For ADHD "I tried Wellbutrin XL 300mg per day because I was worried about long term side effects of Adderall. It's been 2 months and so far so good. I'm not as focused but still pretty close. Only down fall is I can't fall asleep as well as I did with Adderall and I urinate like crazy. But I say the risks and side effects are less than with Adderall. I am happy this worked. After years of amphetamine type medicines I thought I was stuck. But this medicine is great. I hope it continues to work. Some background , I have had ADHD since childhood and now am in my thirties. I work full time as an NP, wife and mother of 3. As a medical provider I am greatly appreciative of this medicine, with less long term adverse side effects."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I was taken off Prozac in March 2022 and instead, placed on a mood stabilizer, hoping that I wouldn't need an antidepressant anymore. However, things went terribly wrong, and I developed a binge eating disorder (BED), which only made my depression worse. I had been overweight my whole life until around 8th grade when I was first placed on an antidepressant, and I stayed skinny until I was taken off. Gaining the weight brought back bad memories, and I could barely look at myself in the mirror. My doctor prescribed Wellbutrin, hoping it would help with my depression and BED. The moral of the story is that I've lost 20 lbs, and I'm still losing! I've been on Wellbutrin for around 4 months, and I've never been happier with a medication. Although my BED has pretty much been cured, it's still hard for me to look in the mirror, but I'm getting there with the help of Wellbutrin!"

Wellbutrin SR (bupropion) for Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on Wellbutrin SR almost since it was available for use by the FDA. I started on the starter dose of 100mg Wellbutrin SR. I felt much better. Then my MD wanted me to try the next size increase, so I did. I had a bad reaction of paranoia, so I went back down to my starting dose. I have been on that dose ever since. With this medication I went from sleeping 14-18 hours, thinking nonstop about everything negative, to sleeping an average of 8 hrs with NO ruminating about negative thoughts. I went back to school and became an RN. I am an example of a huge success story on Wellbutrin. Before I started on Wellbutrin, I had tried all the other antidepressants on the market, with no success."

For Anxiety "I've been taking Wellbutrin for PTSD/MDD/Anxiety for almost 5 weeks, and man has it been wild. I've lost 10 pounds, I'm feeling more confident, and I'm happier overall. I can't wait to see what happens at 3 months! I had no idea it was used for appetite reduction, so I was concerned at first, but it's nice! No more grazing or overeating. It also helps with libido. I literally did not have one for years. I was taking Prozac. Now I'm 24 and actually have one. I would recommend this to anyone! :)"

Wellbutrin SR (bupropion) for Depression "Wow! I have been taking Wellbutrin SR 150 mg. for one week ( started October 15,2016) then 2nd week taking 150 mgs at 12:00. I have never taken any medication for my mild depression, easily agitated, sweating the small stuff, slightly obese (209 lbs), too tired after work to play with the kids diagnosis. Then, OMG, my life is forever changed. In my second week on Wellbutrin SR 150 mg twice per day, I down to 203 lbs.,I didn't realize how much agitation and sadness I was trying to manage on my own, I am a lot calmer when stressful situations arise, play with my kids & exercise. I feel like there is always a song in my heart. Unless, somebody does something really STUPID to PISS me off! But even then, I can forgive faster! God, I'm happy"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I began taking Bupropion last week and began to notice its effect pretty quickly. The dry mouth side effect has been persistent but it weakens after a few days. It’s ability to suppress my appetite is quite powerful. For a long time I’ve relied on food as a coping mechanism for a variety of reasons, but this medication has quickly done away with my constant feeling of needing to eat or be full. It’s to the point where I almost forget to eat. This has begun to reflect on the scale. I’m down a few pounds in a few days and I expect I’ll continue to lose weight. One example of my experience is that I ate quite a heavy lunch the day of my writing this review and I have had no interest in food since then. This is not typical. I would have found myself hungry at some point in the evening. So it seems to also collaborate with food already in the body to keep binge eating from happening. Overall I am quite pleased with this medication."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Are you people serious? I’ve only gained weight . . . Like 40 lbs. sometimes I think it’s completely inhibiting any chance of losing weight. But afraid to go off because it helps my motivation so much. If I don’t take it, my house looks like a bomb hit."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "I was deeply depressed. I slept a lot, I lost interest in work (and I am self-employed). I suffered from chronic procrastination, lost many clients and went to trouble with my bank, an awful period. I tried SSRIs like sertraline and Lexapro but it didn't help me rise up and boost my motivation. Since I have discovered after 50 years that I am also suffering from ADD. I read about Wellbutrin. I tried 150 mg with no significant change for a month, and then, switch to 300 mg. What a change! I am full of energy, focused, full of self confidence, working full hours, and enjoy writing. "

