Details:
I have bipolar disorder and during periods of instability, I drink heavily (whether depressed or manic). I am wondering if Campral will have effects on my mood or interfere with my medications. I am on Lamictal, Cymbalta, Liothyronine, and Gabapentin for Bipolar and anxiety. I am also on Sufazalazine & Folic acid for ulceritive colitis. I'm sure that almost anything would be better than the effects that alcohol has on my meds, but I already know about tthose problems, so I am looking for more information.
I am also wondering how Campral works. Does it just get rid of cravings or reduce the enjoyment that I get from drinkikng? Or is there some other mechanism of action?

Hello rikki evans. To date, Campral has not shown to have any negative interactions with other drugs. Its not addictive or habit forming, but it will not help your alcohol withdrawl symptons. The drug is usually precribed when a person no longer consumes any alcohol. Drinking alcohol and taking the Campral will not give a person unpleasant, or dangerous side effects. It wasn't created with that part of the drug in mind. Good health and wishes to you, pledge
