Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) for Atrophic Vaginitis "I'm a 56 year old postmenopausal woman. I've been postmenopausal for 4 years and have been using Estrace for the last 2 years. I use a minimal amount (2mg once a week). This has greatly helped with my vaginal dryness, as well as keeping the hot flashes in check (a surprising, yet unexpected side benefit). I have had no bad side effects I am aware of. Prior to using Estrace I was taking 2 or 3 oral hormones (with some side-effects), plus I was paranoid about the cancer risk with those. I discontinued the oral hormones and tried using NO hormones for about 6 weeks and couldn't stand it, so my doctor prescribed Estrace."

Estring (estradiol) for Atrophic Vaginitis "It works well, EXCEPT -- my "vaginal vault" is NOT that deep. It will NOT insert any further. (It flips if I try.)The device hangs out and irritates my genitalia -- leading to poking & incontinence!!! Make it a little SMALLER, please."

Imvexxy (estradiol) for Dyspareunia "Pros: packaging is better than Yuvafem and Vagifen since it is inserted manually without all those plastic applicators. Cons: The first time I went to renew the Rx they hiked the monthly price by $15 (from $35 to $50). Otherwise I would have continued trying it for longer. Instead I ended up using it for only 8 weeks. The tablet dissolves easily, but that makes for significant discharge overnight. The tablet is pink (they use Red#40) and the discharge stains clothes (needed to use a stainremover) so I needed to use pantiliners at night."

Vagifem (estradiol) for Atrophic Vaginitis "I have been using Vagifem 10mcg for 8-9 months and I just switched to Estrace vaginal cream 1gr. Vagifem kept my vagina healthy but the estrogen doesn't reach the external genital area which remains dry. With cream I'm able to use it in the vagina but I spread a little extra on the outside."

Imvexxy (estradiol) for Atrophic Vaginitis "After dealing with atrophy following a total hysterectomy, my Doc suggested Imvexxy. Let's start with the positives: It DID what it was supposed to do, painful sex vanished after using it only a week and 1/2 and I felt better in the nether regions. Now for the "not so" positives: I noticed my hair thinning, and had a slight headache. In the 2nd week I noticed a rash on my arms(elbow down) and legs. My Family Doc treated me with steroids, but it started right back following treatment, I decided to stop Imvexxy on a hunch, and after nearly two weeks the rash began to fade. When I mentioned this to my Gyn, she said you must be allergic to coconut oil.... I use coconut oil every day with no issues. The ONLY thing different before all this mess was starting Imvexxy. Bottom line if anyone did have a rash after this medication and was told "That's not the cause." by their Doc. you are not alone. I am trying another (non-hormonal) product as it had some good reviews...just to see."

Vagifem (estradiol) for Atrophic Vaginitis "This medication has improved my quality of life significantly. Since I went through premature ovarian failure and started menopause at age 38, by age 42, I had severe atrophic vaginitis which meant very painful sex and constant bladder infections. Sorry, I'm not giving up sex at age 42. Especially since otherwise I'm extremely fit and healthy. All the estrogen creams were a big mess and one of them even gave me a rash. A doctor suggested I try the vagifem and it was super easy, no mess and no reaction and solved my issues. I was happy and so was hubby. Now if I could just get a generic. 8 tablets (1 month supply is $176!! And my insurance now has a $3000 deductible (thanks Obamacare) so I have to pay for it myself."

Imvexxy (estradiol) for Dyspareunia "I have been taking Imvexxy 10mg twice a week for 6 months now at night before bedtime. It has not helped at all with painful intercourse and dryness. My dr told me not to expect instant results and to try it for a few months. I had also hoped for at least a small bump in libido, but nothing. I usually get a slight headache the day after using and there is some external burning as well. My hair feels thinner. I don't like having to insert the capsule manually; it's awkward and never feel that I've inserted it far enough. Have not had any of it come out, though. Also feel that I may be starting a yeast infection. This is not for me and I will discontinue after this month."

Yuvafem (estradiol) for Atrophic Vaginitis "**Update from my review dated November 7, 2018** I formally contacted the FDA in regards to what I felt was questionable efficacy of Yuvafem and its poor packaging (as compared to the brand-name Vagifem). The FDA contacted Amneal Pharmaceuticals and Amneal agreed to look into my complaint about Yuvafem's efficacy and its packaging. Amneal wanted me to provide them with the Yuvafem that I had leftover, which I did. It was to be sent back to them anonymously with just a brief history of my experience while on the medication. Since it was done anonymously, I won't have follow up in regards to my complaint, but at least the FDA responded to it and contacted them. I hope this helps others who have noticed a difference after being changed to Yuvafem, or who were started on it initially and continue to have symptoms consistent with atrophic vaginitis. If you feel the drug is not therapeutically beneficial to you, please contact the FDA to let them know. It can be done online."

Vagifem (estradiol) for Atrophic Vaginitis "I have only been taking this for a few months, but notice a big difference, I suffered really bad pain during intercourse and this has improved the situation, I also think it has levelled out my menopausal moods. I will be staying on it. I am fortunate to live in Scotland where I do not pay for this medication directly, prescriptions are free."

