I am 26 years old and very sexually active with my partner. My doctor started my on this pill because of breakthrough bleeding I was having in between periods. I only tried this pill for 2.5 months and did not like it. I had breakthrough bleeding more often than before, extreme fatigue at the start of the 3rd month. I experienced extreme fatigue/dizziness and normal period like symptoms; heavy bleeding, painful cramping and bloating when I wasn't supposed to be having a period. Also, sometime during the 2nd pack of pills I had a horrible acne outbreak that I couldn't figure out. It was very frustrating that I was having so many in-between periods when that was the reason I started taking the pill.
The first day of using the pill I got very dizzy, threw it up and the experience was horrible. The first month of using this pill I was craving pizza and chocolate. My first period lasted 3-4 days and I did experience some cramping on the first day. On the first month and a half my breasts where really swollen. The second month on the pill my period came on the exact date as last month which I was happy about because my period was so irregular. I was not having craving anything and I did not and still have not gained weight. The pill hasn't really given me any side effects other than that. I really like this pill a lot.
I have been on this pill for 5 months and it was fine until I started breaking out all over my face. I didn't have a period until one random week when I wasnt even on the white pills. It did NOT make me gain weight or increase my appetite. This just isn't for me.

I just started my 2nd pack of Lo Loestrin Fe this past Sunday. I have to admit when I first starting this pill I was a little skeptic because it is such a low dose pill. I absolutely LOVE this pill so far. I do not have a ton of side effects like with other pills. Last summer I briefly was on Ortho Tri-cyclen and it made me gain 10 pounds in one week! On this pill I do not have any weight gain and no crazy mood swings and my period was super light this month. I did have some spotting throughout the first pack though. I work at a gynecology office so I am well aware that the first 3 months of any new birth control can have potentially weird side effects such as abnormal bleeding, mood swings, etc. Thumbs up from me. Will update soon.

I have been on Lo Loestrin for an entire year and I love it! I am a nineteen year old sexually active woman. When I first began to take Lo Loestrin I did get dizzy, felt mood swings, weird cravings, WEIGHT GAIN. You will gain weight, I am unusually small so the weight gain wasn't devastating ( I went from 98 pounds to 115). After a month or two my body adjusted to the pills and everything balanced out and it's been very effective. I've has about three periods in the last year which has its positives and negatives. I personally love Lo Loestrin.
I have taken the pill for four months. The first month was almost continuous light bleeding, which wasn't too awful because I was prepared for the first month to be rough. After that everything went pretty well. I did experience a couple of side effects though. I would have two light periods each month. The first one (what my normal period would be) was very light and lasted about three days. The second one would be a little heavier and last about five days. Cramping was very minimal, so that part was good. Aside from this, I did have some minor breakouts, at least compared to how my skin usually is, which may or may not have been a side effect. It wasn't for me, but that doesn't mean it isn't for everyone. Hope this helps.
I was on this birth control for 8 months. The first 6 months I was moody with little to no weight gain. Sex drive decreases only little. But in month 7 I started having horrific cystic acne. It's so bad I don't want to go out of my house. I've never had cystic acne and now at age 27 it is unbearable and painful. I am switching to Alesse.

I'm on my 9th month; just about 40 years old, given to me for severe cramps and horrible bleeding that has worsened over the past 2 years. My daughter is 15 and just started her first pack about 3 weeks ago. She has been sick more days than I can count, not sleeping well, lost 10 pounds, gets lightheaded often, nausea usually in the evening as well as moody. She's had the breakthrough bleeding just like I did. What I noticed is when we talked is we've both been suffering from the lightheaded feelings quite often at any given time and any place. We both tend to feel tired at the end of most days, headaches and the nausea as well with the light-headedness seem to be the worst.
Well, I've been on this right now for about 3 months...and the first two months were horrific. It has evened out a little bit, I almost switched off of it. I am on an antidepressant, and the first two months have made me more depressed than I've ever been. I think things are evening out...the first two months I had the worst two periods of my life. I hope my mood evens out.
I started this pill about 7 months ago. The first month I was very moody. This went away by my second month. I've had mostly light periods that last 3-4 days, about two heavy periods, and these last two months I've had hardly a period at all. I don't particularly like this because you can't tell if you're pregnant or not but after reading all these reviews it seems quite common. I am a perfect user and when I'm not, breakthrough bleeding occurs. I would suggest taking this pill at night to combat nausea during the first month. Breast tenderness also occurred in the first month or so. No weight gain or appetite change. Cramps are lighter. My acne cleared up by month six. My sex drive and wetness is a bit lower but nothing some lubricant can't fix.
I'm 41, using for cramps and excessive bleeding. My doc gave me 3 months of samples. First and second month, spotted for about a week, then got actual period, for a total of about 10 days bleeding, granted it was lighter, but still had some cramping. Also it all started during the third week of the pills, not the fourth. Terrible mood swings, fatigue. Now halfway through third month, terrible acne. It's like puberty all over again.
I have been taking this for a year. I switched from another birth control pill, which I was on for 10 years. Since the switch my period has been non-existent. I have always been regular, but not with this pill. At first I was very nervous each month, even taking pregnancy tests. Other than the irregularity this pill has very little side effects. It has helped with mood swings I was having on my old pill. I have not gained weight, and my skin seems clearer. I saw my gyno today, and she said the Lo Loestrin Fe has the smallest amount of estrogen, so it makes the uterus so thin, it just doesn't bleed. She says it is perfectly healthy and normal, So I am ok with that. I just know the week I go on vacation, I will get a period!
I have horrible acne but just starting Lo Loestrin has cleared up my skin so much! I'm on my 9th day. I noticed I cry really easy now but not the bad kind for no reason I cry for sad movies and when I gave my rabbit away because we are moving. I'm 23 and don't use it for painful periods but to help with my mood and acne. I'll have to wait and see if it helps with my mood. I did notice I don't sleep as much. I need a good 10 hours at night and nap. Hope it works for others too.
I posted on this forum when I first started Lo Loestrin Fe. And I still love it! I used to have ovarian cysts that would rupture and caused immense pain so I was placed on birth control by my gyno. My periods are 2-3 days (mostly spotting) and light cramping. I do however get more depressed around this time and I feel the birth control does it. I also get more tired. But other than that I'm still loving it! I pay around 15.00 a month after insurance. I plan on staying on this pill.
I recently started my second pack and I couldn't be happier! I had taken 2 different kinds of birth control in the past and they made my vagina very dry and had no desire for sex. With this medication I'm wet and in the mood for sex. I haven't had any side effects except for mood swings for the first 3 days. I would strongly recommend Lo Loestrin Fe.

