Hi, I have stopped taking my Lamictal (200mg/d) over a 4 week period. I have been off it for 2 weeks, but still seem to have ongoing (and worsening) side effects - confusion, light and sound sensitivity, tiredness, anger... Has anyone got any advice as to experiencing this and how much longer it might go? I am thinking of going back on a really low dose to see if these effects stop! I was given Lamictal for BP II, but seems to make little difference, so I want to get off these drugs and the merry go round of psychiatric drugs (paxil, pristiq... ) that don't seem to help. TIA
Withdrawal from Lamictal?? ?

Does the doc know you weaned off of it? I was on it and didn't experience that when I weaned off it. Maybe you should have weaned off of it slower. I would talk to the doc about it. You can't just not take anything for the bp. It takes time to find the right thing to help you. Be patient and work with your doctor.
Hi Pledge, thanks. I am also withdrawing from Vallium (up to 2x5mg per day) and I understand benzo withdrawal has similar effects. I have told my GP and she has little advice. See my P Doc in 5 weeks. I can't take these effects anymore, so I'm going to try a small dose of Lamictal (5mg) to see if it helps. All these drugs have completely screwed my mind. I just don't want to keep going anymore.
Very good ktq. Let us know how it goes for you and feel free to post anytime. Have a great weekend.

Hi Kaismama, yes my GP knows and I'm changing P Docs - see new one in 5 weeks. I feel my brain is burnt out from all the different meds. I'm completely messed up and feel like giving up on everything. I have trusted the docs to date, but it all just seems to have made me worse and worse. I can't do anything around home, don't go out, can't help my 13 yo daughter and hubby is now my carer full-time. And these withdrawal symptoms have really got to me. I can't see any future...
Oh wow, maybe you should have waited between stopping meds. Your body is probably having a fit to your whole situation. It sounds like you could use a counselor to talk to.
