Why the change from OC's to OP's. One, the OC is breakable and can be cut in half by hand, the OP?

I campaigned to Purdue Pharma for 4yrs now trying to get them to make a "smart pill" that can't be tampered with as it has been the only strong med that I can take that I'm not totally allergic to and felt that doctors would feel safer in prescribing it and patients would be safer for having it.

I just picked up my own new script today and did try the generic form after it was available and found it to be at least 40% less effective after a little over two weeks on it and continued to take it for that month. When I reported to the doctor that I didn't feel it was as effective by a lot, he then informed me that even he felt it was a lot less effective and his partner agreed to this also.

I did notice the new OP version is the same size around but it is larger in thickness. I too have heard that it would turn to gel if cut open and as long as I get the same relief from it that I have or very close to it, I am happy.
I also question when people even know how it effects them saying "it can be cut apart or opened" when that is not the way for anyone to use it for any reason and is considered abuse.

I ask the person who is asking this question; how do you even know how the old or the newer version of this works if you "cut it" or how can you compare it if you haven't misused this yourself?

I ask because if in the past you have cut it and used it incorrectly, you have put not only yourself in danger by using it that way but also made it so that this medication is not going to work as well for you as it did or would if it has been used correctly by never tampering with it and swallowing it whole.

If you have not done this and are making an example of how this medication was abused by so many, the way you worded it sounds fishy to someone like me that has NEVER abused it, tampered with it, or taken more than prescribed in one day as I have also remained on the same dosage for 9 of over 11yrs only changing my breakthrough pain medications a few times.

I was only 31 when I was disabled with a chronic pain disease and feel there isn't but 2 higher doses to go on throughout my entire life due to being allergic to everything else that was ever tried on me that literally put me in the ER many times.
I pray as I begin taking it tonight that it is as effective for all the people who do need it and never abuse it. I do remember from taking the generic form that the life the the brand name must have remained in my system for it take two weeks or so to even notice it.

If for any reason it is a lot less effective, that is a discussion I will have with my doctor.
Anyone else think this question is more about how to abuse this med than how to use this medication or how effective it is?
If I am wrong about you, I apologize as I don't ever judge anyone who uses their meds correctly.

You have already stated that you are "having to use twice as much" and "go without" at times. That is a sign if you aren't using it incorrectly that you may need to go on another medication entirely and if you have used it incorrectly, I have no doubt that it no longer works for you the way it used to. Please be responsible with your medications always.
