For Birth Control "I've been taking Yaz for 3 months now and I absolutely love it. I've lost weight, without trying, and my periods have greatly decreased in heaviness and severity. I have not experienced any of the bad side effects like depression or tiredness, I wake up happy and ready to go. The only difference I've noticed that is not so great is that the first day of taking the placebo pill I tend to be emotional, but that usually clears up by the second day. Also, if I miss a pill I usually have stomach pain until I take it, which is actually a nice reminder to take it. I love Yaz though and cannot say enough good things about it."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I took this for one week and it almost killed me (literally) and I am still trying to fix a relationship. The dr prescribed it for me to help with PMDD. Within a day, I was nauseated at even the thought of food. I couldn't eat the whole week without throwing up or dry heaving. I had chest pains that felt like a heart attack. It also made me extremely paranoid (hence the relationship fixing). I spent two days with a migraine so bad I was eating Excedrin like candy. I contacted my dr to say I was not taking it anymore and she gave me excuses to keep going with it. Told me I needed to get used to it. That night I found myself laying in bed seriously depressed. Never been so low in my life. I immediately contacted a friend to talk to me until I fell asleep. I didn't trust myself. And my dr wanted me to adjust to it for a couple months? PMDD sucks but I'll take that any day over the week that almost ended my life."

For Acne "I've been using Yaz as a form of birth control but also for my moderate, persistent acne (tried everything in 5 years) I would say the first 3 months were terrible..my acne has never been worst so be prepared. But now, I'm now 7 months into it and my skin is the clearest it has been in years. I still have pimples but they are really small and go away in a day and it could also be because I'm eating really bad at the moment. The only negative thing is it has made me a bit more anxious and prone to crying, even if my gynecologist says it's impossibile, I've noticed that I'm way more sensitive than before..even little things make me cry. But anyway, I suggest you to try it if you don't want babies and acne, just be patient, I know it can be tough the first months but it's worth it ! I also haven't noticed a gain in weight and I guess it s because it is a low dosage pill. Good luck !"

For Birth Control "I was on Yaz for about 6 months. A couple weeks ago I was finding it hard to breathe and having chest pains. To my complete surprise, doctors found I had multiple blood clots in both my lungs blocking almost my entire airway and admitted me into hospital straight away. I am a healthy 23 year old and doctors said they have never seen a PE (Pulmonary Embolism) as bad as mine. Tests came back confirming that the clots were caused from my YAZ pill. They told me that had I waited a couple more days I could have dropped down dead without any warning. Very scary to know the pill can cause this much damage to the body, I don't know how they are still producing and selling this pill. After my near death experience, I will NEVER recommend this pill"

For Birth Control "I started using Yaz to treat my PCOS and excess facial hair growth. I always felt depressed but I kind of dealt with it, it wasn't that bad until I started taking this pill. First, I was crying every night for no reason, I had terrible headaches (something that never happened to me before ) and my anxiety and depression are at its highest, I'm having really dasrk thoughts, and I'm so scared because I think I will hurt myself or my family. And don't get me started on obsessive thoughts, they make me hate myself. Do not take this pill for any reason!"

For Acne "Gosh, I feel sorry for myself - tried everything, except (Ro)-accutane. Many thousands were spent without any success and many years went by just trying to HIDE this bad skin. The irony is that I have acne on my body, and less on my face. Yep, and excessive hair is just the icing of the cake! I have hormonal imbalances, thus knew that nothing topical would help for good. Nevertheless, was afraid to try birth control pills. Anyway, Yaz was invented quite recently. So, girls and women, if you have hormonal problems, Yaz is the best thing around. I can put WHATEVER on my skin now (like night creme), and my skin is perfect. No clogged pores, no inflammation, nothing. I can go outside without skin makeup, which was an impossible thing just two years ago."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "Before Yaz I was very moody almost bipolar and my periods were very heavy and painful. After Yaz I am myself again and my periods are light and regular. I love the feeling of being in control of my body and Yaz has helped me feel that. It's my miracle."

For Acne "I was prescribed Yaz a month ago due to a hormonal imbalance, cystic acne, and water weight. I just finished my first pack and wanted to share with all of you. I have lost some water weight and my mood/hormones have levelled so much! Before I was around an 8 around pms but I haven’t felt above a 3 in weeks. This acne however is horrible. It has completely wrecked my skin. Everyday I have new cystic bumps along my cheeks and jawline. My doc wants me to give it a full 3 months, but I seriously don’t know if I can continue with my face like this. I’m 30, not 15. I have been using bp and been prescribed retin-a to help. I am Beyond embarrassed by it, so hopefully it gets better. Before yaz I would get maybe a handful Of cystic acne around my period, but I have a new bump everyday since I started"

