Abilify (aripiprazole) for Schizoaffective Disorder: Sadly, this medicine was at one time my worst enemy. I couldn't sit still on it, I kept pacing and twitching, half screaming half crying, agitated, itchy and angry. I couldn't sleep for more than 4 hours a night and I was only on 2.5 mg of it. I don't remember if I ate or not on it, but probably not because I was in a type of hell. I know it's a good medicine for a lot of people, but for me, it turned my life upside down.
Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: I started this medicine a week ago and found that I actually have energy again. After years of being so tired after work I have to drag myself through the evening just waiting and wishing to go to bed. Now I can play with my kids, do some housework and even relax for a while after I have accomplished so many things. I have done more in a week than in the last month. And I feel like planning things (like outing with friends and vacations) and I am excited about them instead of feel like it was just another thing I HAD to do. I have had a little insomnia, but I find if I take it in the morning, I am ok by evening and sleep fairly well. I think and am eating more, so I will have to watch. Overall, good experience, hope it lasts!

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Bipolar Disorder: Abilify gave me total erectile dysfunction, spasms. It made me fatigued even if I took it at night but at the same time it made me feel quite agitated inside. I was only on this medication for a month so I cannot say whether it controlled my symptoms effectively. It may work for some, however the side effects were unbearable for me.
Abilify (aripiprazole) for Schizophrenia: It has helped a little with the voices I hear and help a lot with visual hallucinations, but not touch hallucinations. Does not help that much with Paranoia.
Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: Abilify has been a lifesaver for me, probably literally. I've tried at least a dozen different medications (for the treatment of depression and social anxiety) since I was 16 (I'm now 25) and Abilify has probably shown the biggest improvement of them all. My mood is great most of the time, anxiety is reduced, and I have a lot more confidence than I used to. The one side effect: weight gain. I'm hungry all the time and have gained 20-30 pounds. Previously my mental health took priority over my physical health because I was so depressed. Now that I'm doing better I may cut back on Abilify in order to get back in better physical health. Hopefully the positive effects won't go away!

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Bipolar Disorder: I'm 38 and have been suffering from bipolar and some schizophrenia since age 12. First time in my life that a pill other than a painkiller took away the crushing pressure pinning my dreams, my soul, to the ground.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: I was put on Abilify a month ago. I have always been manic/ depressive. I suffered post traumatic stress in Iraq in 2007. {I said NOTHING and am still serving as a National Guardsman}. I work law enforcement during the week. I USED to sleep all day on my first day off, it was a struggle to do ANYTHING on my second day off. Since I have been on Abilify my life has done a 180 degree turn. I feel so much better. I get up and face the world every morning at 6-8 am. I feel like a new person.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: I take 4mg of Abilify with 60 mg of Cymbalta and my life couldn't be better. I enjoy things again! I also take Focalin for ADHD and this helps tremendously also. I'm like a new person.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Schizophrenia: Worst experience of my life. Stuck in mental ward, oral administration at first. Unusual sensation and altered perception of internal space were the immediate experienced effects. Later injections. Developed tics that refuse to subside. Perceived loss of cognitive ability.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: Abilify at 2mg has felt like my depression is finally under control. However the weight gain has been a difficult one to accept and am going to try to go down to 1mg to see if that makes a difference. I started out at about 124 and am now 131 with watching everything I eat and exercising hard 3-4 times a week. Doesn't seem to matter if I eat very little. Still can't lose the weight. I don't like this side effect but it far outweighs the depression I have felt for years so may have to put up with it. I am very hungry in between meals and crave sweets. Will power has been tested and so far I am passing because I have never had a weight problem in my life and don't want to start now.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Bipolar Disorder: This medicine works well for me and I tried a lot of medicines. It's a little pill, does a lot. People have said I seem much better and have my personality back (I was on lithium, made me like a zombie). Hardly any side effects. I take it with Lamictal. A

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Schizophrenia: Just as a warning, I got rushes of aggression on Abilify. My psych said that is not uncommon, as the medicine does not suit everyone.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Bipolar Disorder: I've just finished my first week on Abilify, and although I've been told that the med is ready to do its job from the 2nd or 3rd day you take it, I don't think my brain chemistry has settled down to one reaction. Right now, I'm pleased. I have Bipolar Type 2, and Abilify was prescribed to help with my constant depression. Now I am going back and forth between a little anxious and mildly manic, sometimes in one day. This is a huge improvement. I have energy! I can smile! Hope this is permanent

