You won't get better if you don't take your medicine. Taking it is the only way to see if it works. Everything has sides, most do not have an affect on most all. Hope this helps. Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur when using Atarax:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); involuntary movements.

What side effects scare you? This is only an antihistamine, and other then dry mouth and dizziness if your taking a high dose (which of course 10 mg isn't) its a fairly safe med. Many people take it. Antihistamines usually help stop nausea.

I've taken it, and at the same dose (10mgs, which is very low dose) and had no problems at all. You won't feel better (anxiety) unless you have the guts to take the medication.
Please give it a try, you will not become nauseous, nor will you throw up.

I have been prescribed Atarax 25mg to be taken once in the morning. It is used off label to treat mild anxiety. It is in the antihistamine class of drugs. I did not experience any side effects though some people may experience just a bit of drowsiness, but then 10mg is a very low dose. It is available OTC. It is definitely not potent and addictive as tranquilisers of the benzodiazepine class of drugs. kcfp
