For Inflammatory Conditions "I don't like reading these reviews because they are going to scare you out of taking what a licensed doctor has prescribed you. This medication saves lives sometimes. I have been struggling with panic disorder GAD & depression caused by anxiety for almost a year now & thank GOD I didn’t read the reviews until after because I probably wouldn’t have taken this for my extremely swollen tonsils - I almost couldn’t swallow & in 14hrs almost no swelling. The only side effect I got was I was a little irritable about 3 hours after taking two 4mg pills but I ate and it went away so I could have just been hangry & one black stool. These review pages are always gonna have extreme experiences because unfortunately that can happen but it’s RARE. Also no offence there are a lot of dramatic people out there (me being one & I was even fine) or people with other complications that point fingers. My mental health recovery got delayed almost a year because I freaked myself out from drugs.com reviews"

For Inflammatory Conditions "I was prescribed this because of multiple injuries in a car crash (Multiple disc herniations and other injuries), and the doc thought it'd help relieve the inflammation. The doc wanted me to take it for roughly a week, but I couldn't tolerate the side effects after 2.5 days, which I started feeling within hours of the first dose. I experienced sweating profusely around the clock, really bad suicidal thoughts, severe rage issues (I'm normally calm), severe dry mouth, increased inflammation, shortness of breath, heaviness in my chest, exhaustion, dizziness, weight gain, increased appetite, increased pains in the injured areas, no sleep for three days straight, extremely high anxiety with panic attacks, blurred and double vision, and an absolutely horrific headache that wouldn't go away even with ibuprofen. I also experienced crying fits and I'm not a crier. This medicine didn't help me at all. The brutal side effects I endured aren't worth taking it for me. If you have any sensitivity to them, I don't recommend taking this steroid."

Decadron (dexamethasone) for Asthma "I was given this med for asthma from a virus that my inhaled steroids weren’t helping with. I was given a one time dose of 10mg and though it worked for my breathing, the rest of my body is a mess. I have had severe elevated heart rate, high blood pressure, headache, rigor shakes, muscle spasms in the arms and legs, faintness, cold sweats, increased urination, severe exhaustion, muscle weakness, heart burn, increased anxiety, cloudy headedness, nausea, and an intolerance for anything physical beyond just walking. I am a fit 42 year old woman with no other health issues and this has been blowing my mind that I could get this sick. I did go to the ED and I was told that it can cause these symptoms. The worst part is that because it’s long acting it can take a week from your last dose for it to be cleared out. So I was told to rest and drink fluids until time passes. The good news is, I can breath. The bad news is, it has been a nightmare for the rest of my body."

Decadron (dexamethasone) for Inflammatory Conditions "Never take this drug. I am a healthy individual that had a bad experience with this drug. I Received one shot because I had the flu. 1 week later I had burning pains running all through my body. They gave me a shot in my butt and its still sore 2 sweeks later. I had trouble sleeping, couldn't breath at night and thought I was going crazy. My resting heart rate went from 49-58 beats a minute. I don't know what this drug does to the body but its not good. You have mood swings from anger, confusion, weakness, coordination etc..... Please ask the doctor what they are giving you before they inject you. It could do more harm than good later."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I just received a 10mg injection of this at the E.R. for a really bad sinus infection, laryngitis and an upper respiratory infection that I have had for over a month. The shot itself was extremely painful. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain, but this hurt for hours to the point where I couldn't sit down. The side effects began to kick in within an hour. I went from feeling calm and relaxed to feeling EXTREMELY anxious (No, I do not battle anxiety or depression). I felt jittery, I kept dropping things, and began crying from feeling so overwhelmed (not like me). I know it was this injection. My heart began racing very, very fast!! I don't think I will take this again."

Decadron (dexamethasone) for Inflammatory Conditions "I have disc issues. When the inflammation around these discs starts to put pressure on the nerves going to my feet and legs. A shot of this stuff is like gold. It looses it effect the longer you use it so save this as a last resort."

For Inflammatory Conditions "This is it. Tramadol 300 ER masked how your mind receives pain but, this DEXAMETHASONE 4mg completely erased that inflammation from my body (due to fibromyalgia). No side effects that I can tell. Feel so good that I'm almost afraid to do any activity."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Just finished a dexamethasone 8 day tapered dose for pain associated with a spinal cyst. It has given me my life back for those eight days, with the only side effect being wide awake at 3am. But at least I was wide awake without pain, as opposed to being wide awake and in pain. Hoping the effect lasts for a while, as I am on a three month wait list for surgery in "the best medical care system in the world", bwahaha."

Started this med, first day stiffness began leaving, energy boosted, took for one week and felt 40 years younger. Went from working in yard 3 hours a year to 30 in one week..... Keep some on hand to take a week here and there along with my MTX med for Arthritis."

For Addison's Disease "For ME - a life changer! After years (about 25) of hydrocortisone replacement therapy, I asked (implored) the endocrinologist, who conducted my annual review, if there was anything, anything at all that he could offer me to give me even a marginal 5% improvement on the quality of my life. His response was to suggest that we might try dexamethasone. (10 mg once daily) Almost immediately, I got MY life back and re-discovered the pleasure of waking up in the morning, eyes wide open, Previously I would have had to drag myself under the shower before becoming awake. The horrible fatigue was reduced massively and, since that day (about 8-10 years ago, I have enjoyed good health. I personally cannot identify any negative issues, though medical science may have reservations, which possibly explains why it isn't a predominant form of treatment."

