My mother is 80 years old, has pneumonia and is being treated with Vancomycin. She recently had a stroke that left her with partial paralysis on the right side. She also has asthma.
Would Vancomycin IV be used to treat someone with Pneumonia?

Yes. Vancomycin is only used for more serious infections and the doctors wouldn't be using it unless they thought she needed it.
