Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: Anafranil completely rid me of OCD for the first time in my life. No other medication was as effective. I recommend anyone with severe OCD at least give Anafranil a try.

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: From reading the medical literature this is probably the most efective treatment for obsessive compulsive disorder but the side effects led me to change, after a year of use, to a less taxing medication. The weight gain was too much and it made me more confrontational with others. But for bringing my initial problem down to a manageable level before switching, Anafrinil was a life saver.

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: After taking this medicine, I woke up one morning to realize that I felt connected to the world and when I started to do my rituals, I realized that I just didn't need to. Amazing. The problem was that I gained 40 pounds, and the high dosage necessary (over 200) scared me. I would recommend that a person try it and see if a lower dosage will work for them. If so, it's a miracle.

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: It's the only medicine that worked for my OCD and I have tried almost all of them.

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: Works well for OCD, wonderful for body pain, and moderate for depression (it takes 6-8 weeks for me to see any effect) but the side effects are not pleasant - dry mouth, fatigue, drowsiness, difficulty concentrating and anorgasmia.

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome: Before taking Anafranil I had severe episode of Irritable Bowel Syndrome diarrhea. I had anxiety which gave me diarrhea. And that fear of diarrhea gave me anxiety. It was a vicious circle. I even had an "accident". I was prescribed Anafranil (75mg then I lowered the dose to 50mg) and it was definitely a life-saver. No more anxiety and no more diarrhea. I could eat everything I want. I was able to go on vacation, have a girlfriend, go the mall, go to parties, have a normal teenage life and not wondering every time if there is a bathroom near. For sure there are some typical tricyclic antidepressant side effects but I prefer to have it than having anxiety and diarrhea. You have to make a choice and find the right dosage for you.

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: Ever since I was ten years old I have had obtrusive images of inflicting pain/suffering on myself and others. These images create emotional turmoil in life, because obviously I don't want these thoughts. I've tried different medications, yet Anafranil seemed to work the best. My obtrusive thoughts went away almost completely (granted I was on the highest dose). However, Anafranil had consequences: It gave me irregular heartbeats, and heart palpitations to the point where I felt like I was having a heart attack. I had to wean off the medication because of this. This was distressing to me because Anafranil made me emotionally feel like a million bucks, but physically made me feel dumpy.

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: Anafranil saved my life. The side effects are not pleasant, but not having the intrusive thoughts is well worth the effort! I am scared of long term effects, but my fears are lessened by the effectiveness of Anafranil for OCD.

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: My son is 14 and has suffered with OCD for 2 years. Lexapro made him a happier obsessive with extreme gas but OCD symptoms no better. Anafranil has been great. Has fewer obsessions with less anxiety. It's an older drug you have to ask for.

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: I've been using Anafranil for 6 years. It has helped me a lot. On occasion I still struggle with obsessive thoughts but have been able to bring it under control both times by myself. I rated this an 8 because of dry mouth and constipation problems. Eat your fiber big time. After several years, the dry mouth problem got better and only returns when I'm under stress. I sleep well on this drug and did not sleep as well on the SSRIs.

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: My obsessive compulsive disorder has improved significantly. It has also helped with depression but I just up my doses from 150mg to 225mg to see if I can get more of an antidepressant effect. Almost no side effect. I take it in the morning and I do not feel sleepy. Anger and irritability has improved as well significantly. For those who share in the future let me know how much you take please. It helps.

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Panic Disorder: Outstanding medication for obsessive compulsive stress disorder, Panic, Agoraphobia. I have been on this medicine for 15 years and it has eliminated my panic attacks, anxiety and am able to leave the house without fear. Side effects include rapid heart rate, dry mouth and sexual dysfunction and hypotension. I take Anafranil at night. There is absolutely no weight gain, in fact I lost 50lbs. I did switch to Zoloft with no success and am back on Anafranil. There were no withdrawal symptoms when tapered off. This is one of the best meds in the TCA class and works better than the new SSRIs for me.

clomipramine for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: Clomipramine is amazing. It did wonders for my OCD, depression, and anxiety but I gained 50 pounds, quickly. I was so excited at first. I've always had an extremely hard time keeping weight on and was way to thin in my last bout of severe depression before starting medicines again, but it went to far. I've recently gotten off of it, feeling a little worse but managing and the weight is coming off. Now I worry I'll go back to being as thin as I was, hopefully not. Overall, an amazing medication especially taken together with Luvox, if you don't get the side affects.

clomipramine for Panic Disorder: I suffered with panic attacks, depression and obsessive compulsive disorder for many years. Finally, I tried Anafranil (only 25 mg) and it was my miracle. I have been on it for almost 30 years. I have not suffered any side effects and have not had to increase the dosage. I HIGHLY recommend suggesting this medicine to your doctor if you have any of the problems. This literally saved my life.

clomipramine for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: We have tried EVERYTHING to deal with the obsessive compulsive disorder that goes along with the Tourettes and this has been our Savior. The OCD is not as debilitating as it once was. This has given our son back his personality and is making dealing with life a little easier. No more obtrusive thoughts and no real side effects. The older tried and tested drugs are definitely the ones more doctors should look at first. ( Tics have not been aggravated at all).

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: After three years on different anti psychotics, I started taking this finally to some releif. I have been taking it now for about six months. It is still working well for obsessing, but the side effects are starting to add up. I have steadily gained weight. Severe dry mouth at first, not so bad now though. Total anorgasmia fixed by Viagra, and uncontrolled twitching. It sounds bad when I write it down but compared to the antipsychotics it's much better. I still feel better than I have and so much happier.

clomipramine for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: This medicine worked wonders; I was not as paranoid as before, and was able to eat something that had fallen on the counter and things like that (before, I wouldn't have dared). It also made my depression evaporate. Unfortunately, it also caused intense hunger, in turn causing weight gain, and gave me headaches, made me hydrated, and caused frequent urination on the flip side. I'd still recommend this medicine. I'm sad it didn't work out for me because it was really great.

I really wanted this medicine to work. And it helped with depression and maybe even started to help with my OCD but I felt thirsty all the time, which made me nauseated, have a headache, and really sleepy. It also made me have to pee every 20 minutes for some strange reason. I had to get off of it and those bad side effects disappeared once I was off.

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Panic Disorder: I had a bad weekend and couldn't control my emotions when on Librium alone. But with Geodon, a medication I've been experiencing serious side effects with, I am a lot calmer. So basically, it works but with something extra.

Anafranil (clomipramine) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: After trying a few different medicines (with no benefits) my doctor pulled out the big guns and gave me Clomipramine. I have severe OCD but the purely obsessional (intrusive thoughts). I used to be a checker and handwasher though. I took it for over 1 year, Unfortunately Clomipromine did nothing for me on 250 mg, which is pretty much the highest dose you can take. I did not have alot of side effects except dry mouth when I was on it. I quit taking it after I ran out on a holiday weekend and saw the withdrawal symptoms, severe nausea. And even when tapering slowly off it over the course of months I still had terrible withdrawals (vomiting and nausea).
