Will a person have an adverse reaction to morphine while taking low dose naltrexone?

I don't know if it would be a violent reaction, but I don't think you should do it. I was told you must be off all opiates for 11 days before taking any amount of Naltrexone. In high doses (50 mg) Naltrexone is used as an opiate antidote (I think). Naltrexone is supposed to be similar to Naloxone and I'm pretty sure Naloxone is an opiate antidote. I'm sure that's not the medical word for it. I call it that because it neutralizes opiates but it also causes unpleasant withdrawal symptoms (wds) as it does that. I'm afraid even a low dose of Naltrexone will cause you very unpleasant withdrawal symptoms if you mix them. So I have to say don't do it.

I also read that LDN is supposed to help cancer. I asked my doc if he knows of anyone who used LDN for cancer and he said he didn't. I also don't think there have been any real scientific experiments done with it. If it was me I'd want to give it a try also. But if the pain is too intense and you must use opiates you'll have to quit LDN. The only thing that may be possible is something being tested called Ultra Low Dose Naltrexone. My doc told me about this and he was going to give me some literature to read but we both forgot. I'm not sure what Ultra LDN is being tested on, but he said preliminary results look good. He also said Ultra Low means less than 1 mg a day. Maybe less than 1 mg can be mixed with an opiate but I still wouldn't do it without asking at least 2 docs who know how to use Naltrexone. I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but I wouldn't want you to go into wds for something that may not even work.

One last idea is if you were going to try Ultra LDN with an opiate, I would use a shorter acting opiate like Oxycodone (Percocet), Hydrocodone (Vicodin, Lortab, Norco), or even Fentanyl. I read some where that Fentanyl has a 30 minute half life. I also heard they make Fentanyl in lollipop form for cancer patients. It's very powerful but very short lasting. So maybe one of these with the Ultra LDN, but I still say ask 2 docs.
