I started on the Nuva Ring because I was diagnosed with PMDD, (premenstrual dsyphoric disorder - mood disorder). I've had other birth control in the past and could never remember to take it on time. I started Nuvaring in January while on a mood stabilizer. The first month I thought I was pregnant. I mean with all the mood swings, weight gain, it was overwhelming. The second month was uneventful but I was noticing a feeling of dullness. March and April were scary. I became very depressed. I continued with the Nuvaring. I found that days I skipped my mood stabilizer I felt better but once I took them again I started to feel horrible once more. I asked my doctor to take me off the mood stabilizers. I felt better. I'm still on Nuvaring and feeling fine.
I do love the fact that I do not have to take a pill everyday with Nuvaring but my side effects are horrible. Major rash started on my face about a month ago and now its all over my body. I only linked it to Nuvaring now. Plus I have nausea and painful cramps.
I love Nuvaring. It's easy to insert and I've only had it fall out like once or twice since I've been using it. I started it three months ago, and haven't really noticed any side effects. Maybe a little bit of moodiness, but it's better than being pregnant. My partner can feel it, but he doesn't complain. I will NEVER go back to using the pill again!
I've been on the NuvaRing for almost two years now and I LOVE it. It's great...no side effects. Lower dosage of hormones, so I don't need to feel weird about putting lots of hormones into my body. AND not pregnant yet! I would recommend this form of birth control to anyone!
I have not fully decided if I think the Nuvaring is for me or not. I have been using the ring for a little over a month now. The side effects I heard about have not all happened to me yet, the ones I have experienced are, a lot of discharge the first week and still some more than normal. My sex drive has completely disappeared which was not a normal thing for me. My heart beat sometimes feels like it is a little racey. My stomach has been cramping some, but not anything compared to when I was on the pill. I was on Ortha Tricylcen Lo for 5 years. I have had no weight gain, back pain. No sickness. Hope this helps.
I have been using the Nuvaring for 8 years now and I will never ever switch to anything else. To start, I don't do birth control pills very well because I forget to take them. Lucky me, I really don't have to remember much with the ring. All I have to do is circle the date in my calendar for the days I need to take the ring out and put it back in. I didn't feel like having a period in June (gotta love this part!) so I just kept my ring in during my "period week" and changed the ring normally after that week. I have had absolutely NO side effects. I have little cramping and I know the EXACT dates I will flow. Now, I do have mood swings, but that is normal for women, regardless what birth control methods you use. I HIGHLY recommend it!
I've been on the Nuvaring ever since I had my baby girl who is 3 yrs now! I absolutely LOVE IT. I have nothing bad to say about it. I can't feel it during sex and neither does my husband. I would recommend this to anyone!
I started using this birth control about 7 months ago. Since I've been on it I have noticed my zero sex drive and constant break outs. I have had abdominal cramping and crazy mood swings, depression. I'm always tired but can never sleep. I realized it was all just side effects listed on the Nuvaring website. Thank goodness my husband is patient with me. Wouldn't recommend it. Have stopped using it and am feeling and looking much better.
This is my first month on Nuva Ring. No side effects. I felt great. I guess I am one of the lucky ones. My mood swings have disappeared. I haven't felt grumpy or grouchy the week before my cycle. No weight gain for me.
I have used NuvaRing for 2 months now, and I LOVE IT. I previously used Yaz and Balziva. I was terrible at remembering to take my pills- so this was the perfect option. I cannot ever feel it, and I never had it "fall out". My partner can sometimes feel it during intercourse, but it doesn't bring discomfort.
An added benefit it... it makes my skin clear and radiant. I previously used Accutance, to clear my mild breakouts-with no luck. NuvaRing has completely cleared my skin and rid me of breakouts!
I was on Nuvaring and I loved it until a year and a half into when I started bleeding during sex. That's how I knew I had to get off it. When I was on the pill that happened too and as soon as I switched to something else I was fine. I'm not sure if that's just because my body gets used to birth controls after about a year and a half and starts acting up on them.
I have been Nuvaring for about 4 months now...I love it. I switched to Nuva Ring because birth control pills make me sick to my stomach. The only problem I have found I have had is when inserting it I never did it right and it would kind of poke out a little. But after talking to my doctor and learning some tricks I haven't had any problems.
I have been on the NuvaRing for one week. I came off of Tri Sprintec. I was so hormonally messed up from going to a combination pill to an estrogen only back to a combination. I bloated out and looked like 6 months pregnant. So I got off all birth control for one month and inserted the NuvaRing when my period started. I have been constantly nauseous with no appetite at all. I also have SEVERE diarrhea. I'm still going to give it a try for another month to see if those side effects wear off. Every time I start a new Birth control pill I get sick to the stomach. So this must be the case. I love it's convenience. I have no other side effects.