Vagifem (estradiol) for Atrophic Urethritis "After years of suffering with recurrent cystitis, terrible pain in my urethra, bloating, chronic fatigue, I've recently been put on vagifem and the difference has been incredible. Had previously tried antibiotics, over the counter remedies, various herbal treatments - NOTHING worked. I started Vagifem during a bad attack of cystitis and within hours the pain had all but gone. I've also noticed I have more energy, and a little more zest for life! Its early days and I have slight nausea, but so far so good. I'm delighted that something has worked at last."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) "I had one area inside my labia that bothered me after sex. The dr said he thought it was Lichen. He gave me a sample of Estrace cream. I only massaged a small amount in the affected area. It took a few days for the discomfort to fade. After a week I noticed that my labia was tighter, not so flabby. My libido increased too. I wish I could bathe in this! It's a "facelift" for your vagina."

Yuvafem (estradiol) "The drug has helped my mild incontinence. The applicator and packaging is very bad for several Reasons 1. Plastic is overkill. Why plastic? I will throw away over 100 applicators and other plastic per year. I live near the ocean and cannot believe all the applicators for different female products that litter the ocean. Surely packaged in paper and with paper applicators Is the way to go. Please use your design brains to help us not ruin the environment anymore. If drinking straws are bad then your applicators with so much more rigid plastic are 100 times worse."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) for Atrophic Vaginitis "The patches stopped working so this was last on the list to try. Dr. gave me a sample to try. Not very effective and Way Way overpriced. Will be trying compounded version. Wake up drug companies there are a lot of us baby boomers suffering from menopause who will not go quietly into the night. Especially when we're expected to keep working until 66."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) for Atrophic Vaginitis "I'm 58 and recently started on this medicine. Almost immediate relief of vulvar dryness and pain. Not sure yet if the painful intercourse will be relieved but this looks optimistic to me after many months of intense pain. Medicine does not seem gooey or even noticeable when used. Really like it so far."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) for Atrophic Vaginitis "I am a 57 year female, who started using Estrace for vaginal dryness, painful intercourse and almost immediately noticed falling hair. I asked my doctor who assured me that it would never cause hair loss. After 3 months my hair was so thin that a rubber band no longer stays put. I quit Estrace almost 2 months ago and the hair continues to fall. "

Yuvafem (estradiol) for Atrophic Vaginitis "Switched to this product and it was horrible. I thought could have sex again and it was painful and got an infection. I used this as prescribed. This product does not melt properly at all. This product should not be used as saw 3 doctors for UTI and the embarrassment of being accused it was my partner fault. It was not. It was product. No woman should have to go through this. Did not want this product, it is insurance trying to cut corners. It cost them more in long run due to the number of doctor visits and 3 rounds of antibotics and one emergency visit. Sex was painful and vagina dry after using.. gyno said tablets not melting.. Please get rid of this product"

Vagifem (estradiol) for Atrophic Vaginitis "Sex became extremely painful after menopause..so much so that penis insertion was impossible! I thought I was done...my gyno suggested this and gave me some samples. I had started seeing somebody I really liked so had "the talk" about pain..I know some others have had this talk too. He said it wasn't a problem and meant it but I wanted to try..a month later..penetration was achieved with only a slight amount of discomfort! In fact..I was so surprised that it took me a moment to register that Yes..that IS what I'm feeling. So far..everything is fine. I will never be the way I was..but I'm very satisfied with this medication."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) for Atrophic Urethritis "I have been using Estrace for 5 yrs -a complete hysterectomy at age 42-can't live without it-no more nightmares, nerves are calm normallly according to my husband-HA! & don't have hot flashes. I am fortunate that my insurance has always covered It but in Jan 2018,a generic came out & my insurance would only pay for the generic. I was fine with that- but two months later I realized the generic was not working. All my symptoms had returned full blown! My husband told me to go to pharmacy and pay whatever the name brand Estrace costs! It would have been $325!! I told the Pharmacist my symptoms on the generic and he called my insurance company- told them I had had a reaction to generic-they then covered the name brand - within 24 hours I felt like a new person and better each day. I want to say here-the generic did not work for me. Keep working it women-there IS A way to have a GREAT AND HAPPY LIFE after menopause!"

The day after the third dose and for the next three days, the itching and inflammation were unbearable. I would call the swelling an explosion. Time to try something else."

Imvexxy (estradiol) for Dyspareunia "I had been taking Imvexxy for almost 5 months. I had seen no positive changes. I started having heart palpitations after 3 months of usage. Then I began to notice pain from my fibroid tumors returning. I have discontinued taking this product. I’d rather have painful intercourse then live with fibroid tumors and heart palpitations. I’m wondering how many other women have had these same problems and never reported them."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) for Atrophic Vaginitis "I'm only giving Estrace Cream a 3 rating on the scale due to there being issues with the product. I have been using this product for a couple of years. It did help until the last few months, I went from using it 2-3 times a week to needing it every other day. My frustration comes from the amount that actually is in the tube. It says there is 42.5 grams in the tube, I alway keep track of the amount in the tube and end up with about 24 grams out of the tube in the end. Has anyone else kept track of this? Also, I can't afford it when I went yesterday to pick up a new tube and they wanted $290 for 1 tube?!! Why would it be this expensive? That was even after my insurance paid a portion."
