I used to take 2 tablets per week= 50 mg. Should I still take 2 per week
and get only 20 mg.? If I take 5 per week at 10 mg each, my cost has
more than doubled for the pills (8 pills as month versus 20 pills a month.
Why was the 25mg dose of vagifem changed to 10mg by the manufacturer?

Dear mannheim 49,
I just got a refill for my Vagifem 25mcg and the pharmacist told me that she had given me the last of that dosage she had. I was given the following web site to check out and would advise you, and to do the same. It is newdosingoption.com . Apparently my gyn doesn't know yet as he gave me three more refills of the 25 mcg. I will be contacting him tomorrow to find out how to make the switchover with the least amount of withdrawal discomfort. (At least I have 14 weeks to make the switchover.) I would strongly advise you to contact your healthcare provider asap. Good luck to you.

Actually according to FDA records Vagifem 25mcg should still be available.
According to the pharmacist and the company, the 25mg was discontinued.
Oh... may be FDA haven't updated the records yet.
Vagifem 25 mg worked. 10 mg does not work. I am miserable trying to find something that does work. I cannot use Estrace because I have skin reactions to the cream base. I have a friend who is a physician who says that she hears complaints about the 10 mg dose all the time.
Plus the stuff is expensive. Going to 10 mg did not reduce the price any. I got a partial refill (6 doses) until I can figure something else out. It cost $30. I have insurance and my company has its own pharmacy (some generics cost me less than one dollar per month). No telling what it costs if you don't have insurance.
