Will marinol help one stop marijuana?

Basically you are just going to be exchanging illegal pot for a legal cannibas pill. I think that pot does help some people with anxiety. If you are asking how to be less anxious, thoroughly examine what seems to be making you anxious and work on that. Counseling will help, I prefer group myself because you have a panel of friends helping you. Thyroid conditions can make you anxious and of course bi-polarity isn't making it easier either. Talk to your pharmacist about all the side effects of your meds and then your doctor. Effexor actually works on 2 brain chemicals and you either love the effect or hate it. If your are asking how to get off pot and just use marinol, I think that is going to be fairly easy. The pill may have more of a calming effect. Let me know if they actually do put you on marinol for anxiety and what state you are in. They just started letting chemo users have marinol here in Alabama.

I don't understand why they would deny someone so ill a medicine that would make them feel better, but, they did for years.

Marinol will not help you stop using marijuana. Being moderate severe bipolar and severe panic/stress disorder, plus had corrective surgery for spondlythesis lvl 4 - still chronic severe pain. Took the meds above, except depakote/anti-pyschotic. My layman advice, not a dr, watch your use of effexor. it is a very potent drug and it severly affected my cns and had to immediately stop use.

I found that marinol helps a bit with appetitie, and immensely for pain - nothing for anxiety. Most ppl dont realize that thc is not the sole component of marijuana, hence marinol is NOT legal marijuana - it isnt marijuana at all. Each specie of marijuana has varying degrees of some 60 canniboids or CBDs + thc = tetrahyrdacannibinodial. THC affects more of the brain (synthetic marinol) and the CBDs affect the CNS/central nervous system. So, if you are looking for alternative to reduce anxiety - marinol WILL NOT do it for you. I use both in very strict ways. Marinol is my pain med, but I use marijuana/white widow specie to reduce my use of diazpam/valium and ambien for sleep and if out of marinol great for pain relief. Following 2 drs advice, I moved to one of the 13 states that it is legal. Hope that helps.