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I developed premenstrual dysphoric disorder after having my first child and it was unbearable. 2 weeks out of every month I would be terribly swollen and bloated, hungry, craving weird things, suffered from insomnia, had headaches and felt tired, and just really sick in general. I was also totally crazy and my moods would go up and down really dramatically. I just finished my first pack of YAZ and it has been AMAZING. Within the first month ALL of my symptoms have gone away and I feel great. I have even lost some weight. I had a slight headache and nausea the first 2 or 3 days I was on the pill but other than that nothing at all. I was afraid to take it because of all the negative reviews, but everyone is different. Worked great for me and has changed my life."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I'm just simply amazed and I hope this continues to work. I've only taken 2 doses of yaz and I went from constantly struggling with physical and emotional symptoms of pmdd and overall hormonal imbalancement to feeling much more at peace with myself. I feel lite and my body feels calm. I had anxiety, anger, I was hyper sensitive and so negative- I felt it physically. I would physically shake from anger. I could feel my uterus contract and cramp up when I got hurt and was angry. My pmdd had started early just 3 days ago when my breasts just felt so heavy with cysts that were so painful - it hurt to just get out of bed. I could sleep all day. I was cranky and could not stand being touched by my BF. Constipation and lots of gas as well."

For Acne "I only took YAZ for 1 month and 1 week and had to stop due to an explosion of pimples on my cheeks and jaw line that I never had before along with severe pelvic and leg pain and severe depression. My hair was also falling out like crazy. I am now 1 week without birth control and my mood has increased substantially and all of the side effects went away. YAZ also made me get a yeast infection on my FACE resulting in my breaking out in red bumpy itchy burning hives all over my face making the acne look worse than it actually was. I am now on steroids for the infection along with an antibiotic for the acne (BACTRIM) which I have taken before and waiting for these to kick in as I’ve only been on them for a week. Moral of the story YAZ wrecked my face."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I've been on Yaz for 7 months now, and I am extremely happy with it. I was always a ravenous, aching, emotional mess before my period. It was hard for me to function, and when I was in uni since I could skip classes and lie in bed and cry. I couldn't do that when I started working though. Yaz now makes me a functional human being every day of the month, and even gave me clear skin and an increase in appetite as add-on rewards! The adjustment period was shitty for me because I breakthrough bled my way through my first three months on Yaz, had really bad mood swings that came without notice, and then had a two-week long period. After that period, though, my body has accepted Yaz as its own, and my life is stellar!"

For Acne "I went on Yaz to help with my hormonal acne. The first month on Yaz made my skin flare up horribly, if was the most painful thing ever. Dealing with it was very hard, it was painful and just horrible to look at. After 3 months my skin started to clear up like crazy! It use to be crazy bumpy with many pimples and now my skin is very smooth with less than 4 active pimples and I no longer am in pain. ACNE WILL GET SO MUCH WORSE BEFORE IT GETS BETTER. Please stick through it because I was one of those people who thought it wasn’t going to get better. Pros: skin eventually cleared up, weight stayed the same, my boobs grew a lot bigger (I went from a B to a C). I now have very light and short periods compared to before. I also barely get cramps anymore, and they aren’t very painful (they use to be horrible). It also is working as a contraceptive. Cons: my boobs were sore almost everyday but as the months went by it now feels normal."

For Acne "My doctor put me on Yaz for post-pill acne and said to try it for 3 months and see how I liked it. It made my skin TERRIBLE for the first 2 months. Extreme purging of acne on my chin and jaw. It also made me very emotional. I was so close to stopping taking it but I wanted to remain hopeful after the 3 month period, things would get better so I suffered through the purging. I’m just about to start month 4 and I have had no acne for the last 2 weeks and my skin is almost perfect. I’m stuck with some post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from the purging but concealer can cover it up while my vitamin C serum does its thing. My face feels so soft and completely clear as of right now and my period is so light with minimal cramping. My insurance covers almost the entire cost of it so I’ll stick with it for a while and see if it keeps my skin clear! Definitely worth a try if you’re willing to go through the purging for a while first month or two."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I got diagnosed with PMDD when I was 16 and I was put on YAZ the day my symptoms started to occur (ovulation) and it worked almost immediately and I haven’t had an issue since with pregnancy or PMDD. This medication does make me slightly nauseous and since taking it my appetite has changed a lot and some foods I once loved now repulse me but it’s manageable and way better than dealing with PMDD."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I started taking Yaz 6 months ago for Premenstrual tension syndrome. I think my PMS would last 2 weeks, lots of bloating, lots of acne and lots of moodiness and crying. Yaz has been life-changing for me. No more PMS, very little breakouts. No more gaining/losing 10lbs every month. I have lost 20lbs to date just because I don't have weird cravings, my energy level is back to normal and I am 5lbs from ideal BMI. I feel GREAT! I love Yaz and am so thankful my doctor."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "Around my 20s, I started having depression, rage, general apathy, and anxiety. It didn't occur to me for years that these symptoms were due to pmdd. I started taking yaz at 36, and I'm now 43, and have just stopped taking it due to mineral deficiencies detected while checking my bloodwork for something else. Yaz was working for me. No more horrible mood swings, my relationship is better, my skin cleared up. It was great! Now, I have anxiety attacks, depression, it's much easier to gain weight, and I now have increased blood pressure, and my pulse is elevated at rest. Yaz literally saved my life for years, but now, I'm taking natural supplements for mood/mental health, thyroid, and mineral support. Your heart is nothing to play with. If you are taking this for acne only, then don't. Yaz was designed for women who suffer from PMDD; if you don't already have it, then this particular pill may cause symptoms of it. I use proactive, and it works like a champ. Good luck to all of you and be well."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I began using Yaz 7 months ago on my mother and sisters recommendation (my sister also suffers from PMDD and has been taking Yaz for years). For the first few months, I saw a drastic improvement: my mood was better, my skin cleared up, my boobs got bigger etc. However, I have recently decided to come off of Yaz as I was starting to experience negative side effects, mainly the worsening of my mood. I was suffering from immense mood swings and a lot of the time feeling very depressed. My periods were becoming irregular (for example, coming before I had begun the sugar pills) and I also started suffering from severe headaches everyday. Now, every experience is different as my sister has had no trouble for years so I think it is worth a try, however, I strongly suggest you keep some sort of record of all the symptoms you are feeling and keep an eye out as it took me a while to realise things were going downhill again."

