I have been on Meridia since Nov-09 and have only lost 6lbs (my current weight is 150lbs). My doctor told me I should be at 130 so he prescribed me 15mg because I have been having trouble losing weight. My caloric intake is between 700-900 per day. I had a serious eating disorder for 15yrs but for the last 2yrs I have been in recovery (31yrs old). I was just wondering if my past could have done any damage to my thyroid or any part of me to prevent me from losing weight?? My doctor just thinks I should go to Weight Watchers. I was anorexic for almost all my life my problem is not portion control. What should I do???

Anorexia Nervosa slows down the metabolism and also does other damage.
I found that adding a second cardio based workout per workday makes a huge difference in how effective this medication is.
I am hoping somehow to reach people under 55 with no medical conditions such as heart disease who need Meridia like I do to write to their country's FDA or Health Canada or whomever, and get the drug reapproved for us. I am very, very worried about my future without this medication.
I have found with Meridia the answer is not in restricting calories, but in generating metabolism by eating adequately (and 900 calories a day is not adequate) and increasing moderate exercise. I have been badly injured and exercise is hard for me to do more than once a day, and my weight has been affected. But I hope to get well and get healthy again. I *wish* I were 150. I wish you luck on your journey to health.
