FENTORA is fentanyl in pill form. It is supposed to be prescribed for terminally ill cancer patients. It is uded for cancer break through pain. It is extremely powerful and should only be used by patient with a unusually high opiate tolerance such as near end cancer patients.
This is not a drug to be taken lightly, only for terminally ill cancer patients...
The most important information you should know about FENTORA is:
1. FENTORA can cause life-threatening breathing problems which can lead to death:
* If you are not regularly using other opioid pain medicines around-the-clock for your constant cancer pain and your body is not used to these medicines. This means that you are not opioid tolerant
* If you do not use it exactly as prescribed by your doctor
2. Your doctor will prescribe a starting dose of FENTORA that is different than other fentanyl containing medicines you may have been taking. Do not substitute FENTORA for other fentanyl medicines, including Actiq®, without talking with your doctor.

fentora is the pill form fentyl same stuff thats in the patch, lolly pop, or injectable. mostly used by cancer victims for breakthrough pain. i've heard of people with really bad pain getting it when nothing else seems to help. when you on that stuff your dying."soon"
Well then... thank God it's pain and not death I have to deal with. Note the comment for the first answer. Thanks for the input. Notice I took your advice?
If this is going to be a chronic pain issue and you are opiate tolerant then definitely look into methadone. You don't get tolerant to methadone and it is quite cheap. An excellent painkiller... Dave

Thank you. That is basically the info I got. Unfortunately, I am opiate tolerant. So far, my surgeon (the only doctor I see or is willing to continue to see me) is taking good care of me. I have used the patch and oxycodone. After putting off surgery for almost a year for a different back problem, I had an accident and shattered a few vertabrea. He put me on a different extended release opiate and upped the dosage of the breakthrough opiate. So far so good. My surgeon knows me, my back and my tolerences well. The problem is the cost. When I went through the PAP for assistance, I typed in the name of the meds I take and it prints out a list of comparable meds I could get free or at low cost. Fentora was on the list. Thank you for clarifying! I lost my insurance 2 weeks before my accident after 23 years of coverage! The meds I am on are working. I just can't afford them! Thanks again.
