No, it's not just you. Xanax XR is vastly inferior to Xanax in terms of anxiety and for a panic attack. And I take the Brand name of each (been on them for 3 years).
Perhaps you could persuade your doc to let you try Klonopin, which is FAR better than Xanax XR, and has less abuse potential than Xanax.
