For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I started having severe back pain two months and one day ago. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis, prescribed a medical belt, pain killer (paracetamol) and two other medicines by the doctor. One of the medicine I was prescribed had a warning that it could induce a heart attack. I stopped taking that one after two days as I reckoned it wasn't worth the risk. I took the other one (one to relax the muscles). At the end of one month the medicine was at an end and I still had mobility problems and the pain. I then came across devils claw, from an article in the Daily Telegraph. It was used to treat arthritis in elephants at London zoo apparently. I went to see my local pharmacist who told me her boss used it to treat arthritis for his pet dog. I bought three packets immediately. Today, the pain has gone and I can walk perfectly normally. I am saving the other two packets of devil's claw in case it comes back."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have been using Devil's Claw off and on for 20 years with no side effects. I do take breaks from it, but I will take breaks from all herbal supplements in order to not build up toxicity. Devil's Claw is the best anti-inflammatory I have used. I also use Turmeric and I often switch between the two. Devil's Claw is best used in combination with Passion Flower (not Passion Fruit, but the Flower). I have been given medication for my Rheumatoid Arthritis, and one of the side effects is death. I saw that and said "No thank you." If it isn't broke, why fix it? I'll take the Devil's Claw. Thanks."

For Herbal Supplementation "I started taking the recommended dosage of Devil's Claw on a Saturday for my back pain and by Thursday I had blood in my urine....it did help the back pain within 8 hours.....I stopped taking it and 3 days later the bloody urine stopped... I don't see many sites that claim this is a side effect but some do....it is very scary to see blood in your urine....your mind thinks cancer immediately...."

For Herbal Supplementation "I'm on week 2 of an L5 S1 disc re-herniation that first occurred 2.5 years ago. I'd lost 18% of my body weight, primarily in muscle mass because I opted to stay still as possible; the bedrest caused my muscle atrophy. Since that lowered my weight, it was less weight for my spine to support and that was the major reason I healed then. Now I know this time around that walking and stretching and other kinds of flexion are the way for me. No matter how incapacitating it feels, easy does it with light walking and household chores (no weights or wild exercise), taking frequent breaks to stretch out piriformis while lying on my back. I can't take aspirin or ibuprofen, so I tried white willow bark even though I was nervous about its similarly derived ingredients; I stopped it after 2 days (not an adequate amount of time, but I'm desperate for pain relief). However, the devil's claw I purchased and have been using for a week and a half 3 x day 512mg has been monumentally helpful. I'm hopeful."