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Autism: Our 11year old son with autism began Abilify mainly to combat fears (thunder, loud sounds, etc.) and to allow him calm down. It helped with that. It also regulated his sleep cycle very nicely. But he has put on a lot of weight. I tried taking him off of it, but the facial hitting (he hits himself) and screaming were really bad. Overall a good, benign medicine.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: I am 16 and have battled depression since junior high. My doctor has me on Prozac and 2mg of Abilify. Unfortunately, my side effects have only made things worse. I cannot sit still through school and I am now hearing a voices, making me suicidal. I also have the stranger dreams and I don't sleep well at all.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Bipolar Disorder: Has significantly reduced my mania and irritability. I'm much more stable. Has also reduced my need for alcohol, which I used frequently to medicate. I've been on several medicines for bipolar and this one seems to work for me. Started at 2mg. at night and worked up to 10mg, (5th day at 10mg.) and feel much more in control. My insomnia is gone too. I haven't gained any weight but was on Risperdal (gained 10 pds.) can't seem to lose that weight. Since I've decided to quit drinking maybe I'll lose the weight.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Bipolar Disorder: Have been taking Abilify for 6 months at 2 mg daily. The first 2 weeks were hard I couldn't sit still at all and could not sleep and my work suffered badly because I couldnt think due to lack of sleep, but I didn't give up because the anger and extreme anxiety I was experiencing disappeared after the first dose! I have gained weight and sometimes cannot control binge eating since I've been on it. Also it does almost nothing for depression which still comes and goes but is easier to deal with since I have much less anxiety symptoms but I seem I be really paranoid now and I don't like that. All that being said I feel way more stable on this than on nothing.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Bipolar Disorder: I just started this medicine and I feel great already from switching off Seroquel XR to Abilify. I take 2.5mg (split 5mg pill) in the morning and my moods are a lot more stable. I'm also more productive at everything like work, house work, etc. My loved ones can see the difference. The first two days I experienced some nausea but that's it! I feel the biggest thing is start at a low dose.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Bipolar Disorder: It seemed to work well but I developed akathesia on this medicine. I took it for a few months. I felt like I could not sit still. I had to keep moving. I could not enjoy anything. I also had trouble sleeping. I tried lowering the dosage then we tried increasing the dosage but nothing helped. I finally had to stop taking it because of the side effects.
Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: Both my daughter and I gained an excessive amount of weight on Abilify. At 16 years of age, she went from 100 lbs to 140lbs. I went from 120 to 175lbs. After discontinuing Abilify, it took a year to finally lose the weight.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: I have been going through a tough time in my life, and Prozac wasn't cutting it. A psychiatrist gave me a sample of Abilify. I'm glad it was just a free sample, because this was NOT the medicine for me. I would bounce between feeling OK and being suicidal (I have never contemplated suicide before).
Things went really haywire the morning after taking my first dose. My legs felt so weak that I could not even get out of bed. It has been about 20 hours since my last dose, and I still feel like I'm going to collapse whenever I stand up. My brain feels like it's turned to mush - I stutter, and I'm very clumsy. The pharmacist said that 2% of people experienced muscle stiffness/myalgia with this medicine so I guess I'm one of the 2%.
Abilify (aripiprazole) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: My daughter was taking 10mg for OCD hair pulling, while it did help with the pulling she gained 20kg and could not stay awake which is not a good thing in school. She had no motivation for anything but to eat and sleep. I have taken her off the medication.
Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: I was suffering from depression for 20 years and was prescribed 200mg Zoloft and 30mg Wellbutrin XR years ago. However, I still felt depressed, stuck and unsociable, so my psyche added Abilify. In the beginning I was on 2.5mg, which helped me tremendously with no side effects. Then my dose was increased to 5mg and then to 10mg and now I have difficulty with fine motor skills, especially my handwriting and have muscle aches in my upper arms, both of which I attribute to the increased dose of Abilify. My psych was unavailable for a month, so after a considerable amount of research online, I chose to cut my dose back to 5 mg. My handwriting is better, but still suffer from upper body aches. See your doctor before changing your dose.