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) for Depression "My experience with SSRIs have been terrible. I've been on Cipralex and Sertraline and they haven't worked at all. My doctor was really excited for me to try this one and I finally caved. The first few days were normal and the side effects were minimal (dry mouth, constipation, low appetite, a bit of drowsiness) but that all was manageable and went away pretty quickly. By the 9th day, I woke up and I just knew something was different. It's like my eyes were open and I had my life back. Having had depression for about a year, I always felt this grey cloud and weight constantly taking over my body and life. By the 7th week, mood + motivation was wonderfully back. I have my life back. Please try this if you can."

For ADHD "If only I had this as a teenager and young adult. No telling where I might be by now. At 50, this has changed so much for me. I'm focused, I've begun organizing and cleaning my home. I'm taking care of myself more. I have a more positive attitude and less anger. There's still a long way to go, but this could change my later years for the better."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) for Depression "I have taken Wellbutrin on and off again over several years. I suffer mostly from seasonal depression. I just started taking it again having been off of it for a year. The results have been great. I immediately felt better. I really just need to take this consistently. It’s help also relieve my anxiety, given me a lot of energy, helps me focus, gives me a positive outlook, and confidence. Also gives me what I call a burst of happiness. A huge difference on the first day."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) for Depression "I'm late 40s, female, married with kids. My doc cycled me through just about every antidepressant out there (and no generics either, just the straight stuff) but they all killed my libido stone dead. Then we got to Wellbutrin XL, 150 then 300mg/day. I noticed the new, improved sexy me within the first week. Honestly I have never been this quick or easy to satisfy... husband and I both love it. He adores pleasing and on this drug, I just about wear him out. 3-4 times a week which is 3-4 times better than before! I also have lost a lot of appetite since going on Wellbutrin XL, created some unexpected weight loss. I can see where this works for weight loss or quitting bad habits. I don't crave anything now... except sex, lol. It doesn't do much for anxiety, but works well for the depressive component. For anxiety the best for me was Pristiq, but that was a libido-killer. No anti-depression drug is perfect for everyone. This worked the best for me, though."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "I had Bipolar Disorder with depression and psychotic symptoms. I was put on Ability 15mg but I got Tardive Dyskinesia. The dosage was lowered to 10mg and then 5mg. I stopped with the psychotic symptoms immediately. But I was still depressed and not enjoying my life. So they added 150 mg Extended Release Wellbutrin and I got much better. I felt a little nauseous when I first started taking it but that stopped a few months into treatment. I still was requiring daily 1 to 2 hour naps to get through my day. Then my medicine was increased to Wellbutrin 150MG SR two times a day. Finally I felt like myself again. I had energy and felt like I could take on all my responsibilities again. It worked beautifully with Abilify for me. Hope it works for you!"

