbing part hurt a bit but I couldn't feel him doing the implant at all and the doctor made the comment "you have tough skin". I have just a small bruise and a tiny hole - no stiches, just a bandaid and cover the same as when you donate blood.
