Nature Medicine celebrates 15th anniversary with expanded content and editorial team
LONDON, Oct. 6, 2009--In 2010 Nature Medicine will celebrate 15 years as the leading translational research journal. To mark this anniversary, Nature Medicine will expand its content by 25% and increase its editorial team, it was announced today.
From January 2010 Nature Medicine will publish more news, reviews, and research articles. Readers and library customers can enjoy 25% more content in the journal, with no commensurate price increases.
At the same time, Nature Medicine will increase the number of professional editors that evaluate manuscripts. Nature Medicine will have expert editors devoted to evaluating manuscripts in most areas of biomedicine: cancer biology, cardiovascular research, metabolism, general physiology, autoimmunity and immunology, infectious diseases and neuroscience. Three new editors are currently being recruited.
“Nature Medicine is devoted to publishing the latest and most exciting advances in biomedical research for scientists and physicians,” says Juan Carlos Lopez, Chief Editor of Nature Medicine. “To meet this challenge, our editors need to stay on top of as many fields in biomedicine as possible.”
The expansion of the editorial team will also improve the publishing experience for authors by reducing the decision time on manuscripts. “We will aim to provide an initial editorial decision on a submission in one week or less,” says Lopez.
Launched in 1995, Nature Medicine has built a strong reputation as the leading translational research journal, publishing basic and preclinical work that has direct relevance to human disease. With a 2008 Impact Factor of 27.553, Nature Medicine has been the number one journal in the Medicine, Research & Experimental category of the Journal Citation Report every year since 1996.
To celebrate this legacy and the journal’s continued development in 2010, the journal has launched the Nature Medicine Classic Collection. Nature Medicine Classic Collection brings together a series of recent articles organized by therapeutic area, together with some landmark articles published over the past 15 years. Nature Medicine Classic Collection is free-to-access online at www.nature.com/nm/classics