Zyban (bupropion) for Smoking Cessation "I used Zyban as prescribed in 2001 and quit for 15 years until 2016 when both parents passed away which I hit the hardest difficult time of my life. I tried hard to quit but its been 4 years and now its June 2020. Today I picked up my new prescription starting in the next couple of days and I'm going to beat this habit for a long time. All I wanted to say, the med works like a miracle. The 1st day, I had a small urge to lit up a cigarette and after puffing for couple of minutes, the taste was unbearable. Had no side-effects and loved the feeling of not being drawn to smoking every 10 min. Its one of the best meds out there to stop smoking but depending on your body chemistry, tolerance and nicotine withdrawal. Definitely worth taking it to get your life back to normal."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "This medicine saved my life. I have been on 300 mg for a few months now and I feel like me again! A couple years ago my son was diagnosed with cancer, he beat it, but the fight left me as an empty shell. I didn’t even realize how bad I was struggling just to make it through the day. When I first started Wellbutrin, I thought I had made a mistake, but my husband and I agreed that it would be best to give it a chance. After about 4-5 weeks, everything suddenly seemed better. I have energy, I’m sleeping well, I wake up early and feel rested, my libido is back, and I lost about 10lbs of the weight I put on while my son was sick. I am not just feeling better, I am genuinely enjoying my life. I’m happy, my husband is happy, and life is good. I’m so glad I stuck with it."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) for Depression "I was given Wellbutrin XL in addition to Zoloft to help treat depression and help with ADHD. It took me a good 4 weeks of regular use to make a decision if I was happy with it or not. I almost quit a week in, 2 weeks, 3 weeks in because I was feeling numb. I had to make myself laugh. I was boring to be around. But then literally one morning about a month into it, I noticed immediately. I was motivated, hopeful, focused, could think clearly. I could hear myself thinking. And actively planning and executing. I thought maybe for a few days I was just having good days but it's been like this ever since. Sure, I still have low days or not so great weeks but that's being human and I can get through it. Overall, I'm so glad I stick with it. Please note that I did not have suicidal thoughts or was in a deep low spot. I was just, numb. So don't think I dealt with suicidal thoughts and pushed through it. Please talk to your Dr if you feel lower after beginning the med."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "My doctor prescribed both Bupropion and Naltrexone for weight loss. I got the Bupropion first and started on it. It worked so well, I did not add the Naltexone until several months later. Day one, my cravings disappeared. It wasn't anything I actually "felt". It was just that I got snacks and forgot to eat them. After 10 months, I have lost 77lb and have had the added benefit of quitting a Diet Coke addiction. I added the Naltrexone after losing about 35lb because I was finding it harder to stop eating once I started. The Naltrexone has had some side effects. Some nausea, but I just cut the dosage and it went away. Also sciatic nerve pain. I still take some Naltrexone and as long as I don't take it more than about 3 days in a row before taking a break, it doesn't cause problems and helps me stop eating before I'm too full. I take the Bupropion every day with no side effects. I still have about 60lb to lose. If I still need it, though, I can and will take it. I want this weight gone for life."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Depression "I have suffered with anxiety and depression since I was around 16 years old..I am 32 now and I have tried many different antidepressants none of which really helped until I was put on wellbutrin about a year ago. It took a little while of me taking it before I really noticed a difference, but I stuck with it and I am so happy I did. I have completely given up smoking cigarettes (have been smoking regularly since 18) and it has saved my marriage...my mood has changed completely! I feel so thankful for life now and I look forward to the future. Wellbutrin saved my life."

For Smoking Cessation "I smoked for 20 years and I quit smoking 4 years ago on Bupropion HCL XL 150mg once a day. I quit smoking after 3 days of taking it, cigarettes tasted gross and made me nauseous. All of my cravings stopped. I continued to take the bupropion for 2 weeks total. I did experience some anxiety but that could have been from nicotine withdrawals. Unfortunately, I have started smoking again snd at first I didn’t even like it, I kept smoking until I did like it again and now I’m hooked. I let everything that’s going on in the world right now with quarantining etc. stress me out to the point that I said forget it and bought a pack of cigarettes 4 months ago. I went back to the doctor yesterday and I’m starting Bupropion HCL XL 150mg again tomorrow. I’m embarrassed and disappointed in myself but I know I will be quit again in just a few days. This drug is a miracle drug and I’m thankful for it. I vow to never pick up a cigarette again for the rest of my life!"

Wellbutrin (bupropion) for Major Depressive Disorder "I really did not intend to review wellbutrin...just curious what other people said...but so much "neg" I felt I had to speak. I've been on it for 29 YEARS! I had been seriously depressed for a few months..my therapist was a moron for waiting three months to send me to a Psych! I was told it would take at least 2 weeks to be really effective...for me it was day 17. I woke up and when I first looked in the mirror(gut check time) I didn't say to myself "wow I feel better" I said "omg is this what normal people feel like when they wake up in the morning?" For all practical purposes that was like my actual birthday...the day I became a fully functioning human. I'm lucky, it works and it keeps working."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) for Depression "This medication has changed my life. I have been on Wellbutrin XL 150mg for 3 months. From being completely reserved and unable to motivate myself to socially interact, I am now willing and able to easily socialise. I have lost close to 10kg in this time as well. I also had debilitating anxiety and paranoia which are just no longer featuring in my daily life. I am able to exercise and workout with excitement and enjoyment again and find it hard to imagine how bad my coping skills were before this med. it also increased my mental alertness and ultimately my confidence. No side effects, doesn't even feel like you are taking medication."

It is definitely not the same as adderall (you don’t feel the effects immediately) but it is certainly effective.
