LoSeasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I am on my second, three month pack of LoSeasonique and I am seriously contemplating stopping the birth control. My first three month pack, around week six I started bleeding. This lasted about a week and I thought my body was adjusting. Since then my face has broken out - I have never had acne problems. I am now on week four of my second cycle of pills, and I am now bleeding lightly again. I am experiencing the worst cramps I have ever had in my life. All I do is sleep, and I am still exhausted all the time. I can't even get myself to do normal activities like grocery shopping.

Seasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): Yes, this medicine was a life saver in the begining. But recently I have felt as if I am losing my mind and myself. I have constant anxiety and when it turns into a panic attack it is draining. I have apocalyptic feelings and struggle to believe myself and others. I would recommend to not go on this medicine and save yourself the mental pain, because there are other measures that can be taken.

LoSeasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I'm going on my 3rd week of LoSeasonique and have been bleeding ever since I started. Just when I think it's going to stop, it's starts heavier again. I do get a little dizzy, but I'm hoping it's just my body getting used to the hormones and I'll stabilize soon. No skin problems, and I feel I'm less emotional than with another pill I had tried.

Jolessa (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): Jolessa is awesome! I've been on it before and had the spotting during the first pack but then it worked great! I began using it again and this time my doctor suggested to take the first month and stop for a week to get a period and then continue with the 2nd and third month. (So 2 periods on first pack) to minimize if not eliminate break through bleeding or spotting. Worked well and I couldn't be happier. Regulated and way less painful!
LoSeasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I have finished a 3- month pack for the purpose of reducing heavy bleeding probably caused by fibroids. The breakthrough bleeding never stopped. The package insert says this symptom occurs in 10% of the patients. Pros: more energy because I have fewer heavy periods. Cons: Still have abdominal pain once in 3 months during period, and have small amount of bleeding every day. I haven't decided whether to continue for another 3 months or seek a different treatment.
Seasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): This medication is absolutely awesome! I had been taking Ortho-Tri-Cyclen for years and had continuously suffered from break through bleeding. I have tried other birth control medications but nothing helped until I decided to try Seasonique. It is a miracle drug, no more mood swings or abnormal bleeding. This pill is a life saver!
LoSeasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I have been taking LoSeasonique for 6 1/2 weeks, thought I was going to really like it but started my period 7 days ago with cramps and all and it is still going on, I have a call in to my doctor just waiting for a phone call. I am seriously thinking about giving it up as it was only to alleviate PMS symptoms as I am done having kids and my periods before were only 3 days so would rather have 3 days with severe cramps then non-stop spotting or period as I would call it. Oh and I have also gained weight from it, not much but it has only been 6 weeks.
Seasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I've been on this pill for almost 3 months, only 1 week away, but I've been bleeding since the second week I started this pill. I haven't had any weight gain, acne problems, but I have had a significant decrease in energy (which with how much I enjoy running, is not working out because I would rather sleep all day and lay around and that's not me at all). Also sex drive = none existent and I should have the urge at 23, but just isn't there. So, this definitely isn't the right pill for me. It did eliminate the cramping though, but the bleeding and being worn out is too much to handle.
Lutera (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): Excess facial hair has always been a problem for me as well as abnormally heavy periods. For the first time in my life I don't have to worry about waking up with dark hairs sprouting out of my chin... three months ago, before taking this pill, I was plucking / waxing every day, and now my upper lip and chin hair has been reduced by 90%.
I am 30 years old.
Anyone else have this experience? OC's are not a common treatment for excess hair and I'm wondering why, because this has been a life changing experience for me. I don't think I am imagining things. I went from plucking at least once a day to a couple of times a week.
Thanks for reading.
LoSeasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I'm on my second pack of LoSeasonique, about five or six weeks away from my first "real" period on this BC. For the past few days I've been experiencing brownish discharge (from blood) and moderate cramping. Other than that, no complaints really. The pill didn't clear up my skin but neither did my other one. I really hope this cramping stops now though, it's very painful. Enough that I can't go out much. I've heard that it gets better once your body has adjusted but I don't know how long that will take.
Seasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I started this pill to only have 4 periods a year. I don't need the Birth Control because my husband is "fixed". I was like clockwork every 28 days, but my period would last 7 horrible days. I had major bleeding, clotting and cramps. So, I thought this would help with both the flow and amount of time. I started the pill 8 weeks ago, since then I have been bleeding (enough to wear a pad) for 4.5 of those weeks. My breasts are super sore, and have grown a cup size. I have had cramping for most of the time. I'm going to stop because it's causing the very thing I'm trying to eliminate.
Seasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I have been on Seasonique for 1 year and ever since the beginning I can't stop bleeding. This last cycle has been 28 days of straight heavy bleeding. I would rather be pregnant again.
LoSeasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): The breakthrough bleeding started a few days after I started taking it. Each day it gets worse. It is now day 30, I think this will be my last pack. I'd rather have a heavy period for 3 days, and light bleeding for 5 more. At least I get at least a 10 day break before periods.
Quasense (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I went to pick up my Jolessa refill (I loved) and they gave me Quasense. Had spotting/bleeding all summer - 2 months, serious weight gain, terrible cramps, and no libido. With 30 days left in the pack - I could no longer bear the symptoms and stopped 3 days ago. It's nice to have my life back! Bleeding stopped, bloating diminished and desired intimacy with my husband again. This was really a terrible experience. Lesson - stop sooner if not working, don't change your medicine.
Alesse (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I started taking this medicine in the beginning of Nov.2011, mainly to reduce my hormonal acne and to regulate my period. At the end of that same month, I got my period and surprisingly the cramps were not severe. In fact, I had never had such a peaceful period in a long time. Since then, my periods have been painless. :) Mid December, I noticed that the severity of my acne had diminished and my skin had started to clear. End of Jan. 2012, I got 5 painful cysts on my face. I was extremely upset, but I decided to be patient and stick with it. My patience paid off. It is end of February 2012 and my face looks way better. I haven't had any cysts since then. As for the side effects, just nausea when medicine is taken on an empty stomach. I LOVE IT.
Levlen (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I was having heavy bleeding and long cycles, they would last over 2 weeks. With my next cycle I started taking Levlen on day one and had no bleeding on day two. I was surprised how quickly it worked to stop bleeding immediately.
Aviane (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I have been on Aviane for about a year and a half for dysmenorrhea, and it's great. I get a bit moody/sad the day or two before my period, but that's the worst of it. It's helped a LOT with cramps. I get by on 2-4 Midol per month now!
LoSeasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I started taking Loseasonique because my doctor suggested I do so. Every month just before my period I get a horrible headache that last about three days and nothing I take will make it go away. It has really began to interfere with my life. My doctor said that it was an estrogen withdrawal headache and there is nothing that could really be done. However, he said that if I only had a period once every three months I would only have to tolerate the headache once every three months. I have now been on my first three month pack for six weeks and I have started bleeding, cramping and yes, I have the headache. I have been tired, very emotional and have had migraines since I started LoSeasonique.
LoSeasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I have been inadvertently taking this for over a year now. I stopped my period myself with Lutera, which is the same strength and medication in Lo Seasonique so I've switched to LoSeasonique to save money. When I first started taking it, I spotted for a long long time and if I take it even one hour later than my scheduled 4pm time I inevitably get cramps for two days. If I miss one more than one day in a row I will spot for a week or two and feel as crappy as I used to whenever I got a period. My periods did NOT get less painful on the pill and that is why I stopped it all together and I couldn't be happier. If you can wait out the spotting, it is so worth it.
Quasense (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I switched to this primarily due to the appeal of having only 4 periods a year and stayed on it for 3 years. Generally it was uneventful: I didn't gain weight, it had no effect (positive or negative) on my acne, my breasts stayed the same size. However, it destroyed my libido. It was so gone I thought I was asexual. It wasn't until I couldn't get my script refilled (I couldn't get an appointment that mixed in with my work schedule), so I had to get off the pill, which then led me to find out that I am not asexual and, in fact, had a libido. Another down point was the spotting I got in between periods and the effects of the period seem to have been compounded (i.e. compared to pills for monthly periods). I was sore, tired, and irritable.
Seasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I have been on this pill for about a month and on my second week I am bloated, never hungry, have mood swings and don't want to get out of bed in the mornings. Also I started light bleeding like when you are coming off your period.
Seasonale (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I've been taking this birth control for over 2 years. It works great most of the time but once a year I have a period that's 2 weeks long. I'm going to my doctor soon to look at other options.
LoSeasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I was a little hesitant to try LoSeasonique due to all of the negative reviews, but thought it was worth a shot at no longer having a period every month, since I struggle with heavy periods for 11 days every month. I have just finished taking my first pack and never once experienced spotting during the three months on this pack. Nor did I have any changes in skin, weight or cramping. My sex drive even increased. Some factors that may have helped ease my body onto this pill so smoothly might relate to the fact that I took the pill at the same time everyday and have been on birth control for about nine years. Everyone's body reacts differently, so it may be worth taking the risk. I for one am very pleased with this pill.
Levlen (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): Levlen is a product I have used for the last three years in order to regulate my periods (I have amenorrhea). Without the aid of hormones, I do not have a proper cycle and therefore have been on "versions" of the pill since fifteen. Levlen is just as good as any, and (for me) the contraceptive ability is an added bonus.
Aviane (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel): I am on Aviane now and very pleased with it besides the few pounds and easy bloating IT is great! My periods are lighter less painful and come exactly when they are supposed to. It has also worked to skip my period. I am very happy to have found this.
