For Chronic Pain "Patch worked great at first. Now I'm on the 20mcg and the itching is killing me. Now I am having a hard time urinating after being on this patch for over 3 years. Guess I will have to be in pain again. Don't get me wrong at first this was amazing but it's just not giving me the relief I need. Had to start using more breakthrough meds."

For Pain "It works pretty well for me until it starts to wear off on the 5-7th day. I think there should be 5 patches given a month instead of 4 per 28 days. Or the manufacturer needs to improve the quality and lasting power of each patch. I do have to admit without this medication, i would be unable to have a normal life. My pain level would be about an 8 on average without it, and thank goodness I was referred to my doctor by my orthopedic surgeon. I occasionally have a little itch under the patch when it gets wet. I hate that it is not more waterproof. I believe this is part of the reason they lose their strength. I do have Norco to supplement my pain relief, but if the patches would hold their potency, i wouldn't have to use the Norco."

For Chronic Pain "I have suffered with RA from the age of 5 so for 45 years of pain. I am starting at the lowest dose with good results and limited side effects. Will probably need to incr. dose at next visit. But finally have some hope for a pain free day."

For Chronic Pain "I have been on the patches for about four months and they really help. I have mild itching at the site and have little or no side effects. Sometimes I have a little dizziness. This may be due to the initial application being a little stronger upon the initial application. They are costly so ask your doctor for a discount card."

For Chronic Pain "Injured at work as an RN and had a spinal fusion with scar tissue issues. Butrans is awesome. Change the patch once a week-- no need for constant pill popping. Butrans makes the pain tolerable and I can forget about when I took the last pill and if I have taken too many. Pain is well controlled. Have decreased the patch from 10 to 7.5 and doing well."

For Pain "I want to update since May 2015. It has been 6 months. I will say YES the pain patch works if your tolerant and give it time and have the correct dose. It does stay on it you folow directions and bathe correct. What I hate is I can't get in the sun. I live in Florida. I cant swim or it will start peeling they are not cheap. It has restricted my work outs. I have no more interest in it not sure why. I'm about to pick up my last box. I' going to slow the use of them by cutting them over time. I just put on my last patch for this box. Im going to wear it for 14 days not 7. Then I'm going to cut the next patch in 2 wear it 7 days and then the other 1/2 14 days. then the 3rd patch in 3. The same with 4th. I have tramadol if need be."

For Pain "I have been on the Butrans Patch (20) for three weeks. The results have exceeded my hopes after years of enduring chronic pain related to Fibromyalgia. The relentless pain in my neck and back while sleeping has been reduced at least 90%. I am able to make my bed, bathe, cook and do laundry most days. I am more tired than normal, which is probably attributed to my increase in activity each day. The negatives so far include moderate agitation and mild itching and irritation at the location site."

For Chronic Pain "After reading the reviews I am scared to take these patches , my first worry I told the pharmacist was it falling off and possibly getting into the hands of my grandkids and she assured me it won't Reviews say different ...with all the negative reviews I think I will suck up this broken rib ..."

For Pain "I've been using this patch for 2 and a half months. It helps my pain a little but I feel that this stuff is a joke. I started at the 5mcg dose and am now on the 15mcg dose. My pain management doctor refuses to try something else. I stay nauseated and constipated. I get rash and blistering at the patch sites as well. It's all the bad side effects of pain medicine without the benefit of helping pain. The only good part is that it weakens considerably after 2-3 days so I get to eat some. It's worthless as a pain reliever for me."

For Chronic Pain "fibromyalgia for 16 yrs, also have ostelarthritis. so much pain, I was given 5 norco , 4 soma daily. worked for pain, but wore off at night. would wake in severe pain and mild withdrawals, norco only lasts 4-6 hours. Was given butrans 10 mgs, upped to 15mgs in 1-2 months. Woke up with no pain, at first!! was allowed 3 norco, 3 soma for breakthrough. patches wore off often on day 5-6. after 18 mo. wake in pain again. breakthrough meds not sufficient. Have gained 30 lbs, I sweat until my clothes are drenched with slightest exertion. I wake 2-3 times nightly, I am exhausted all day. Sleep for 2-3 hours after kids go to school. side effects seem to have become more of a problem, and pain relief has lessened. hard to keep patches on."

For Chronic Pain "I have had spinal fusion, done with 6 discs herniated and a fractured vertebrae and a spinal stimulator put in and about 36 injections but was never a pain med. person until I could not walk. So I broke down and took the lightest dose of percocet 5mg. It worked for me but after surgery the pain was really really bad. so the Dr. started me on butrans 5mg but it didn't not do anything, so went to the 15mg but got very very sick, sluggish unmotivated just felt lousy BUT got rid of the pain. I have gone back down to the 10mg and stayed on that for a bout 6-8 months but I have just got tired of feeling lousy, and sluggish, so I went to the percocet 10mg as I need them and I have found what works for me. I hope it helped out."