Decadron (dexamethasone) for Allergic Rhinitis "This drug is terrible, I am an athlete/coach and have always been a very upbeat/motivated person. I got into a hornets nest and they gave me a shot of this instead of benadryl, I experienced weeks of the worst mood swings of my life, my heart stayed racing so hard I thought I was having a heart attack at times, and I dropped from 160lbs to 145lbs and couldn't stop eating anything in sight. Afterwards I experienced depression/fatigue beyond what I ever thought I could go through that took about 3 months to fully recover from. The migraines were terrible as well. I'm writing this because a friend just stopped by to ask about my experience, he had an allergic reaction and they gave him the same decadron shot. He went through almost identical symptoms. Try your best to avoid this stuff, the side effects aren't worth the benefits."

Decadron (dexamethasone) for Inflammatory Conditions "I have degenerative discs. I was given injections of Decadron near the area. Within a week I almost went crazy!! Felt like I was running for my life all the time. The doctors have no clue what this does to your brain, nor how to reverse its affects. Do not take this."

For Asthma "I was in Mexico last year and developed a severe upper respiratory infection, never felt sicker in my life. Doc came to hotel, prescribed antibiotics and said "you can feel better in 7 days or I can give you a shot and you will feel better in 30 minutes". The shot was dexamethasone (don't know the dose) and my partner who is a doctor, told me it was ok (along with first shot of antibiotic and continued oral antibiotics for 7 days). I took the shot and in exactly 30 minutes I felt fantastic, I couldn't believe it. Next day was great as well. I did have a bit of a jittery come down a couple of days later but the worst of my original symptoms were already much better and I was well on road to recovery. Overall it was a very helpful one-time shot that got me through."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I got an injection of this in my arm yesterday for a sinus infection that was aggravating my asthma. I got zero sleep last night, but normally suffer from insomnia anyway, so not unexpected. The shot also burned for about 15 minutes. Those were my only side effects. But not only is my breathing much better, I was shocked to wake up this morning with significant decrease to my normal fibromyalgia pain! I have tried all the usual fibromyalgia drugs and none helped at all. For the first time in 25 years, my hands don’t hurt. My recent back pain is also gone. If I see no other side effects over the next week, I will look into this long term."

Decadron (dexamethasone) for Allergic Rhinitis "This drug was given to me for an anaphylaxis reaction I had from an antibiotic. I was admitted so It was given IV then by mouth to wean. I am a nurse and was blown away! I was put in drug induced psychosis on this med. I was on it about 3 weeks from 6mg down to 1mg. I was 302 initiated at the nearest ER. I passed out from sleep deprivation and thus drug changed my life for good. It's not worth It! It mimicked bipolar symptoms. I NEVER had this before! BEWARE!"

For Inflammatory Conditions "I had spinal stenosis . Severe nerve pain stemming from neck , pain killers do not work on this sort of thing . I went from severe pain to normal within an hour. 4 mg daily for a week . After my prescription ran out that last week , the pain returned and I couldn't get the doctor to give me more , so I had surgery in PA . They were amazing ! They fixed my spine , however , the pain was off the charts after and I didn't understand why I had to fight to get this amazing drug! Over the weekend I had to be rushed to the hospital due to severe pain from my surgery and swelling. I begged for this medicine . Gave me a shot , relief ! Ahhh I love this drug. It's works like no other"

For Cerebral Edema "I was put Dexamethasone to treat Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis aka blood clots in my brain. It was prescribed to reduce inflammation in my brain. I was put on such a high dose that I shook like a leaf in the wind. I felt like I was jittering inside of my body. I took my doses 4 times a day for 8+ weeks before we began to taper down from the stuff. I was on it for 12 weeks in total. I ended up putting on 80 pounds of water weight. My face was so swollen that I couldn't see more than a foot in front of me through my blurry slits for eyes. I slept maybe 3-4 hours a night if I was lucky. I dripped with the cold sweats, literally. I ended up on water pills, along with 9 other medications. It took at least 6 months, and out patient therapy to recover from depression side effects. My body has never fully recovered from this medication. I have had issues including a buffalo hump and some bone loss. Spare yourself the pain and trauma."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Amazed! Went to the doctor with a extremely sore inflamed throat to the point at times I was hardly getting air without a coughing fit was not getting much sleep. Hardly any voice, very painful to talk extreme red almost blotchy throat, felt like breathing through a straw. Swollen lymph nodes face/neck/&throat and fluid behind my ears, high fever ect. Strep tested negative. Doctor prescribed 10MG, so it was 2 and a half pills that I took all at once only once. Within 4.5 hours my throat was opening up and my voice was getting better by the second, I could breathe properly and talk again. Never has anything I've taken worked that dramatically that fast. No side major effects, still have a bit of a cough but I can deal with that!"

"Received 10mg dose of dexamethasone for a minor burn. It's been four days and the side effects are still going strong. Muscle twitches and weakness, shortness of breath, burning feet and hands (not from my burn-that was on my face), anxiety, insomnia, feeling cold, and difficulty talking. The muscle weakness is pretty severe and its hard to walk. Stay away from this med!"

Dexamethasone Intensol (dexamethasone) for Inflammatory Conditions "taking wean down dosage over six days after being treated for Quincy abscess of a tonsil. The drug relieved the pain so that I was able to talk and swallow again within 8 hours of injection IV. Out of the hospital by a day on the wean down pills I notice former inflammation of bursitis of hip, knee and golfers elbow are being relieved also. The only adverse side effect I now notice is near insomnia but I feel so well again and energetic. 3 days on the drug now and will end by taper down in 4 more days. 1.5mg pills at first two at a time twice per day."