I've been on this for two months and its okay. I think its probably the best form of hormonal birth control just because it has a lot lower levels than other hormonal birth control options. It's nice not having to take a pill every day, but sex with this is uncomfortable for me so I have to take it out every time. Noticeable side effects: much more weepy, I cry over the most ridiculous things, breasts got bigger (one good thing), much much more prone to acne, so I have to watch what I eat, my sex drive has officially died. I used to be crazy for my boyfriend, now I don't want to bother. I'll be getting off this and going back to condoms if I don't get a sex drive soon.
I've been on it for more than 3 months. It's been really great; and is great for "first time" birth control because it's easy to use and a very low dose - less than 1/3rd of a normal pill dosage. While on Nuvaring, I've experienced:
Effectiveness, no pregnancies - even when used with any type of lubricant. Able to use continuously to skip periods (which I love). Larger breasts (went from a C to a full D)
Light break-through bleeding, typically for one day when I change the Nuvaring. Cramping, which can be very painful. Personally I think it's linked to constipation, which can last a few days. Taking a cheap OTC laxative helps relieve both constipation and cramps. Small weight gain, mainly in breasts and hips. My waist is the same size.
I was on this for 5 years (and birth control pills for about 12 years), and would have told you how fabulous it was. <List all the benefits everyone else has listed, here.> Then a friend of mine convinced me to stop birth control all together for a while, and I turned into a new and better person! I dropped 5 lbs instantly, had a huge sex drive, more lubrication, and just felt better. I wouldn't say I was depressed before, but after going off of it, I would describe my time on birth control as feeling like I was inside a cloud. Less emotions in general, sometimes a little down. I'm bummed I'm back on it, but it seems to be the least impactful than the others. I might try Paragard to avoid the hormones.
I have been on NuvaRing for about a year and a half now. I chose this method because it wasn't something that I had to take everyday. I had a few initial concerns; 1. Although my boyfriend was aware of the birth control, I was worried he may feel it and it may affect our sex life. 2. I was skeptical because it wasn't something I took everyday, so I was worried of it's effectiveness. and 3. Side effects, weight gain, mood swings, irregular periods etc. I really have nothing bad to say about this method. My boyfriend says he can't feel it, and I've never had a slip out. I have had no noticeable weight gain, or mood swings and my period is on almost the same day every month and they have become very short and light lasting only 1 to 2 days.
The Nuvaring is very easy to use however I had some odd problems with. I didn't gain any weight or get acne. The only problem that I did have with it was the dryness. I was very dry during sex and before. The doctor recommended that we use lubricant and remove the ring which we did and that didn't help to much. The worst part was the itchiness that I had around the lips. The doctor told me that would go away and that I needed to use the product longer. However, the itchiness got worse and the whole vaginal area became very dry and painful. During urination it would burn. I was tested for urinary infection and yeast infection and the doctor did not find anything. After 3 months I had enough of the itching and not that great of a sex drive.
I used the ring for a little over 2yrs. Switched over to it from the patch. My hubby could feel it, I sure could when mountain biking - and made me gain weight. Oh, and no sex drive at all. Just switched to Levora...fingers crossed!
I am a 24 year old, and have been on birth control since grade 10 (16 years old). I have been on all hormonal birth controls there are. My favorite BY FAR is the Nuvaring, my side effects are minimal and include general birth control side effects such as thickening mucous and bloating. I am not moody nor has it made me gain weight. Compared to other birth control the needle (Depo) made me bloated and cranky and I felt very uncomfortable, the patch was alright. I was not a fan of having it stuck to my body for a week at a time but it would be my second favorite. The pill (minus taking it everyday being a pain in the ass) Ortho Tri-Cyclen made me sick after the first pill in each pack, and Yaz I found gave me no side effects but increased breast size.
I used NuvaRing for about 18 months. Very effective birth control, easy to use, easy to remember. Most of the time, you forget it's there. I did feel it during sex and sometimes my partner did as well. Easy fix - simply remove right before he enters you and promptly replace after sex.
I'm finally realizing I may have had some side effects. I was very emotional - crying a lot and feeling anxious (on edge) at times, often feeling a significant lack of energy/motivation. All this was unusual for me and now I'm realizing that maybe it caused me to have some mild depression.
Also, I had perpetual discharge. I'm not sure I would go so far as to call it a yeast infection because there wasn't any burning or itching...just the discharge everyday.
I have used NuvaRing for about 3 years. I LOVE the convenience and the fact that it's a low-dose hormonal contraceptive. I haven't experienced weight gain, mood fluctuations, or spotting while on it. However, I've noticed that my sex drive has diminished greatly over the past year or so. I've had recurrent bacterial vaginosis, which is caused by a change in the balance of the vaginal flora. I've noticed an increase in acne along my jawline around my withdrawal week, and I have a predictable headache during that week as well. Despite the fact that I'll really miss the convenience of the NuvaRing, I've decided to talk to my gynecologist about trying another contraceptive.
I love the NuvaRing. I have had some minor side effects but beside all of it I love it. My period has always been regular when I take the Nuvaring off. I been using the Nuvaring about 1/2 a year now, and had not used a protection a couple of times, and the Nuvaring has protected me from getting pregnant.