For Acne "I have been taking Yaz for about two months now. I stopped taking birth control about two years ago and started to break out with acne horribly. I was on the patch and gained about fifteen pounds. I lost all of that weight and now am 117lbs again. I was worried that I would gain weight after losing it so my dermatologist told me to use Yaz. Yaz has been wonderful. I have not broken out severely, maybe one or two on my chin. It is completely fabulous for acne and for birth control."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I started having PMDD when I was 24, I would be depressed and suicidal for 3 weeks every month, and I knew those feelings were not real so I try to fight it by exercising/yoga/massage/oils. After 3 years I finally decided to try birth control. I've read bad reviews about Yaz but it's what doctors recommend for PMDD. I decided to give it a shot. The first week I felt nauseous with migraines. But on the first month my suicidal idealisations are gone and I felt like I'm just having normal PMS. I'm starting my 3rd pack, and really happy with the results."

For Acne "I have tried everything from Proactive to Skin I.D to Murad and nothing has worked for my acne until I got on YAZ. However, don't be discouraged because it does take a couple weeks to months for your body to adjust to the hormones and essentially your skin may worsen. I was on the pill for about a year and literally never had to worry about a breakout. I got off for about 8 months and just started back on it a week ago because my skin started to get really bad again. My face is the worst I've ever seen it right now but I know sticking with it will be worth it. It is so hard dealing with acne and there are nights when I just cry to my mom because I don't even want to show my face in public. But trust me YAZ is worth the wait so stick it out."

I am taking the brand and forking over that $$$ every month. Fearful to take the generic and go through the symptoms again. Anyone else have good experiences with the generic Yaz?"

For Acne "Hey guys.... so I’ve written on here twice before. Once about 2 weeks after starting Yaz when I started to break out after having perfect skin (I’ve been on Accutane three times and my skin was finally perfect) and then again at the start of the second pack when things got better... or so I thought.. I’m on the third week of my third month so basically meaning that I’ve been taking Yaz for almost 3 months and man oh man my skin has been the worst it’s been while on Yaz this month. I have bumps all around my mouth and jaw which I understand is hormonal. The texture of my skin is oily and bumpy and it makes me super self conscious. I’m giving Yaz three more weeks and if I don’t see serious improvement I’m getting off of it and will try something else. Besides the acne I do like Yaz (no bloating, no weight gain, has helped with my period which is why I went on birth control in the first place) but I just want perfect skin again. Good luck everyone!"

For Acne "I have had acne for 5 years. Tried everything, topicals, antibiotics, not doing anything, diet changes...nothing worked. I was so sad and desperate and felt so ugly all the time. Then I finally gave in and tried Yaz. Almost immediately acne improved. A year later I never breakout anymore! It's so amazing and now I'm so much more happier and confident. And my hyper-pigmentation is finally having a chance to fade out without new ones popping up I had no side effects at all. This has turned my life around but its still a medicine that may have side effects, but it's worked for me so may work for you as well."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I suffered with PMDD for over 20 years, this included bad acne, terrible mood swings, recurring infections such as bladder and yeast, having to be bed ridden the entire week prior to my period, terrible joint pain and water retention. I had seen all types of doctors, given tests for diabetes to STDs-as they couldn't figure out what was ailing me. I had doctors recommend Prozac and large amounts of Ibuprofen...none of this helped. It was by luck, my doctor was not available and I saw a different physician that prescribed Yaz. I can honestly say this medicine has CHANGED MY LIFE. I feel like a new person and spent 20 years in pain. Thank you Yaz for giving me my life back--I LOVE THIS MEDICATION AND MY NEW LIFE!"