For Chronic Pain "Came back to update my experience with the butrans patch since my last review. I was on 10mcg now on 15 mcg, which was a rough time increasing. I was sick for about 2 weeks and had 2 ambulance ER visits with anxiety atttacks and vitals all over the place. A couple thingz. the pain is not all gone, it's stable but still there. I have still taken less tramadol and of course stopped the gabentin due to water weight, but I take a water pill also as I have gained about 20 pounds in the 4 months I started the patch (yes 20 pounds :/ ) I now eat nothing but yogurt, meat, raw veggies and protein bars and my weight won't budge :( in addition I wake up all night every night like clock work several times a night every 2-3 hrs. BEWARE"

For Chronic Pain "I had a series of heart surgeries two years ago due to constrictive viral and then bacterial pericarditis. I have fibrous muscles in my chest from the pressure of up to two liters of extra fluid inside my pericardium multiple times and then not healing properly after the surgeries. I have been in a lot of pain for the last two years. When I first took the patch I was shocked at how well it alleviated my pain, I was only on 5mcg/h, the smallest patch, and it worked wonders for me. At least for a while. After 6 months we have decided to stop the patch due to what seems to be opioid induced pain increases due to the mental effects of the drug. As well as some serious and stubborn constipation due to the opioid."

For Chronic Pain "I became unconcious, and some how showed positive for cocaine. Don't really understand how this can happen. I've never taken "street drugs". As a result of the false positive I can't even get any Meds. The Drs. Are running so scared with all this miss use of pain killers, that they won't give it to the ones that need it."

For Chronic Pain "I've been on Butrans 10 mcg since July. Today I noticed that my shirt, right where I had the patch was wet. I checked the patch and I could see a liquid seeping from the patch. With today being Saturday, I couldn't reach my doctor, so I got ready and went to the pharmacy. I guess the way I was feeling could be described as being extremely "high" and very jittery! Also my head hurt and I was nauseous! The pharmacist told me to remove the patch right away, and she gave me a piece of paper to stick it on and a zipper bag to close it up in. She said I was getting the full week long dose all at once, so I was in jeopardy of overdosing, if I wouldn't have caught it sooner! i don't know if I want to put another one on!"

For Pain "I increased from 5mg to 10mg of butrans patch 3 days ago. My pain has eased quite a bit. However I'm getting this weird buzzing noises constantly in my head it increases when I blink to. Feels weird and irritating to. Wondering if this is anything to worry about. Feel really lightheaded and drowsy."

For Chronic Pain "I have suffered back, knee and foot pain for years after two failed back surgeries. Finally given Butran patches and the relief was terrific. Here is the problem that led to me having to stop the treatment. The release of the medication in the patch is accelerated by heat and perspiration and I was overdosing myself by being to active. Even the sun on my shirt caused an overdose."

For Pain "I love my Butrans patch!!! And it has relieved more than half of my pain, and I know this because I only have to take less than half of my pain killers now that I am on the patch! I change my patch every Saturday, but if I miss 24 hours my pain starts to reside again. If you are not a heavy drinker I would advise trying this patch!!!"

For Chronic Pain "After 20 yrs of tension-migraines, 10 years of fibromyalgia and an SI sprain to the left hip, I thought I'd never know normal again. I can fake being well enough to make others comfortable, but I rarely am. Butrans was prescribed 3 months ago and my constant inconsistent days of pain from 3-9 varying on weather, mood, stress, exercise etc. is finally becoming more stable! The lows are gone. The higher peaks are 6-7 now and more rare. I'm on 15mcg/hr every 7 days. Slight itching at patch site but with proper skin prep and rotation I've had no other issues. This med, and low dose percocet ave given me my life back! Constipation has been my only side effect, but it is nothing compared to what I've lived with for so long."

For Chronic Pain "It makes the pain bearable. Little side effects and easy to use since it is changed only once weekly. It makes my fibromyalgia manageable."

For Chronic Pain "I have been dealing w chronic pain since a lower back injury took place in 2003. I was injured again in 2013 which left me numb in both arms and legs. I have been on pain medication for 12 long years and has taken it's toll in every part of my life. I have gone without, taken too much, stopped cold turkey. I have been on 50 mg of fentanyl, 12 mg diluadin, 15 mg Valium, 80 mg norco, 80 mg Percocet, basically everything under the sun. I have tried subtext and suboxen to help stop. I will now try this to see how it goes. No I'm not a junky. I do suffer from more injuries and have had more surgeries than wish to type out. I never thought I would go down this evil path of drugs to help me live a so called "normal life". We will see what happens next,"

For Pain "I just started this yesterday, so I will continue to update on it. My low score doesn't indicate that it isn't working for me, just that is not yet had a chance to. So far though I have been up the entire night itching. Not at the application Site, but all over just like I do when I'm coming down from morphine, or other anesthesia after surgery. I hope that this passes because I'm very optimistic that this will work for me. My doctor just switched me to Butrans yesterday to replace Norco and baclofen because my breakthrough pain was just getting so frequent and so severe that the other drugs were worthless. Reading everybody else's stories though makes me feel very optimistic about Butrans."
