For COPD, Maintenance "My husband has COPD and our doctor recently changed his albuterol inhaler to Ventolin. His other one was not working like it should. He has been on the Ventolin for about 2 weeks and it works great. He does not have to use it as much and it lasts much longer than his previous one. He loves this inhaler."

For COPD, Maintenance "I am a cancer patient who developed COPD following chemotherapy and radiation. I use Ventolin for those times I am suddenly short of breath. I’m reviewing Ventolin to respond to several comments that the inhaler stops working before all of the 204 uses have been used. This was happening to me — several times — and was frustrating: insurance only allows refills every 30 days, and my co-pay is expensive. I took my inoperable Ventolin in and complained to my pharmacist. The counter indicated 75 uses remaining — I had wasted 10 attempts trying to get medication dispensed. My pharmacist removed the canister from the dispenser and rinsed the dispenser under very warm water. I let it air dry for ages She reassembled the inhaler and it worked perfectly! Ventolin has been very important in “rescue” occasions when I very suddenly and without warning cannot breathe. This happens so unexpectedly that I don’t go anywhere without my Ventolin inhaler."

For COPD, Maintenance "My main complaint is that the inhaler seems to be empty before the 200 puffs are used. It seems to help well for the first 150 to 175 puffs, then stops feeling effective. I carefully following how to use it & don't know why I am not getting the right dosage throughout."

For Asthma, Maintenance "Ventolin seems to work the best for me. I used to use Proventil and that worked for a little bit, but then seemed to stop working. Ventolin consistently works well for me and I've been using it since around 2009. Unfortunately, my insurance company does not cover Ventolin at all. I have to pay full price for it which cost me $66 today. They want me to get ProAir and I don't even want to try it as I've read nothing but bad things about it, from the dispenser not working, to it running out after a few sprays, to the power clumping up inside the cannister rendering it completely useless even with a working dispenser. No thanks! I'd rather use what has been working for me. Why change something if it's working? I don't understand why my insurance company won't cover it anymore."

For Asthma, acute "I have had asthma for 45 years. I started on this medication when I was very young. It's always worked very well for me. I have had physicians try to change it to something else but I always end up requesting they change me back to Ventolin. It just works."

For Asthma, Maintenance "This is the only rescue inhale that works for me. I use a cortical steroid inhaler for maintenance and this is my rescue inhaler for those rare instances I need something. For some reason my insurance company has stopped covering this inhaler and they keep forcing a substitution with ProAir HFA which is worse than useless. Ventolin HFA needs to be doing a better job marketing their product to the insurance companies so their users are having to constantly scramble for coupons to pay for it."

For Asthma, Maintenance "Right now, I am waiting for my doctor to renew my prescription so I can get my medication. The inhaler I am currently using shows it has 122 puffs left, and its empty. This isn't the first time I've had one of these go dry before its used up. Now, without an inhaler, I have to hope that the doctor on Monday will send in the renewal. Fortunately, unless the pharmacy will provide a new inhaler to compensate for the defective one, I am out the money that was paid for it. Oh, it does work, when it has medication in it."

For Bronchiectasis "for never being on an inhaler before this works very very well. I've had a pretty bad cough for almost 2 years that was diagnosed as rhinitis and we tried nasal sprays and allergy medications this is like a breath of fresh air in my lungs. I'd recommend it, just watch for dry mouth!"

For Asthma, Maintenance "In my 40 years of asthma experience, Ventolin has the WORST nervous system side effects of any abuterol inhaler I have ever used. (Generic, proventil, proair hfa) I suggest you NOT use if, like me, have sensitivity to stimulants (caffeine, etc), anxiety, adrenal, heart, or panic attack issues, or like me it will likely aggravate all of them, even with one dose as it does for me. With regular use, as my MD directed (because I forgot past experience), my nervous system became so agitated that not only could not sit still, my whole body felt like it was vibrating, and triggered a physiological (not cognitive/emotional) panic attack where I struggled to breath and my heart rate stayed high and exceeded 175bpm and stuttered with slightest physical activity, well above the recommended max of 157 for age 63. Having heart issues as a result."

For Asthma, Maintenance "My Ventolin inhaler has always given me relief when I have an asthma attack or am short of breath. I find that after so many uses, it will clog. After removing the canister, rinsing the actuator with warm water and letting it dry, should unclog it."

For Asthma, acute "I have allergy induced asthma. Ventolin helps me breath better. Worked excellent at first then needed additional maintenance meds, Singulair and a steroid inhaler (Asmanex Twisthaler). I also take Allegra, Flonase, and Astelin to control my allergies and asthma."
