vaelaMy dad let me try Lyrica (Pregabalin) one day when I was panicking, and it worked wonders. Panic attacks have been ruining my life. I'm 19 and the only thing I can think about is my own mortality. I was prescribed Xanax, and after that, I never, EVER want to take another benzo. I am afraid to ask a doctor for Lyrica because it's not approved, I think, and I don't want to seem like a druggie.
Will a doctor in the United States prescribe Lyrica for anxiety/panic attacks?

vaela, Lyrica sure makes a person drowsy! I had bad side effects from it, so I stopped taking it for nerve-pain. I would think that a doctor would prescribe it if you explained that it worked for your panic attacks. Although, I do not think it is indicated for that purpose.
Have you heard of clonopin (sp?)? Perhaps that might work for you.
Just a thought.

Unfortunately no. Alot of people dont know this, but the FDA was really really close to allowing pregabalin to be used as an anti-anxiety and antidepressant medication, but in the end didnt. Im not proud to say this, but ive used lyrica as a recreational drug, and i can definitely see why it was considered for use as an antidepressant and anti-anxiety aid. I honestly wish it WAS used for depression, cause i KNOW it could help some people though. Its usually only prescribed in the US for fibro and other nerve-pain issues