I am 18 and I started taking Lo Loestrin Fe about 3 weeks ago. I have horrible acne (on my face, back, chest, and shoulders) since I have been taking this birth control my acne is little to none, thank God! I did get my period while on the pill and it was already lighter and shorter compared to my usual 6-7 day hell. I did have spotting the first 2 weeks then it stopped. The only thing that is a bummer is breast tenderness (especially in the morning) my breast are swollen, but I don't think they will get bigger than my already 34D. My Gyno gave me 2 packs and my insurance is not going to cover.
GREAT PILL! Last year, after being on a brand of birth control pill for 20 years with light, predictable and short periods, I began to have breakthrough bleeding, horrible cramping and bleeding. Lo Loestrin was the third pill my GYN put me on and after a week or so of spotting, light cramping, I haven't had a period since mid-December. So far so good on this prescription, I'm happy to have tried it.

This is my first birth control pill, I'm 24 and have been on Lo Loestrin Fe for about a little over a year now. The only TERRIBLE side effect I've gotten from this pill is a horrible sweet tooth. When I first started taking it I just wanted to eat chocolate and I gained about 10lbs. Other then that, Sometimes I don't get a period, sometimes I do and its anything from a dot to light bleeding for 4 days. Varies month to month. I don't have any spotting between periods, my sex drive is in overload so it doesn't dry you out or anything.
I really love this pill just cost a lot with my insurance but to me its worth it.

I actually really enjoy this birth control. It's been the first and only birth control that I've tried, and I can't complain. I didn't gain weight, my acne didn't get worse or better, my sex drive is fine and really I didn't have any of the awful symptoms that typically accompany birth controls. The only thing that did happen to me, was when I first began using Lo Loestrin, I had a different mood each week for the first month. One week I'd be sad, the next mad, the next happy, so on and so forth until my body got accustomed to what was happening. Now it's like I'm not even on anything!
I love this birth control! For years I have suffered from horrible bleeding, menstrual cramps that kept me in bed for a day or two and sometimes vomiting. I have been on Lo Loestrin for 4 months. I get no period and no cramps. I wish I would have tried it sooner. I did spot for two months but just a tiny bit. The downfall is its very expensive. Luckily my Dr. gave a year of samples. I am over 40 and actually do nothing getting my period for the first time ever.

I started Lo Loestrin Fe as my first birth control pill ever in August of 2012. I have always had some acne and it had been pretty bad shortly before taking this but it got way better right before I started this. However, after taking this, my acne was the worst it had been in a long time, maybe ever. I just stopped taking this two days ago and within the five months that I was on it, I gained about six pounds or so. I didn't mind this at all actually, because I am quite thin and have been desperately trying to gain weight. Also, my breast size went up some. My period only just became regular this month, but it's so light that you can barely even call it a period which worried me for a while.
I have been on the pill for about a year and three months. It works excellent as a birth control. My breasts only grew like half a size. It also gives me extremely light, short periods, which is pretty awesome. My reason for originally getting it in was to regulate my periods, since I was spotting for weeks straight before. It has not only regulated my periods, but has regulated my whole monthly schedule. My cravings are intense with insatiable hunger certain times of the month. The only thing I really hate about this pill is the mood swings. I have the most violent and depressing mood swings for no reason whatsoever, random times of the day. It feels like intense anger. This in itself makes me want to get off the pill.

So far I really like this pill. I just started my second pack and I haven't had any side effects besides some breast tenderness, and when I first started taking it (I started the first day of my period) I had some light spotting for about 4 days after my period ended. The only problem I'm having with it right now is that I got my period, but it isn't any shorter or lighter than usual and I'm getting mild cramps. It's kind of a bummer. I know my body is still getting used to the pill since it's only my second month, but I was hoping that it would kick in right away. But overall, it's a great pill and I feel completely normal on it.
